Okcupid used to be a fabulous and free way to meet people. The site was easy to use and visually pleasant. I was a member for 6 years and I've watched as they have systematically destroyed the site. Match.com bought them out out and now is squelching their competition by making the site unwieldy and difficult to contact people. You used to be able to send a message and the receiver could see and answer if they chose to, whether you were a paying member or not. Late 2017 they changed the messaging system and made it so confusing, that Cupid had to send a detailed blog post describing how to now contact people. It has become so encumbered as to make it too hard to even try and contact anyone. I gave up trying to connect and apparently other users feel the same. I no longer get messages since the change. Feedback from their users were across the board rabidly negative and Cupid has totally disregarded them. What used to be a great site has been killed by their competition. I guess the lure of $50 million was enough to sell their soul to the devil. Just business as usual.

I knew about them automatically renewing your monthly subscription without notifying, so I made sure to cancel before the end of my one month subscription.

Besides that, there are real problems with this site. It's very confusing for users. There are too many choices with links all over, so that one feels like they are entering a warren. I can never remember where I've seen anything.

They categorize the job postings too broadly, like 'New York, NY', so if you are looking for a job in your immediate vicinity, you can't tell where potential clients are. They should have posters include their zip code as part of the posting process, otherwise you are sending cover letters to people you might not want to work for. Many of the part time jobs are only for a couple of hours, such as a quick visit to check on an animal. In that case, you wouldn't want to have to travel far to get to them. Yet you don't where they are unless you write them (and I write nice personalized intro letters), and they contact you back. That is both a huge waste of my time, and the poster's.

If you apply for a job via your computer and the poster responds, the site doesn't automatically send you an email letting you know, so you have to login every day and check. That should be fixed.

It's cumbersome to reply to a potential client via text. Care.com doesn't let you exchange contact information directly, supposedly to protect the individuals, but you can end up playing phone tag and never reach someone because the call has to go through care.com.

That being said, I did get some interviews, but nothing was the right fit. Getting interviewed is a big deal though, and that's why the 3 stars. FYI: Care.com DOES alert you that there are people trying to scam users and to be hypervigilant about this. Unfortunately this is not care.com's fault but a rampant scourge of the time we are living in.

Poor business practices. They do very sneaky things like try to get you to buy more than you want. When I used my last image they automatically charged my credit card for 2 more images without asking for my approval. When I complained they refunded me. I gave them one more shot the next time I needed an image, and purchased what I thought was a 2-image package, but they charged me for 5 images, again, without letting me know. When the purchase went through, I was never given a confirmation of what I bought, so didn't find out until my credit card statement came. So now I had this 5 image bundle which I didn't want but decided to use (and never purchase from them again), but when I went to get an image, the site did not even recognize that I had available images and said I needed to purchase a bundle. Called customer service, indefinite hold, finally left a recorded message. They didn't return the call. Finally, I was able to contact them and they refunded my entire purchase price. A lot of energy wasted on my part.

Istock photos was my go to, until their image prices started climbing, then I switched to Shutterstock, however istock finally caught on to losing their customer base and now has inexpensive images available. I won't use Shutterstock again.
