I have been selling on Poshmark for a while, I have made 10k+. As a seller, I have had no issues. As a buyer, I have had a recent issue that makes me want to take my business elsewhere entirely.
I purchased a Triangl brand bikini listed as being in very good condition. On the date that the parcel was marked as delivered, I could not find it. It was not on my steps or in my driveway area, so as is standard I went into the app and notified Poshmark that I had not received it.
5-6 days later, I finally located my parcel. I am not sure if USPS or a neighbor dropped it off, but it had been located. This is past Poshmark's 3 day acceptance window, so the app had manually "accepted" the parcel and the seller was paid.
Upon opening my item, I find that the bikini top is broken entirely, there is pilling all over the suit, and the bikini bag that was listed as being included was not there. I immediately contacted Poshmark, as this item was severely misrepresented by the seller.
It took 3 emails to finally get a response, and I was stunned that Poshmark intended to do nothing about it, because the 3 day window had passed. I explained that I had had no opportunity to accept previously, given that the parcel was not in my possession.
I was told too bad, seller has been paid and next time I need to report this issue (again, I had no way of reporting it when I did not have it). I was offered a small site credit as a 'courtesy.' A customer service rep named Jordan even suggested that I resell this completely broken swimsuit to make back some profit.
So, in short: if you buy on Poshmark and USPS loses your item, you will still have to pay. Poshmark protects sellers who lie, and they suggest you sell defective merchandise.
Consignment shopping does not have to be a negative experience, but Poshmark will try very hard to ensure it is.
