The whole experience with Zoc Doc can be summed up like this, it is very easy and convenient. You can find the type of doctor you need and type in the type of insurance you have and the doctors in your area will pop up. Its that easy. But not to sound like a infomercial for them but, That's not all. You also can learn about the doctors personal and medical backgrounds and even set the appointment. I use it all the time now. I recommend it.
Excellent! Zoc Doc provided information on local doctors in my area. I found an amazing OB/GYN Dr. VonThron. I was able to complete new patient forms and schedule online from the Zoc Doc webpage. Thanks Zoc Doc
I was referred to Zocdoc by my dermatologist. He recommended i use to it book with his office. It is really awesome! I was able to see his availability and pick a time that works best for me. I didnt have to call the office and spend 15 min on the phone trying to pick a time that worked. I then used the site to find a dentist and it was so easy. I do not understand why there are alot of bad reviews. This is a great site and i highly recommend it.
This is the second time I have had the opportunity to comment. After my former bad experience, I spoke to an associate who was concerned about my experience.
I thought it would get better.
Instead it got worse. I made an appt. For about 3 weeks ahead for a physical with Dr Altstein. When I got there they had NO record of this appt. I had to book again for early May. Needless to say I will NEVER use ZOCDOC again. Twice bitten as they say. I will phone in my appts in future. An Amazon gift card does not do it.
I have scheduled a dr. appointment via zocdoc and ended up waiting for almost 4 hours! I was told by the receptionist and the nurse that they dont go by that, they go by first come first serve. I will mostlikely never use zocodc again.

I had a bunionectomy on my left foot 14 years ago, and it was AWFUL. I was in horrible pain for days following the procedure, which I was totally unprepared for, and it took forever to heal. I desperately needed the surgery done on my right foot, but put it off for too long because of my past experience. Finally, I couldn't walk anymore on that foot. I consulted with Dr. Colabella, who was thorough and very down to earth. He reassured me that he would help me manage the pain and recover quickly... and he came through with the promise! He did and excellent job, and set me up with an ice compression machine that was amazingly helpful. I can't believe how quickly and smoothly the healing process has been. I am so relieved and happy that I had this done!
I love using ZOCDOC! I find that I don't put off going to the doctor when I can easily get online and make an appointment at my convenience. I hate calling the dr's office only to sit on hold for 10 min and then going through availabe appts with the staff that do not fit into my schedule. I find on zoddoc it eliminates all the stress involved in making a dr's appt. My only wish is that more doctor's would sign up with zocdoc.
ZocDoc didn't have a doctors Insurance coverage/ "In Network" status up to date when I booked with someone. A month after I visited the doctor I received a bill for the full payment of my visit. I checked ZocDoc's site and now that doctor show's not covered. They simply just changed the In Network status, now I'm screwed. Doctors aren't liable to tell you if they're In-Network, and ZocDoc's records are broken, so I wouldn't suggest trusting their site.

The ratings you give to businesses are way off base. For example, you gave a 5 star rating for Accuvision Optometry on 1844 Divisadero. I was led to believe that I was getting progressive lenses and was charged $550.00 with an eye examination. I was told that I had to wait up to 2 weeks for them. When they arrived to my surprise they were reading glasses. I took them back and was charged an additional $150.00 for the progressive lenses. I was furious. They did however throw in the reading glasses as well as the progressive lenses at no additional cost to their credit. The point being that your rating system is a joke.

Whenever it is suggested that I use a website instead of the telephone, I expect it to be easier than i find it. Usually it means leaving the computer to get pieces of information I wouldn't expect to need. When making an appointment, I don't expect to have to provide more than my name and desire for an appointment, reason for that appt. When on the phone, doc's phone person can ask if insurance, etc., info is the same. On website, it has to be provided. Just seems to be more time consuming than I expect.
This year was very painfull with ZocDoc, every time I booked an appointment on ZocDoc, the doctor's offices called me later to change the appointments. It happened many times in the past 12 month, I'm fed up, I prefer don't use Zocdoc anymore...

Actually, should be no stars. I made an appointment to see Lisa Pruett, MD at Trinity Dermatology in Carrollton, TX. However, my entire appointment was with a PA who spent now more than 15 min with me freezing 3 age spots and removing a small mole. I was charged 157 for the freezing, 157 for the mole and over 200 for a 45 min exam. No md ever saw me. When I went to check out - I said would I be paying the PA rate or MD rate for an exam. They said it was all the same. I emphatically told them I would not in any way pay for an md visit. Oh they said, she looks over the PA's notes and signs off on them. I said the paitent is already gone by then.? I am not returning to this practice. Besides my visit should have been coded for my yearly skin exam as preventive and paid 100% by my insurance company. I really feel for the pa. I know in all likelihood that her 401k is no where near the md I chose on ZocDoc nor Mark Ray's who owns the practice.

This place only lets you leave a review when you see a doctor which is completely bogus because I saw a doctor and I wanted to tell the world how bad he was but ZODOC wouldn't let me! Half of their reviews are fake!

I recently tried to schedule a doctors appointment through ZocDoc. I chose my insurance carrier, found a doctor in my area, selected the appointment time, and then filled out my personal/medical information.
I get a call later that day from the doctors office. They told me the following:
A) They needed all my information again because their system wasn't synced with ZocDoc.
B) The doctor was not available at the time I selected and wasn't available for another two days after I selected (again their systems weren't synced with ZocDoc).
C) They were not in my insurance network.
Literally, every service ZocDoc's appointment planner was supposed to provide didn't work. Never wasting my time again. #EpicFail

I hate and I mean hate calling Dr's offices. I would a void calling for as long as possible. I also dont have the regular 9-5 life so I often dont have time to call a place during hours of operation. Being able to book an appointment from my phone is so helpful. Sometimes the application is a bit glitchy and difficult but it is worth it. I spent about 20 minutes entering so much info (not my SSN... I wasn't comfortable doing that) and when I got to the Dr., they said that because I (probably) hadn't filled the form out completely, that there was NO info in 'the system' so I had to fill it out (again!) on paper! I responded to ZocDoc's request for feedback re: this glitch and got a voicemail from someone to follow up. I returned the call, but didn't know who to ask for and there was no record of anyone having called me, so the receptionist person informed me that 'the problem' had been fixed.

Answer: Yes, prices appear to be around $44-180 now. Offices get charged this even for cancellations, no-shows, and fake bookings. Zocdoc has no built in protections to negate this type of booking behaviors. Why would they when they profit off it? Zocdoc also prohibits practices from talking about this fee as it violates their "community standards."
