I just bought a gently used ZAD50CE, and boy, am I pleased! As a 50-year-plus player, I've owned and enjoyed a number of nice guitars, including my current line-up: Ovation custom Balladeer, Washburn D10SCE, Breedlove AD25-SM and Taylor 214CE. I've been pleased with all of them – but nothing prepared me for the difference in playing a Zager, not even their own "hype". I've been following them for a while. When I spotted this one at a shop an hour away, I had to go see what the buzz was all about. I wasn't disappointed. After playing a few minutes (and being astounded that there was no hyperbole in their advertising), I pulled a Taylor identical to mine off the wall and played them side-by-side for an hour, both acoustic and plugged in. Nothing against the Taylor – I love mine! But the clarity, power and action of my Zager are remarkable! I injured my left hand recently. It's recovering, but some things have been difficult even on my current stable of instruments. I can do almost everything easily on my Zager. I'm SO glad I made the purchase!
There are no words to describe how I felt when I opened the case of my new guitar. The guitar was beautiful and I was overwhelmed with gratitude when I discovered that Mr. Zager had upgraded my order to a ZAD80CEOM. I had received a wrong handed full size ZAD50CE guitar in July by mistake. This mistake turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I was able to hold the full size guitar and I quickly realized it was to big and cumbersome for my body size. Also, I am a beginner and left handed individual. I thought I needed to order a left hand guitar. Through several conversations with Mr. Zager concerning which handed instrument I should order. I decided to order a right handed ZAD50CEOM. I was disappointed when I learned I would have to wait till October to receive a replacement, but I really wanted to buy a Zager guitar. I am so happy I waited, this company really is all about customer satisfaction. I never expected that I would received this beautiful ZAD80CEOM. I signed up for lessons and I can't wait to begin this new hobby.
ZAD80CE OM - Fantastic guitar sound and quality, this guitar has definitely exceeded my expectations of playability, clarity of sound and soft feel on the fret board. I have been switching between three second hand guitars trying to progress my learning over the past 9 months. Not having the perfect shape hand for guitar playing, I struggled with chord changes on the thicker neck guitars. On the thinner neck guitar the difficulty was achieving clarity of notes, with the close string spacing. So rather than give up, I read some articles on the net which led me to my decision to buy a Zager Guitar. After only a couple of days with the Zager Guitar, my chord switches and confidence has improved and I am looking forward to progressing much faster using only one guitar. My guitar was shipped internationally and arrived at my door in Australia 11 days after placing the order. The couple of emails I sent to Dennis Jr were answered very quickly, even if it was 3.00am. The Zager Family are very community minded and generous to boot. I was fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of a Denny surprise, when I open the case. I even emailed Dennis Jr to see if it was a mistake, no mistake due to stock levels Denny had upgraded my order. Thanks again Denny.
Acoustically, I've been playing a Taylor 810 and had been considering buying a high end Martin when I came across the Zager advertising. I'd never bought any guitar without playing it first (I currently have 11), but Zager has a no risk guarantee that includes shipping BOTH WAYS! With nothing to lose, I said "why not?"
So, after chatting with Dennis Zager I bought the ZAD900 CE and it arrived in 4 days.
It's a fabulous guitar, very well made... plays and sounds fabulous! It is now my all time favorite, and I will never sell it. I don't know if it's the easiest playable guitar since I haven't played all others, but it is the most comfortable of all mine, and it has the best neck I've ever played.
I should also mention that Zager Customer Service is outstanding. Their response to questions is quick and friendly. If you have a problem you can be confident they will fix it.
The ease of playability of this guitar has me astounded as much as the beauty and craftmanship. I turn seventy soon and this guitar has sparked my enthusiasm and although I have had different makes over the years it makes me desire to be a better player and to play more often. The customer service is beyond reproach and personable.
Received my guitar much earlier than promised - which I was super happy about. Stunning guitar with fantastic attention to detail. Beautiful wood and materials. I decided to buy the OM size because it looked very comfortable to hold and I was right - sits right on my thigh perfectly. The ZAD 80CEOM I purchased has a very rich tone - particularly in the mid-range, but well-balanced - super warm (and I've only played it for about an hour). I have a Seagull Solid Cedar Topped S6 I've owned and played for about 20 years to compare it to at the moment, which admittedly is a lesser-quality guitar, but I've also owned a $2,700 Taylor. This ZAD 80 is prettier than any guitar I've ever owned and great tone right out of the case for 1/2 the price. Equally important to me is that every email is answered within a few hours and they always picked up the telephone when I called. Customer service is second to none in my book - this is a company that bends over backward for you and the customer clearly ends up on top. I had a very minor issue with my order and they made up for it in a BIG way. Let's just say I have never experienced a company that cares about developing life-long customers the way the people at Zager do.
My experience with Zager has been nothing but good. Before I bought my ZAD80CE I was skeptical, as I had never bought a guitar on line sight unseen. Dennis Jr answered every question I had prior to my purchase (and I had many) and when I felt good about it I made the purchase. I received the guitar about 7 days after I placed the order and it was literally flawless in it's finish. Beautiful guitar but even beyond that it plays great. It has great tonal qualities, beautiful harmonics, great tuners, very good preamp with built in tuner and it is in fact easier on the fingertips. I can't say enough about it. It's sound is very comparable to my Taylor. Would but another one without hesitation.
Just received my new Zagar ZAD50CE. I LOVE it. I've never played an acoustic/electric before. I love the size of this one. Easy to play. Quality workmanship. I can feel the love that was put into making it. It is a beautiful guitar. I hesitated to spend this much money on a guitar I never played but with their money back guarantee it gave me the freedom to take the plunge so to speak. Once I played it I was sold. I had a question when I first got it and Dennis Jr responded to me in less than two hours. And it was Sunday! Best customer service ever. If you're waffling take a chance. You won't regret it.
Best overall sound, playability and looks of any guitar I've ever had and in 50 years of playing and I've tried them all!
I am in my 60's, and I wanted to have a good guitar. I splurged and bought the ZAD900CE. The more I play it the more I like it. I'm not a professional player, but I do like the string spacing, and I like the lighter feel. I'm still getting used to not having to press so hard. Great guitar! Build quality is perfect. It is so nice to have a guitar that is properly setup. I know there are very expensive brands out there that can get knocked around and handled many times through retail stores, but this Zager feels like it was professional setup, and sent direct from the factory. The tuners are smooth as butter. The sound is rich, no mater if you finger play softly, or if you want to get after it with a pick. After a couple of weeks, I decided to plug into a amp and try out the electronics - Wow! The sound in richer yet and the lows come to life even more. Every time you open the case, you know you are going to be touching and hearing quality.
My Zagar brought new joy to playing guitar. It's just easier to play than the Taylors, Martins, Yamaha's, Guild, and Gibson I've played/owned.
I read about them on Facebook and didn't think much about it. Finally, some of their videos with celebrity players using a Zagar made me pay attention. I ponied up when they went on sale and got one. I just love it!
My name is Roger and I have been playing the guitar since I was twelve years old. I have had all kinds of guitars. From Tel-star, Epiphone, Gibson, Martin, Lyle, Yamaha, Alvarez, Ibanez and others. I'm primarily a bluegrass player. I'm not a professional. I play mostly in church with a group. I'm not here to criticize any other guitar maker because there are some good ones available. I recently purchased a Zager guitar. To me personally this is one of the best, if not the best guitar, I have ever had in my hands. I love this guitar and don't anticipate that I will ever purchase anything but a Zager in the future. I'm an individual, I'm not associated with Zager "the company" or anyone that works at Zager. I did not receive a discount on my guitar for this review. This is just my honest review of my new guitar. My wife is the one who ordered the guitar and has communicated by email with the employees at Zager about shipping and arrival times, etc. The customer service is outstanding. Honestly hard to believe how quickly they respond to us. Buy Zager and you will not be disappointed!
OMG, opening the case, it was so beautiful. Taking it out, feeling the neck! An amazing piece of craftsmanship! The double v's in the rosewood back. Ok so I touch a string. A sound of beauty. The controlled power is something I've never experienced before and I own some top end acoustics.
By far my favorite and my new axe.
Thank you
Shane Allen
Dennis,
The ZAD80CE arrived on August 20th. It's been a month now and I LOVE IT!
I've looked at many guitars of all makes and none compare to the ZAD. The bass tones are especially sweet. I lowered the strings a little with the key and got them in a sweet spot that's really easy to play. The beautiful darker color of the cedar is also my favorite.
Tell your dad thanks for the masterpiece.
I was looking for a guitar that would be easy to play for my aging fingers, and that sounded and looked good, and has a built in pick up for the occasions when I perform for an audience. I got more than I expected at a really good price. To check out the action on the first few frets (after paying attention to Dennis Jr's advice on lowering the action), I played Crazy Man Michael by Fairport Convention which features some English folky trills. They work fine on the guitar. The other day, I had my son assess my new baby. He is an ace guitarist on both acoustic and electric. When he played his first few notes on it he said: "wow this has a unique sound." He played some of the new tune he's writing which includes some lovely harmonics. He went on to say that the guitar is perfect for me because I am a finger style guitarist and need all the help I can get in making playing easy - for my left hand, in particular. When checking it out myself I have been playing several Bert Jansch songs (Strolling Down the Highway and Ask me Why for example) and then Chet Atkins version of Sibony (from his The Other Chet Atkins album). That has some tricky parts to it and the wider spacing of the finger board made it easier to play than for any of my other quality guitars. All this and great service from Dennis Jr. My wife likes my playing at the best of times and she noticed the resonance of this new addition to the family and despite having an aversion to my owning yet another guitar she's happy both because I'm happy and because she likes the sound.

I'm an aspiring guitarist; I'm literally just learning. Prior to receiving my ZAD80, I was working with a nylon string and a very old entry-level fender. Reaching chords was difficult on the Nylon as it was a stretch; the fender was tough because of how tight the strings are. My Zager has made things easier for me; it sounds amazing and makes reaching those tough chords much easier. The quality craftsmanship, the buying experience... everything made me feel less like an outsider and more like I was a student of Mr. Zager and his son. My guitar arrived in a beautiful case. Everything, from the hand-signed note indicating that Denny had inspected it, to the custom pic attached to one of the tuners was amazing. I will be buying again, for my kids.
The Overall sound quality is very well balanced and it just rings with sustainability like crazy! Even the fretboard seems smoother & easier to play on:
I came from the Taylor 814ce that retails for $3800 - $3900 & sells for $3499. 00
In my opinion, playing the ZAD80ceom sounds louder and cleaner than the Taylor 814ce did... I forget the material used on the tuner machine heads but they actually stripped out a couple of times within the 1st 1 1/2. I was sent out new ones to replace that - but still having paid this much and that happened was surprising to me. Taylor later changed the tuners out for that line:
The Zager customer service has been an absolute pleasure to work with: They have been there helping me every step of the way and really appreciate the service you guys have! (AAA+rating)

I got my Zager (ZAD80CE-AURA) guitar about 10 months ago. When it arrived I was excited to try it out, not wanting to be swayed by advertising of the guitar I waited until I had plenty of time to test what Zager said about it being easier to play. I found my guitar playing improved and I was enjoying practicing more. In my music room I have other guitars but I turn to the Zager 90% of the time. These are not cheap Guitars (Martin, Takimine, Fender, and Taylor) they are good but I like the Zager the best. I feel that what Zager says about their Guitars is true. If you try one out I think you will love it.
Walked into a pawn shop in central Louisiana. Found on the wall was Zager Zad 80/n this thing was beautiful and the craftsmanship was definitely nicer than I had seen on any guitar I'd ever ran across. It played amazingly no string buzz just a warm rich sound that was all it took I didn't know what the price of it was never had even heard of Zager but I asked the fella what he had to have for it. He quoted me 1200$ with the case and all the certifications and really didn't have the funding but jumped and put it on layaway it took me a bit to get it home. But this thing did not disappoint I've had a 900 series Taylor and 2 Takamines and this guitar was phenomenal and I could play twice as long without hand cramps with the Zager. I contacted the Zager company and asked if I could send it in and get them to do a check for any issues and I would gladly pay for it since I didn't buy it from them and Denny Jr responded personally back the next day and said that it didn't matter that I bought it out of the pawn shop they would take care of everything and at no cost Wow that's pretty big to me. So I am very pleased with the guitar and the customer service experience. From now on there is no question to who I will get my other guitars from thanks Zager for everything on this found gem!
My purchase was a Zager ZAD50CE. As one would expect, the day it came via FedEx I was excited to open up the box to find a well made case that housed the finest sounding and playing musical instrument that I've ever played. I'm 68 years old and over the years of playing, I've played Fender, Takaminie, Gibson, Taylor, and I've never played a sweeter guitar. These Zager guitars are everything that they advertise. If you want a quality great sounding guitar, buy a Zager!
Answer: I am not interested in a 1969 song as much as the wonderful services and the best guitar in my own humble opinion on the market in 2019. They are truly gifted Luthers and honest men of integrity men to work with and that sir is no lie God Bless Mike A
Answer: Through email, I hear back within 24 hours or less every time.
Answer: I'll put my new ZAD900CE up against anything Martin makes or has made in the past.
Answer: They answered my emails within hours.
Answer: I have purchased (2) guitars from them and they are both excellent guitars. Customer service is next to none. Ignore the haters, this is a legit company based out of Lincoln Nebraska.
Answer: I asked the same question and was told they are experiencing shipping issues just like the rest of the country. In retrospect, I should have ordered a 'sale guitar' which are new guitars that were used by Denny (a few hundred dollars cheaper too). Kind of like a loaner or demo car I guess. It took me 7 or 8 weeks to get my brand new Zager 900 CE.
