Yelp Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

Once you subscribe to Santana Adventures, you are automatically LOCKED IN to receive tons and tons and tons of email advertisements from that company. Unfortunately, I was (and maybe still am) a victim of this company whose robots constantly bombard you with advertisements for cycling/cruise trips domestically and internationally.

I have written to that company many, many times to STOP sending me all those advertisements, but guess what? They still come flowing into my computer; of course, I delete them immediately. They are like horrid wasps constantly trying to "sting" you into buying their overpriced products.

By the way, you will notice that no prices are attached to those advertisements. Nope! And I finally was able to determine the price for a particular trip, the cost was astronomical--completely off the charts. For example, an 8-day trip costs $5,000 per PERSON(!), but there is no mention about whether or not there is a single supplement. In brief, if you want to get ripped off big time from this company, go ahead. Be my guest.

Nevertheless, those advertisements will keep coming, no matter what you do. You're STUCK! Therefore, NEVER subscribe! Lesson learned--the HARD way!

I recently had to call Yelp with help on my business account. I just wanted to say the agent I spoke to was really rude - cutting me off mid-sentence, acting condescending, etc. I am not taking it too personally, but I do think it's not good for business and is unnecessary. Kindness goes a long way.

I know Yelp is an ethically ambiguous company, I've known that for years. I used to work in sales about 10 years ago and always heard complaints from small business owners about the predatory nature of Yelp sales reps and the rude gaslighting staff. Sifting around the internet... it seems like there are lots of complaints of this nature.

I'm sure for many people, Yelp is just a job. But what is it with your bad reputation? Is it just top-down narcissism? Northern California tech bro snobbery? Too much Adderall? Lay off that $#*!, if so. Seriously. Go drink some green tea or something.

I only use Yelp for additional promotion, but it's been nice seeing Google Maps become a more often used and better version of Yelp. I know Google isn't a saint, don't get me wrong.

Anyways, mini rant over. Just maybe make an effort to hire and retain kinder people - don't cut off customers, it's rude. You're not that smart, that's the Adderall and cold brew talking. Get over yourselves.

They filter legit reviews to keep you at lower ratings if you call them they blame the system and automatic soft wear that decides what's best for Yelp and not for business it's empowering some of the worst customers to blackmail and destroy business reputation they allow to write lies and sugar coat to extreme made up stories these are the same people that go around take pictures or food plates and feel they can say anything within four walls without any confirmation from the business or seeking mediation jus like BBB no sir let them damage the business and ask them to advertise with them they should charge the consumer to pay to write a review and penalize them if they are proven false by taking their credit card in the system and have a balanced policy not one sided

Their reviews are a total scam. They hide a lot of reviews that are legitimate, because they use some algorithm that determines that if a reviewer is not a regular Yelp user they are not consider "legitimate". They are hurting a lot of businesses, And most of the ones with good reviews are those paying for adveritisng! Businesses should be allowed to opt out of being listed in this sham site, they are hurting good businesses with their ilegitimate software algorithm. They should be sued and shut down! Why has the government allowed them to continue with their sham?

Yelp is just a bunch of thieves hungry to get your money. They offered my business a coupon for free advertising. So I trust on they for a third time. The Senior Elite Account Director 3, Ryan Grant told me it will be free for a period of time, and he make me enable logo, license, keywords, portfolio, and more PAID features. On the third day of the campaign I already noticed a charge of $83 on my account and never received a call or a feeds from a customer.
Do not adverse on YELP. They just want to get your money. They don't remove reviews from people that never did business with you. Anybody can post a fake review on
Yelp and talk bad about your company and Yelp don't care at all.

Yelp is a scam
July 25, 2022

We are not even a physical business and they refuse to remove our listing because "there is so much data." They are taking our businesses data and using it for their benefit and using it against us so we have to pay to have things removed or "fixed". They are trolls and a scam of a site that should be illegal and shut down.

Yelp is ridiculous
July 24, 2022

I have an online profile for my business on Yelp and have had many positive reviews left there over the years, but about 10 of them have been removed from the listing and placed on another page which is difficult to even find due to their "algorithm". After talking to a Yelp rep (they call me about once or twice a year to try to get me to advertise with them), I was told that since the reviewer in each of those cases did not click a star * rating when filling out the review, the algorithm does not find that the review was relevant and removes it from the page. What a ridiculous business practice! 10 great reviews removed because the user did not click a star rating!

A. Reviewing on YELP

Yelp censors reviews and without verification, delegates some reviews to a section labeled "not recommended" and unrated even when the reviews are completely accurate. The fact they do this arbitrarily and without first issuing inquiries to the person's posting these should be deemed suspicious and indicative of Yelp's business practices and it's ethics.

Yelp also pays people to compose and post 5-Star reviews fr businesses attesting that some reviews on the site may be entirely concocted. I am attaching Yelp's ad which appeared on Craigslist Los Angeles in July 2022.

B. Families Using the Same PC

If your family shares a PC, Yelp will delete your reviews because they originate from the IP address. Contacting Yelp is futile because they will not respond.

C. Advertising on YELP

I posted an ad on Yelp advertising my business. The very next day, a woman from their Sales Department called me and convinced me I would only generate income if I allowed Yelp to provide me with the tools needed to advertise my business.

Yelp has developed a wonderful system which generates income for their company even if you don't acquire any business. In my opinion, their methodologies constitute a legal scam.
After as few weeks I received 4 actual inquiries and all that we wanted me to perform tasks that fell far outside of what I do and which I found suspicious.

Nonetheless, Yelp debited my account $350 despite no business generated by me. What Yelp does is levy a charge to you, each time a person views your ad.

I contested the charge but my appeal was quickly denied. I closed my account A few months later, I began receiving calls asking I restart their services. I said no but they continue to call so I've stopped answering Yelp's calls. The reviews of Yelp on Google, have a common thread. Also search the Better Business Bureau's website to view similar complaints to those posted on Google. Yelp is an operation with insidious business practices. And AVOID advertising with YELP.

I created a FREE listing on yelp.com for my business and immediately started getting calls from Yelp sales reps offering me advertisement. I declined, and asked to not be contacted anymore. They promised to put me on a Do Not Call list about 9 months ago, and also promised that I won't be getting any more calls. Today, I got another call from a Yelp rep. Called him back but only reached voicemail. Called Yelp directly and was hung up on twice, once when I asked to not be contacted again, and the next time when I asked for a supervisor right away. I called the third time and spoke with Rusty, who told me that no supervisors were available to speak with, but that I should send an email to *******@yelp.com. While I intend to follow up, the reps I spoke with made zero effort to assist me in this matter. The first rep I spoke with on 7/20/22 at 12:22p (engage quality assurance!) informed me that my phone number was NOT on the DNC list before hanging up on me. This means that Yelp will continue to make unsolicited calls to my business phone number, and there is no way for me to stop the calls. I feel like I've exhausted all of my options to reason with Yelp about this continued harassment, and am now seeking help from authorities to make the calls stop.

Yelp is a business that only hurts businesses. They put up any Review without asking questions like. Why does this business have 120 Good Reviews and only 1/2 bad ones in 14 years. Why does Yelp then call you and try to sell you advertising under the guise the bad reviews will be pushed down. They are the Devil. If you own a business you will soon find out.

Shutdown Yelp
July 4, 2022

My small business has been doing well and we need all the support we can get. I have worked so hard to gain the respect of my clients and when they give me 5 star reviews on yelp, for some "$trange" reason my reviews disappeared. Yelp had the audacity to tell me they don't believe the reviews!? I told them they can call the people, Plus I have pictures of the work I've done and that still wasn't good enough. And what's worst yelp have the nerve to harass me to pay for a service then I'll keep my stars and reviews! I hate yelp with a passion they're complete crooks!

Yelp.com, as with most businesses out there, are sending one-way communications about problems they have with things you're posting to businesses. I sent a message to a business that I thought was only going to that business, and I get this from a no-reply email address:

We're writing to you today to let you know that the Question you posted for Breakfast At Barneys was reported by the Yelp Community, and that our moderators have removed it.
The best questions are about customer-facing elements of the business, which can result in answers helpful to others. If you have specific questions about your own interactions with a business, we recommend reaching out to the business directly by phone, email, or through direct message on Yelp.

If you'd like to share your experiences with a business, we encourage you to write a review.

- The Yelp Support Team

First of all, I don't appreciate being scolded like some child. Second of all, I thought I was sending a message to the business, not for everybody to see on Yelp. They shouldn't have that 'send message' button on the page after I read the business response to me, if it isn't going directly to them.

What's really making me mad is there's no way to contact Yelp... and I mean NONE! Since they took it down, I don't have a copy of what I said, so I can't include that here. To hell with all these businesses that are talking AT people and not WITH people. I'm sick of that, and might as well bean Yelp since I can't respond to the email they sent me.

Screw that!

I had 4 reviews on my yelp page and yelp review 3 of the reviews. I called customer service to ask why the reviews were removed only to be told that they have a system in place that removes reviews based on some type of data to make sure the reviews are honest and accurate. How in the world is a system going to determine if something is honest and accurate? It doesn't make sense. I asked if I sent over proof proving that the reviews were legeit if they would repost them. The lady I spoke with said no that unforuntely once reviews are removed their is nothing they can do.

This is a $#*!y company to partner with because obviously they pick and choose which reviews they want to post on your business page, yet have it in their polices that they don't get involve with reviews. Complete an utter bs. This company does not care about your business are really helping its customers.

Norwegian cruise line the Alaskan cruise on the Bliss. The customer service that we have received is extremely poor we have received offers to make our trip better but by the time we were able to reach anyone they are telling us that the offers have expired. The agent that has been assigned to us I have left numerous messages for her to return my call as of today I have still not received a call from her. I had to go to another source in the system to finally try and do the offer I received and was told it was no longer available and I could not use it. When I asked to speak to a manager about it I was told I didn't need to speak to a manager because the offer was dead. We are looking forward to the Cruise but I am hesitant about what's gonna happen on the cruise because of the service we have received prior to the cruise. So if you are booking with norwegian cruise line don't expect excellent customer service because it is not there.
