An awful site. This is the biggest most clever scam method i'v ever heard of. I lost almost $100 hundred dollars to this site and and one to quibid both scams. These site are now more than one. Never again will I be fooled twice. After i lost all the money i watched the site and did the math, ya after the fact ya so stupid. The stuff I was seeing when i was bidding and afterwards lets just say wow I can't believe the government is not after them yet. LOOK for everyone go file a complaint with the BBB on line I did and I told them also that they use their logo BBB accreditted and guess what I found out the BBB has nothing to do with them and the other certified logos have nothing to do with them neither. Just A BIG SCAM. Go file a complaint with the BBB and file another complaint with the attorney general of sanfransisco just look it up on line its easy to do. They will start with a lawful civil suit that will take time but will be worth it. There is already a civil action going on for the other site just like this one called Quibids. ALL SCAMS ROBBING PEOPLE OUT OF HARD EARNED MONEY.
I was on the Ellen Degeneres webiste and there was an advertisement so I went into the website to look at it. I had to sign up nothing was said about you automatically were sign up for buying bids. All of a sudden a bill pops up for $75 Frankly I don't remember giving them any of my bank information but they had it and charged my account. Now if I report it to my bank they call the police and then get the FBI in on it. It is a totla scam and that one person who said there needs a class action suit filed is right. From what I have read I feel there are enough to file
I wish i had read the reviews before I wasted the 70 bucks to this fraudulant web site. It is a total scam... Dont do it... I am not a dumb person but this was not one of my brighter days... Moma always said you don't get something for nothing... Stay away...
I too fell for this, I can't believe I did! I should have remembered the old saying "if it is to good to be true it usually is". I lost $75.00 of my hard earned money only because I wanted to get my son a Kendal. Shame on those who do this to hard working people just because they are to lazy to get out and work like the rest of us. They will answer for it in the end one way or another.
It's a SCAM from the time you sign in, and get charged $75 form the GetGo! I'll be Disputing this charge with the Credit Card company.
DON'T DO IT!
This site needs to be shut down! It is such a scam. They have resorted to deceptive advertising by creating a fake "Channel 2 News Today" website: http://www.mychannel2newstoday.com/consumers/. The entire website is fake and the news article is fake. Stay away from xbids!
THIS IS A TOTAL FRAUD!
I NEVER EVEN KNEW I HAD BEEN CHARGED FOR ANYTHING UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE - I WAS MERELY FOLLOWING THE SUGGESTION OF A NEWSPAPER ARTICLE ON-LINE REFERENCING "20 FREE BIDS". THAT IS WHAT I THOUGHT I SIGNED UP FOR - NOT $75 OF "BIDS".
FOR EVERY LUCKY PERSON THERE ARE SURELY HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OF OTHERS THAT WERE RIPPED OFF.
CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND DISPUTE - THAT IS WHAT I AM DOING!
Gambling, greed, and the allure of the deal make this site seem attractive, but I can only advise to stay away. You'll be asked to purchase "bids" for around $50, then on your first "beginner" auction you'll be amazed how easy it was too purchase more bids--as you win another 25 bids for the ridiculously low price of a few pennies--plus a $2 transaction fee they throw in for fun. Thats where the fun ends.
xbids.com looks remarkably similar to QUIbids ( see the site jabber reviews on that sirte if you want to hear of a real rip-off). It has the identical graphic interface, and operation as Quibids... hmmmm... maybe they got creative and made another site with a dummy name--cant have too much of a good thing!
When it comes to anything of value, you'll waste hours watching alleged users bid up the price of items to ridiculous levels. You'll see
IPADS ( retail $700) sell for $45 and you may think thats a bargain... but lets look at the math. Each bid costs 60 cents, and to get to $45 Xbids received 4500 of them--all of them generated by real customers ( so they claim). Thats $2700 in revenue for a product that they simply order from a supplier who then adds their shipping fee. Not a bad profit!
Now, lets look at the prospective bidders. Of the 4500 bids, 4499 were losing bids--they got nothing for their money! Thats the same strategy as a pyramid scheme that has 12 levels! You do the math... Worse yet, you add the gambling spin to this, and you have a business model that can't fail--until someone shuts them down.
Yes, you'll find testimonials denying all of this--most written by their staff or their shills. They will argue that there is no internal bid generation, and that they lose money on many items. They claim that their margins are only slightly bigger than Walmarts, and that there is no wrong doing. They used to say the same thing about heroin 100 years ago.
My advice--demand your money back--call yoru credit card company--threaten legal action--and be a little smarter next time. Smarter than I was anyway :)
This site is an expensive scam. Stay away. It cost $75 to begin bidding. The only item I won was more bids. In addition there is no way to sign back in. It is more fun and just as profitable to watch the grass grow.
I have been waiting for someone in the customer service departmant to call me so I can get a refund. It has been 4 days and no phone call and the only communication with then is email. And when they do responed it is a genaric email stating that my issue is resovled. Well that's a joke, considering I do not have my money back.
It is a scam site! Very interesting to read other people's experiences. I, too, had the computer freeze every time I seemed about to win. Other players seems like they weren't real. I played for hours also. No wins because of the freezes. I read about the software and it says that auction sites can have the ability to control or stop auctions. I believe that is what is happening here. I also think they use shills to write letters and phony "advertisements" that look like reviews. Also, they would not answer any of my emails. Other sites always answered!
It is a scam and the liklihood of you winning anything but a voucher to get more bids is about nil. When you sign in you don't realize it but you are actually charged
75.00 to start bidding. Each bid is 60 cents. I have 136 bids left and there is almost no way to win anything. They have maybe 2 TVs a couple of cameras and one of two IPADS and then some ginsu knives hand sanitizer batteries and a vacuum cleaner PALLLEESE don't do this I am ashamed of how stupid I was to even try it
First of all, I was stupid enough to think these expensive electronics could ever sell for approximately 90% off of the retail price. I don't believe Xbids.com is a legitimate site. On 11-7-10 at 6:08pm Auction #9520 froze for the 2nd time with 13 seconds left, then said I had to log in to use the bidding feature. I was already logged in. Then, the timer went away & said no bids yet, but showed how high the bids went to ($50.69) with all of the names down the right side. It didn't show anyone winning and then suddenly went to 0 and showed I had spent $11.40. I was still dumb enough to keep bidding in hopes this was legitimate and I could buy this awesome 55 inch flat screen tv. At 7:27pm I "thought" I was going to win, the timer was at 1 second with me being the "winner", then the auction froze again and the timer was set at 13 seconds. By this time I had wasted over 3 hours of my time and $65.33 later. I had to log on again. I went to my watchlist this time and saw the tv I was bidding on and it showed a winner (supposedly). Funny how I was bidding for over 3 hours and saw a lot of the same names over and over, but never one time did the person who won (again, supposedly) ever place one bid. I don't trust this site what so ever. I wasted time and money (127 bids). One last thing, they suggest you start off bidding on the beginner auctions. And of course they only let you start at the beginner auctions only once. I think everyone who tries the beginner auction and bids on the vouchers to win bids are winning. This way it looks like it's easy to win these so called auctions and they don't even have to send you a product, they just give you however many bids you won, even though your not going to win anything with those bids. I can't believe I fell for this!
Looks good but I am finding difficult to post comment about xbids.com scam site.
I keep on getting message" please go back to your email message from us and sign up"
There is no place to log on.
Be very careful--the sight seems to have computer difficulty every time you are about to win. I received one email declaring me the winner of an IPad and then it was cancelled after I gave my credit card info--I would be very cautious
Bids cost. 60 cents each not a penny and they claim to ship items within 2 days, they do not. If you win, per say, a Walmart gift card then you have to wait for Walmart to ship it (supposedley), not xbids. Save your money a buy the item at cost, these people are making millions off of us idiots.
I tried to contact to get my money back. You are tricked into paying too much for bids. Cannot contact anyone.
Auction 3229: Someone purchased an X-Box 360 250GB for $75.74 with a savings, they claim of $254.25 off of the value price of $329.99. The reality, at 60 cents a bid, the aggregate bids in the 2 Cents increments this auction went in, X-Bids generated as much as $2272. 20 in bidding income alone plus $75.74 as well as other costs (e.g., shipping, etc.). Note that sometimes folks can buy bids in vouchers at a discount by bidding on the4em and some bids are given away in promotions, so the revenues generated might have been less. But at even $2000, this is, in my opinion, a ripoff in the final analysis except of the lucky person who actually won it... an let's give the benefit to this site and assume that person exists and is not a shill! But then, how much did they have to spend in bids in order to buy this item? That we do not know.
Answer: I have never seen a telephone number on my credit card monthly statement where you could not reach some one from that business and which turned out to be a fake computer generated answer to mislead you and your credit card company. I would call it a fraudulent statement by XBIDS. As soon as one looks at this auction site the first thing which hits your eyes is the clock showing you the exact time in hours, minutes and seconds remaining for that auction to close. Every body is not as smart as you are and find out some where that they do not mean what they show in red capital letters and can change their timimg rules in the last few seconds as many time as they want. Are you telling me they do not mean what they actually state in capital letters on their web site before they take your $75? Take some time and look at hundreds of complaints about XBIDS and decide for yourself if this is not scamming people by misleading and fraudulent advertisement. As far as the investigative department of my credit card company is concerned it is already 37 days since they reversed the charges and the last time I called they told me that they have received hudreds of complaints about XBIDS including all the printed copies of complaints about XBIDS I sent them including the BBB investigation about XBIDS. The last person at my CC company told me that as the XBIDS does not answer their own telephone number when my credit card company has been calling them on that number about customer's concerns he does not see how XBIDS can charge my account again as you suggested. Anyway I will definetely post the result when it is available. Reply Reply With Quote.
