Really unfortunate - i loved the old site and the new one is terrible. Can't get information on the opening page like before, have to do multiple clicks (ad revenue, yes!) to get what used to be easy and available on the first page. Unreadable, not user friendly, am now looking for my next favorite weather site to replace this one.
NO zoom, stupid little flags everywhere, bring back intellicast. This is the worst site ever. New and improved stinks like manure. I liked the original intellicast from 8 yrs ago but at least the last one was usable. Also, why does the weather channel get the tornado radar (the one with the green and red) but the general public does not? Could save lives, but that is another story. At least the old site had decent zoom. Everything about this site is stinks.
WU was on my bookmarks bar; always kept it up. Accuweather has replaced it. At least I can get a quick 5 day forecast. I finally got used to the old design and now you've really messed it up: slow, too much button pushing to get what was on page 1. I was a member; no longer.
I've used WU for years. Recent changes making the site unstable/unreliable combined with their view that earth and sky are falling due to the politically-charged, climate change issue have made me question WU.
Recommend WU fix their site glitches and stop claiming all weather happens now due to "climate change"... just report the weather and move on.
They should simply shut things down if they are not interested in fixing problems. Webcams attached to a PWS did never really work, now the cams go into an "approval" process (what an utterly BS...) and nobody EVER looks at approving these webcams.
I am ready to pull my PWS and stop supporting them with my free data. Either they move their behinds or will go belly up soon with the crappy support they provide. Well DON'T provide.
Practical decisions of whether to venture out or not. It did not attempt to be a detailed weather site for professionals. The current version is complex to use, and filled with too much info to answer the question:... Is it safe to venture to a venue outside?
This is an example of when a company is bought by another and looses its integrity ( what made it unique). And supposedly it was done for cost-considerations. ( Shame of You) Drop the new version, and you will have made a definite profitable cost decision. May the Classic rest in peace, and never be forgotten.
The precipitation amounts are rarely even in the ballpark. Lately the temperature isn't even accurate. I spent money on the app and will not be renewing now that I see what garbage it is.
I've been a paying customer of this site for years. Now software bugs are all over the place, and messages to their tech support via email, FB, and twitter are all ignored. This was once not just the greatest weather web site, but one of the greatest sites on the web. So sad to see it abandoned and falling apart due to corporate ownership.
You made a beautiful baby, everyone was happy and supportive of this benefit to humanity. Or maybe, you did not make this baby, but are jealous and soulless corporate raider that uses its money and power to tear down all that is good and useful to serve your greed and ignorance. Either return the baby that you are holding hostage to is rightful creators so it can serve humanity as originally intended, or you will continue to expose the fact you are not really in the weather information dissemination business online or on the cable system, but rather another shill to undermine this country and it safety, security and happiness in the relentless pursuit of your race to bottom of worthlessness and vapidity.
I have used you weather underground app for almost 3 years on the same phone. It used to be great but slowly its performance has gone from bad to terrible and there is no technical support responding. It crashes every time I open it and it crashes until I close everything running in the background, then it might work. The same goes for my wife and my adult kids. I did give it 1 star for once when you do get it up and running it works good. Thank You
I have used intellicast for 10 years. This new layout is confusing and the maps are terrible. Your title says same maps as intellicast is not true. I'll now be switching to accuweather. Very disappointed! I loved intellicast
Rip wu. I dont usually review but its a shame to see the destruction of a great piece of scientific information. Good competitors abound. Discontinuing scientific forecast discussion was the last straw for me.
Why did they do this? Since the update, it's only had the current temperature in my area shown once (it's just showing dashes every other time), the hourly and weekly graphs are hard to read and uninformative, all the little local weather stations, which was the whole reason for having the app, are invisible on the map without extra clicks and there are far fewer of them now. For God's sake it doesn't even show me the temperature at the airport for my city now. It's really, really, REALLY bad now.
Update: They don't answer email or social media either, so save your strength. I mean, complain publicly but don't expect a response. Wish we could have a class action suit against these guys.
Original review: I'm grateful to the reviewer who said Wund was bought by another company. Perhaps that explains why, when I volunteered $10 for an ad-free UX, the ads came back soon afterwards, and customer service did not reply. Used to be a wonderful site. All things must pass.
My experiences with Wundermap very closely reflect what many others have reported. It used to be great when I first came across it in 2013 and worked well on either my aging desktop computer or cheapo tablet! It loaded quickly and was easy to use. An amazing level of local detail could be obtained.
In the last couple of years it's just become a dead loss and I hardly ever can be bothered to struggle with it. It's really slow and clunky and far less information is available than before. It's always reverting to Fahrenheit and forgetting my location.
I did wonder if it was my equipment but judging by other reviews it would appear not. It did seem strange that any website would configure itself to only work properly on high-end equipment and thereby exclude many potential users.
I might try this windy.com that was suggested earlier.
I used Intellicast daily for almost a decade. We work outdoors. The 10 day graph view was very useful... not always completely accurate however we know how to interpret graphed temperature, barometric pressure etc. to make daily decisions for our crews. It kept us better informed and loyal. The new interface seems complicated, slow with childlike pictures and captions. You really used to attract a sophisticated user... now it isn't even G. E. D level!
Just my experience over the last few years on Chrome, Windows10, Nexus 5, Pixel XL. Super frustrating. Nothing works well anymore. App crashes. Animation is super slow and buggy. Button don't respond. On and on... Feels like it went from dedicated passionate engineer team of 10+ to that poor sad soul in the basement with the red stapler. What happened? Who cares?
For years wunderground had been the place to go to send your personal weather station data to, if only for their excellent online display... but not any more.
The new PWS page is the worst thing I've ever seen - badly sized, badly laid out, poorly planned and generally crap. It doesn't update automatically; displays empty panels for no good reason and makes me feel that I don't want my data there any more. Even their q & a section (which was always a tough place to find) has now disappeared - and they don't reply to questions via email either.
All in all every sign that they've gone bad - so I'm off and I'd advise the rest of you who want their data displayed to do the same.
This forecast is rarely accurate. Learn to read radar, the people who write these forecasts obviously cant. Although they will change there forecast from partly cloudy to chance of rain 20minutes after it starts pouring
I can't believe they have kept it up this long. I switched after they killed a great website but check back now again just to giggle. They arent joking about Brutus -he not only destroyed the servers but apparently ate all personnel with coding skills. If you want an object lesson in how NOT to do things then look no further than WU.
Answer: This was deliberate calculated sabotage for some reason
Answer: It won't come back. IBM bought The Weather Company to get at the data so they could package and sell that to their corporate customers using their "Watson" cloud services. Individuals mean nothing. That they've managed to so thoroughly destroy what was once the premiere weather site says a lot about the incompetence behind their core "Watson" products. You might want to tell IBM that.
Answer: They hired a bunch of idiots to manage and design their new site. This included removing features and gutting the radar.
Answer: Yes. We have many employees who come to work each day desperate to appear productive and relevant. We ask them to destroy functional lean websites with bloated nonsense. Meanwhile, our executives require more money so we like to devastate communicative websites with ad-infested infestations of pus-riddled idiocy. Thanks for asking!
Answer: Pointless giving feedback/complaints. I tried this and got an automated reply telling me how much better it was!
Answer: Your local Tv station meteorologist.
