Here we go again, another pointless change... to cater to tweens on phones, maybe? Who knows, but as in the past, it just gets dumber and dumber, uglier and uglier. Less information, more white space, less hard weather data. Now you have to switch from tab to tab to see a forecast OR current conditions - Not both. But I guess putting actual real data wouldn't be politically correct. WU has been going downhill ever since the Weather Channel consumed them.
This website is useless. Why? Because Wunderground or the corporate entity that owns it (IBM?) has loaded so much crap on the site that it's become totally dysfunctional. Nothing loads or, if it does, it moves slower than a glacier. It's always intrigued me how corporations and other large entities, as they become larger and more profitable, seem to attract the most dimwitted and incompetent of employees. Probably because they're looking for subservience, not competence. Regardless, they have totally *******@cked up this website.
I can't add much to the litany of one-star reviews that have been posted in the past couple of weeks, since the redesign removed lots of information I consider vital, and made other info, that used to be on a single screen, accessible only after clicking on different tabs.
BUT what I can tell you is I found a partial replacement. It's not as good, imho, as the old Wunderground, and if anyone can suggest something better I'd love to hear it, but for the time being I'm using the intellicast website instead: http://www.intellicast.com/Local/Weather.aspx?location=USPA1609
I echo the sentiments of many here when I say this used to be THE SITE for all my weather needs, and now it swirls in the toilet bowl of websites that I expect it will die soon What was great is now a shell. I'll not be renewing my $5 annual membership. I can get more bang for my buck with free Intellicast and an ad blocker.
Where did the basically 'good' app go. The widget on my phone disappeared with no replacement in sight. The app is unreadable and full of spam. They don't even have to gather the data, since it's crowd sourced from 1000s of home weather stations, just compile and display the data. I'm looking for an opensource weather app now, this is a waste of my time...
Also I had paid to use the app with no adds, but can't find anyway to reactivate that 'account' or any record of me paying... strange. Wouldn't hand them a cent now...
What the hell are you thinking? What the hell did you do? This new format is useless garbage, and has taken what was one of the best and turned it into the weather page for dummies. I've run my PWS through Wunderground for years, but I am shopping hard for somewhere else to go.
The UI is confusing and information is not as readily available as it once was. It seems some propeller heads decided to mimic windows 10 and the terrible metro interface. Info is either missing or moved to some sub-screen that nobody knows about. Is it wunderground (IBM) or Microsoft?
Whatever raw deal was made to tank Intellicast and substitute wunderground in it's place, was a real boner move. Nothing about this new site works logically or half as intelligible as what it replaced. You can't even click on the main map to zoom in on your area. When you do enter your zip code, you get redirected to this clucky 1990's era toy map that looks like it was made by Fisher-Price. The whole site operates like a high school project. WU can't go away fast enough.
The Android app has taken a big step backwards. The graphics used to be crisp, clear and concise while giving good detail. The new graphics are more low-resolution and rather clunky and confusing compared to the old graphics. The neighborhood weather stations I relied on for the most accurate conditions are no longer to be found in the weather station list. And to top it off, a notification saying it had updated the weather showing on my phone home page woke me up at 1am and there does not appear to be a way to turn the sound off for that notification. I felt like a respected adult user with the old app graphics, now I feel like I'm being treated like a kindergartner.
The original Weather Underground was A-1 in terms of in-depth and reliable weather info and appears to have been significantly compromised as present options do not offer the same reliability or depth in terms of actual information.
Original site managers have over-the-top credibility so the question becomes... what happened to the 'REAL' Weather Underground?
Useless cartoon rainbow-circle thermometer takes entire opening screen. It's the ONLY app without a single-screen weekly-forecast. Daily forecast graph-chart only has 3 days per screen, least of ANY app. No rain-total, wind info, or prior-day info on daily forecast graph-chart. Hourly-graph split into 3 graphs, so can't see temp & wind in same graph. It takes many swipes & touches to get to hourly-graph. Informative daily forecast graph is 3 swipes down. Graph x-axis is way too overstretched, & no verticle gridlines, so graph is almost unreadable. Landscape-view has same number of hours on graph as portrait-view, so is ENTIRELY useless
... with what so many others ate saying, this new app is so representative of our time, shiny, overweight and bloated. Harder to use than the old version, and HELLO there are no precip totals to be found... on a WEATHER APP! Why must we always fix what is not broken and make life ever more complicated?
Hate this new site, years ago WU had a great site, they changed to the worst, but at least they left WU classic, after a few years they dropped that and I went over to intellecast for their discriptive one page 10 day forecast... now WU has managed to screw that up now.
Their site takes forever to load, many times completely loading without the forecast. I Saw on national weather service site that we are in a high wind warning tomorrow, nothing mentioned on WU. Is this the way it will be during tornado season? Dangerous
Is it Weather Undergrounds mission to take over and screw up all weather sites?
We have relied on this site for years for our personal weather station. The recent changes as part of the merger with Intellicast have all been for the worse. Rounding off data is NOT OK. Eliminating Custom View is NOT OK. Not responding to customers concerns is NOT OK. Classic case of someone running a decent business into the ground.
Since the acquisition of Intellicast, the transition to Wundercast has been a horrible experience!
On my (Chrome) browser, the site will often work for the first city chosen, but then when trying to select another city, the site won't properly refresh, and all of the tabs (e.g. "10-day") won't show.
The organization of the Wundercast site is far inferior to the former Intellicast site, difficult to navigate, difficult to read (the Wundercast maps are worse than the old Intellicast organization), and often fail to properly load.
Way to destroy a formerly good service (Intellicast) than many of us relied on daily!
I have been a member for years. Without any warning, the site was changed radically a couple of weeks ago, and now doesn't function in a way that is useful to me. I complained and was told I would receive a refund. I asked again today, as I did not get the refund and was told that they tried, but it wouldn't go through, and they provided me with a lame link that doesn't work either, and said I wouldn't get a refund, because what they offered in compensation was adequate. Ripoff.
The recent update of the site pages was a HUGE disappointment. The greatest loss for me was the removal of the 10-day forecast chart. It was the BEST thing at the site.
Now it looks like all the other sites. I get a little sick of folks trying to improve a site and ending up with a pile of junk. At one time I highly recommended the site to all my friends. NO LONGER!
They have been bought again and there is no support. I had my PWS working and then one day it wasn't. Can't get logged in to see whats up. When you go to the log in page there is a statement reading that they have upgraded there system and to reset your password if you can't log in. When you go though the reset process you never revive an email that was working fine before. You go to the support page and there is no phone number to call you have to send an email to which you never here from them.
Prior to the purchase by the Weather Channel, they were VERY dependable. Now they can't predict more than 30min into the future. Do NOT trust the forecast. Any more. Sad but they are no longer setting the standard.
Another update today and now the map is smaller with a huge blank space at the bottom of the screen that cant be filled in. The new default map settings are stupid and it doesn't remember my settings. This was one of my 3 maps for comparison and seeing a quick recent radar map, not anymore, now it's complete garbage. Removed from my bookmarks and deleting my account. Fear mongers at weather channel have completely destroyed this site. Radar data is so far from reality now it's useless. https://www.wunderground.com/wundermap?lat=28.02&lon=-80.68&radar=1
Answer: This was deliberate calculated sabotage for some reason
Answer: It won't come back. IBM bought The Weather Company to get at the data so they could package and sell that to their corporate customers using their "Watson" cloud services. Individuals mean nothing. That they've managed to so thoroughly destroy what was once the premiere weather site says a lot about the incompetence behind their core "Watson" products. You might want to tell IBM that.
Answer: They hired a bunch of idiots to manage and design their new site. This included removing features and gutting the radar.
Answer: Yes. We have many employees who come to work each day desperate to appear productive and relevant. We ask them to destroy functional lean websites with bloated nonsense. Meanwhile, our executives require more money so we like to devastate communicative websites with ad-infested infestations of pus-riddled idiocy. Thanks for asking!
Answer: Pointless giving feedback/complaints. I tried this and got an automated reply telling me how much better it was!
Answer: Your local Tv station meteorologist.
