I placed an order on 12/1, I received all but one item. I tried emailing 3 times but I got no answer. I finally called today 12/22, the customer service girl kept talking over me & she never answered my question. Hopefully I'll get a replacement in 3 weeks, merry Christmas! She also had the nerve to tell me I wasn't listening to her. I finally had to just hang up before I totally blew my top.
Be very careful to watch your credit card a couple months later you start getting charged $14.95 a month
What on Earth catalog disrespected me with the utmost vigor. I tried to work with them about changing my membership to another credit card, but they were totally unreasonable, disrespectful, they maltreat their customers, and the icing on the cake happened when they charged me $14.95 for my membership fee to another credit card without my knowledge or consent. Totally disrespectful! Please beware!
They charge you automatically for a "VIP Insider What on Earth" membership which must be hidden in the small print. Major hassle trying to get PayPal to reverse it. DO NOT ORDER!
I ordered some T-shirts from this company about two or three years ago during the holidays. A few months later my bank contacted me because I had been charged $14.95 a month to "join their club", which is something I had never signed up for nor gave an approval for. Buyer beware when you order things from this company as they will do the same thing. If they have access to your card when you buy something from them, you need to monitor your card statements monthly. I didn't find out for three months after they charged almost $50.00.
If I could give no stars, I would. I ordered an item, and after 4 days, contacted company because item was not shipped. They said vendor had to get back to them in 48 hours. Never heard back, then contacted again. Their pat answer is we will contact vendor and get back to you in 48 hours. It's now 7 days from order and I will contact my credit card company to rescind the money. The company is a scam! DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THEM!
I made my first purchase with a promotional discount of 10%, but when PayPal posted the charge, the discount was not included. I called What on Earth and after holding for 20 minutes was advised that the representative couldn't make the correction, but agreed it was owed. I contacted PayPal and they gave me the credit after contacting WOE….
I had to return one item for a size adjustment and never received the replacement, just the credit for the item. Fast forward 30 days, and I placed a whole new order with a promotional 15% discount…. Today I checked the status of the order and they have cancelled the entire thing.
It was their original error and they couldn't or wouldn't make it right, but I guess I'm barred from doing business with them… absolutely ridiculous business practices!
Sales brochure had 'collectible Native American chief and bison bills' $5.00 and $10.00 bills from 1899 and 1901. These are FAKES. Not original real bills from that era. Description should be clearer. Obviously set to Deceive the buyer. So disappointed.
We're very sorry to hear of your disappointment with this item! As stated in our description, the $10 bill has been overprinted with a fine-quality image of an American Bison featured on the 1901 bank note, originally printed on the Centennial of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. As such, this is genuine US legal tender, and a Certificate of Authenticity is included. We do appreciate your feedback and will be happy to assist you with a return, if desired. I sent one of these DYI kits as a gift. (the miniature greenhouse). The instructions are horrendous. The kit has hundreds of very tiny pieces and the only instructions are pictures to follow. The description indicates ages 14 and up. I found that quite doubtful. The person I sent this to is quite knowledgeable about assembling products, but this one had him baffled. Not a good item to order, for anybody.
We're very sorry to hear this but thank you for letting us know! Please feel free to reach out to us by phone at 1-800-441-2242 or via live chat on our website, and we'll be glad to assist you with a replacement or refund. - What on Earth Catalog Customer Care
When my small order never arrived, I contacted them and they resent in 2 days. I think I had a porch pirate.
I ordered a couple of fun, quirky Christmas presents from What on Earth. This month a charge from WHATONEARTHVIPINSI for $15.77 appeared on my credit card. I called - and the customer service agent said "you were opted in to the VIP Insider program." I was opted in? I didn't even (accidentally) opt myself in?
I bought two quirky presents. I my have gone back there to find another gift at some point, but I am sure I never signed my self up to be a VIP insider. This is deceptive at best.
The customer did refund the charges without much grief. I appreciate that.
I must admit I probably won't go to that website again for fear of getting signed up as an insider!
The invoice in the box listed the product I ordered, but the item itself was not the same thing and not what I wanted. A return shipping label was included but the fee would be $8.95, which is half the item's cost. Won't order from whatonearth again
I received their catalogue without an order form. I phoned for assistance to snail mail my order, was jerked around by "Carlos", "Tyrell" and finally "Sade" HUNG UP ON ME! I am sorry I cant give zero stars.
After I placed my order, I received a prompt asking for my email address to get free shipping. I provided this, but the site then informed me that there would be a $14.95 monthly charge for the free shipping, I closed out of this sign up process, as it did appear to be a multi-step procedure. I didn't get a prompt to authorize the $14.95 monthly payment, which is what is typically done when a company is going to charge you $ for a service. A month later, I'm checking my credit card statement and see a $14.95 charge from the month previous, and another pending for this month. I put in the dispute with my credit card company, and also cancelled the card. I then called WOE to voice the complaint. Listen, I've worked in Marketing and Communications for a Fortune 100 company for the last 10 years. I also have a Masters degree in business communications. This free shipping sign up process is definitely intentionally deceptive. I told the WOE customer service representative this much, while also being very calm and advising that I know it's not personally her fault, and my main reason for calling was to add to the complaints about this so they'd hopefully change this practice. I assume she had heard these complaints before, as she sounded frustrated and reminded me there was a prompt in the sign up process saying I'd be charged a monthly fee. Again, this prompt only came up after entering your email address for the free shipping. She said by putting in my email address, I had effectively signed up for the service. That doesn't make sense to me!
Ordered items almost a month ago. Received two of the items and never received any updates on the third item. Have sent three e-mails and then was on hold for 30 minutes just trying to get information. Completely unresponsive, no regard for the consumer AT ALL. Whoever is in charge of this company would never last in the real corporate world, would have been fired long ago for not doing their job. There merchandise is so-so, and with the completely unacceptable customer service on top of that, DON'T BOTHER! Not worth it.
A Disgraceful company who doesn't know how on earth to deliver their products. Ordered 2 t shirts on November 28,2020 and never received them. Obviously are will not pay for them. Will never order from this company again. Fair WARNING to others. STAY AWAY!
Item backordered, but credit card charged because they created a shipping label. 40 minute wait to reach Customer service. You will get the runaround. When promised a Refund, you will not get it.
I ordered a t-shirt and a knit top. The T-shirt is fine, but the top was patchwork with some seams on the inside, where they should be, and about half on the outside, where seams do not belong. I returned the top, and WOE (apt abbreviation) sent another, identical to the first. I asked for a refund ($64.99 plus tax) on August 5,2020, and was assured that I would get a refund, so I mailed it back using WOE's prepaid parcel return label on August 6,2020. Several days after I returned the second top, I got a letter from WOE, dated July 30,2020, saying, "We received a call from you regarding a product requiring a return authorization." This is odd because I did not call them until August 5. The letter gave me a "return authorization number" and noted that the number "will expire in less than 30 days," how much less it did not say. Because I had already returned the defective item, on their dime, I had no way to use their "authorization number." The letter also threatened "additional charges" (unstated) if I did not "return the merchandise as soon as possible." As of today, November 6,2020, I have not received a refund. My opinion: Do not do business with this company.
Submitted an online order and was issued an order number. Then I started getting emails saying I had left items in my cart, i. E. my order was never made,
I tried calling and after 10 minutes of waiting I hung up to try another day. I'm currently now on the phone waiting again for a customer service representative. 15-20 minutes and finally talk to someone. My order was good, the "empty cart" is a glitch in their software.
The representative was quick and friendly, but the wait time is excessive. Bumped my rating from a 1 to a 2. If you place an order, just hope you don't have an issue.
Beware! If you get the offer for free shipping and all you have to do is enter your email do not do it! The company uses this as an "ok" to sign up for their VIP insider Program and you will then be charged a recurring payment of $16.26 per month for NOTHING!. It is a total scam! I fell for this scam. It is such an unacceptable way to do business. If I had known, I would have just paid for the shipping charges. Now I have had to call my credit card company to dispute the recurring charges. I did call what on earth and they did cancel my supposed "membership" but I would not have had to do any of this if not for this deceptive practice. I have no problems with any of the items I purchased from the company. It is just this procedure that I find shady and needs to be addressed.
