Terrible

This card is terrible I used it for 5 years for my direct deposits. Just recently they blocked my card with $900 in it and will not release it to me and or tell me why it is blocked. Yoi can't get any answers from any one when you call and not only that the reps there barley speak english. I am still trying to get my money back its been a week and I still have no answers and I have 900 dollars sitting in an account that I can't touch and I'm broke. I would love some $#*!ing answers walmart money card

Where's my money

I have been waiting for over 24 hours to access my money...been told some issues and they are working on resolving...in the meantime I can't get anyone to answer a phone and I am being charged late fees for a bill I can't pay because I can't get my money...Would not recommend this card to anyone

Third party thieves

Walmart, green-dot, and the ghost. These are the suspects. Before my money was swept right under my feet. My last purchase was actually Walmart. We were getting stuff for my daughter's birthday. Had no issue's with the purchase. Next headed to pick up the cake we ordered. When ready to pay. My card declined, three times. So I checked the mobile app and sadly found out my bank account completely wiped out. Bogus charges from out of state. So immediately called tech support. WOW! So basically was told that they couldn't do anything. They say even though its in pending. Wait until its processed and then calls us back or go online and file a report. I so confused why it couldn't be canceled. So yes needless to say. My money is now gone. So there you have it the The THREE THIEVES. I WILL BE CLOSING MY ACCOUNT

Too many red flags.

My dad mistakenly purchased these as gift cards. They want your SSN to activate the account (red flag much?) and send out your new cards. Upon activation you will immediately be charged with a maintenance fee that you are not warned about, and bothered with requests to direct deposit your paychecks into this new card. If you didn't know of the immediate fees, and, like me, emptied the card onto something like Amazon or Steam Games, congratulations, your card is now overdrawn! Customer service is hit and miss; they might pick up the phone, but you are often told the wait time is less than 1 minute, and no one picks up the phone. When you do get an answer you are likely to be confronted with someone with a very thick Indian accent that does not speak English well (red flag again?)... After arguing with them that it is ridiculous that you are charged a maintenance fee right after activating a card and trying to close the account soon after, your account is still not showing closed! Let's get back on the line with someone from overseas asking for our SSN again, because it totaly doesn't make anyone feel uncomfortable EVER!

Bottom line, not a gift card. Might be ok for a parent funding a student, or teaching responsibility to a teen, but that is if you trust it enough (I don't). There are many other options including actual bank accounts with trusted local banks, and phone apps that allow money transfers without charges. Weigh your options.

(Please don't ever give out your full SSN over the phone to anyone! If you don't feel comfortable hang up and call the company directly or use a different number!)

Not secure

This card is terrible I've used it for several years and about twice a year my money has disappeared to hackers Sure you can dispute Which is quite a process then your card is canceled about 10 days later you get a replacement.
No more Walmart card for me.
My advice use any but this one

DONT DO IT

This is a HORRIBLE company, I have had many issues with them since I got my card a few months ago. Recently I got charged three times at a gas station but on the gas station side it didn't go through. When I checked my account there were three pending charges. This was on August 27th and I have been calling walmart ever since. I either can't get through or the person I talk to has no solution to this problem. Now they are telling me it should be back in the account Sept 7th. As soon as it's figured out I will be closing this account. I would not recommend them to anyone. I hope someone files a lawsuit because it is needed.

The rudest people I've ever spoken to, and I mean that they will hangup on you,you ask for management can't get none so I'm assuming that they're working from home I even called back and end up speaking to the same person which is beyond me can't get anything done. I had the direct deposit had to wait on my money coming in the Thursday then Friday I would advice people not to do the direct deposit are you will be waiting. And please with that sorry $#*! txt yeah y'all not gonna do anything but believe me giants do fall if it's not from people stealing from y'all, it's going to be because of your sorry customer service. It's all true what I stated

I made a purchase on 12/10/20. The purchase was made with Wal-Mart.com. They cancelled the purchase on 12/13/20 because they didn't have the item in stock. Wal-Mart.com reversed the charges on 12/15/20. I was told that my money would be refunded to my card by 12/22/20. It still isn't on my card. The customer service representative are rude and they hang the phone up on you when you ask to speak to a supervisor. I wonder why it only takes seconds for them to take your money off your card and now it's going on 2 weeks and I'm still waiting on a refund. I suggest that you don't make a purchase with a Wal-Mart money card unless you can afford to let them hold your money until they feel like giving it back to you.

Replacement card
June 11, 2021

Not giving any stars. I reported my card lost on June 4th. I did a chat session and was told it would be 7 to 10 days to receive my new card. I then asked if it's possible to get any funds from account. I use this for direct deposit and was told I can't do anything until my card comes. On June 10th I spoke with someone who said my card hadn't been sent out yet. So 6 days after I reported it still not mailed. Now I'm told I should get it on the 17th. That's two weeks and three weeks pay that I can't access. Thanks a lot. When the card comes I am taking my funds off and direct deposit with my Navy credit union or Chase bank accounts. Totally disgruntled customer I may even stop shopping in store too!

I am a 70 yr old disabled Vietnam vet who tried to withdraw $ from an ATM that I didn't know was broken. After not getting my money then calling the bank, they said funds would be returned in 24 hrs. GreenDot is telling me I won't get my $ for 45 days! This happened on the 4th of June! I get paid once a month! That is all the money I have for food,gas,and bills for the MONTH! And I won't see any back until AFTER I get paid next month! WTH? Been with them for over 10 years, now I'm rethinking that choice.

Been with Wal-Mart money card for over 15 years. 2 weeks ago someone somehow made an ATM withdrawal without my cards or pin. I called WMC and told them what was going on and filed a dispute and was denied even though I sent proof that I was over 300 miles away and no one but me and my wife have cards or have the pin. I called and opened a dispute a second time and before my paperwork got there they closed it out again. Theie customer service is horrible and they never understand what your saying due to outsourcing to India and they don't care about your money either. Lost over 300 one this but it won't happen again. I will never use WMC or anything affiliated with greendot bank ever again.

Unhappy customer

This use to be a good card. I have had my card since 2008. Yesterday, I experienced really poor customer service on multiple calls. Almost as if the agents did not want to help me. I will NO longer use this card as I am appalled with the service I have received.

I was recently charged 4 $15 overdraft fees in one day. I was told several times it was done in error, which it was, and that the money would be refunded in 2 days but I never received a refund. Every time I call they say I have to open a new claim that the last case was closed and they decided I was not incorrectly charged for this. I made a transaction after 6pm, and my account was brought to a positive balance in 12 hours but I was charged BEFORE the 24 hour period. They still will not give me my money back.

I put my direct deposit onto this card every two weeks, and they are always turning off my overdraft when needed, and then you have to wait almost a month to use again. Then they start charging you fees even if you put the money back into your account within 24 hours you get hit with overdraft fees anyway. When speaking with customer service, all they do is copy and paste the script to the screen, and will keep reiterating the same response over and over, when you ask them to make it make sense.
I had no overdrafts since they recently turned it on the 16th, one yesterday, and now it's back off again, the script stating that the 11th overdraft (all new to me). So unable to use again until the 16th of this month. I will be moving my direct deposit elsewhere. Glad I didn't send them any referrals, and I've deposited a lot of money with this company.

Find another card that doesn't charge you for the use of their overdraft feature, and also that does not punish you for using it.

My debit card expired I called several times to ensure delivery prior. The card did not arrive and was not even ordered I have no access yo my money they will not overnight the card even though they were responsible for the issue. I was hung up on even on the corporate level many times horrible service I will be closing my account and do not recommend this service

Slowly, money has been drained from my account. Small amounts of money here and there. I've been keeping track of it as well as taking photos.
Walmart has charged me multiple times for trying to get my money back. And it was there fault my money is coming up missing off of my account. This last time, $29.48 came up missing off of my account. They apologize, and they took notice that money was slowly disappearing. And they said that they were going to do something about it. This has been going on for the last month. So far, they have found almost 60 dollars, disappeared off of my account and went absolutely nowhere. Do not use the Walmart money card. Whoever is in control of this is slowly taking small amounts of money from people like us who get our paychecks deposited here and we don't notice it. I promise somebody's getting very rich scamming from so many people. There's going to be a class action lawsuit. And I promise I will get in on this.

Switching to Chime

Only go with Wal-Mart money card if you're looking to be tortured. Their customer service is horrible. I waited OVER AN HOUR for someone to pick up the line & they hung up on me before I could say a word. Their app has constant glitches and, if you're the kind of person that locks your card, good luck getting it unlocked when you need to use it. Go with chime. There's no monthly fee, their app is always working, much easier to read, & much more user friendly. I honestly don't know what chime's customer service is like because I've NEVER NEEDED to call them. I'm so happy to be getting rid of this stupid Wal-Mart card...

They returned my stimulus because I needed a new card (which I had already ordered) so instead of just holding the payment until my card was activated so they could deposit it to my account they returned it. I sat here for two or three weeks waiting for money that was never coming and they never bothered to let me know that. My family suffered because of it! I just think it's really sad because you know... if it's Walmart's Money they want to know where every dime is but don't give anyone any notice when you're messing with your money. And to make it all worse they actually notified me that they had my payment so I had reason to be waiting I couldn't bother to come back and notify me that no WE sent it back.

Do not use this card
December 20, 2021

Card is complete fraud. After putting money on the card wouldn't let me use as debit card at all. Called customer service and spoke to manager and said I was only able to use it to buy stuff in Walmart no cash back k or nothing. So buy debit card to not be able to use as debit card and won't give your money back. Customer service manager said I could only use it to buy stuff in store and hung up on me.
