The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with customers frequently praising the quality of digital content and a broad selection of titles. However, a significant number of reviews highlight ongoing frustrations with customer service, particularly regarding unresponsive support, login issues, and unresolved technical problems. Many users express dissatisfaction with the handling of account management and refunds, leading to a growing sentiment of distrust. The overall trend indicates that while the product offering is appreciated, the lack of effective customer support severely undermines customer satisfaction and loyalty.

I loved Vudu at first and found tons of content I enjoyed. But after emailing their worthless support people three times about movies that stopped playing mid-way through I never heard a thing back from them. Vudu customer service sucks the big one. Adios Vudu!
I gave it 5 stars, would have given 4. However... a lot of 1 star on here doesn't have anything to do with Vudu from reading their review.
I have had Vudu for a few years... in the beginning it would buffer with me as well, however, I had 6 mbps, I now have 24 mbps and it never buffers even on 4K movies.
I do like to have a hard copy, however, we are dropping most hard copies and opting for this video library on Vudu. It is convenient, good quality, intuitive. Love the way you can click on actresses/actors and shows you all their movies they have in stock, and love the sorting. They give great deals weekly like $4.99 movies, 99 cent rentals, bundle packages... they also have some new movies where you can opt for the hard copy and the digital immediately! WE have done this, the movie comes from Wal-Mart I think... I would have given 4 stars, deducting 1 because customer service isn't too great, its ok, but mainly because you can't upgrade a standard version to a HD version. I had opted to upload a dvd and pay only $2 for standard version and wished I had went HD... They should have a button to upgrade any standard to HD if you change mind or come across more money. The upgrade would be $3. Instead, customer service said they would delete the movie and you had to go in and buy the HD full price after you had already paid the $2.
They have gotten better over years. Looks like they are here to stay.
Anyway... great movies, great weekly deals, great intuitive site.
After a year of BS over 1 movie and wasting TIME of time I have realized VUDU customer service SUCKS
My internet connection is fine! 175 mpbps download 12 mpbs, yet VUDU can't stream for more than 15 secs without buffering. I never have these issues with Netflix.
Don't ever buy a movie with Vudu. Absolutely terrible. Terrible is an understatement. It buffers more than it plays. Save yourself the money and the trouble and don't even bother opening Vudu it is absolutely useless. Trust me please don't use vudu
While you will have to pay for movies on Vudu, you don't have to sit through a mire of commercials, and advertisements. Not to mention, the mechanics of the site are a hell of a lot better than Crackle's. And, as of this year, Vudu has started streaming movies for free. And while their selection may not be great, like I said before, you don't have to sit through a mire of commercials, and advertisements.
I see alot of people on here complaining about VUDU! Yet I see this is not just VUDU that has the problems! I see the same problem watching my movies on, Fandango Now! And also on Movies Anywhere! You start to watch, and the next thing You know it stops! Then it is buffer hell, then it will either start backup, or it will slap an error message on screen! So this tells me is it really a VUDU thing? To tell You the truth, If I had to guess, and I would say my guess is right, it is a DRM thing! Digital rights management, that these sites use to stop people from stealing their content! I don't know if any of You uses HULU! But they have the same problems, only worse! If You all want less headaches, then just buy hard copy, DVD/Blu Ray! Then You won't have a problem with the movie playing! I find it funny that everyone has to keep up with the Jones! Everyone has to follow suite! I find it funny people will spend a ton of money on something they will never have in their hands, and sadly can't watch what they pay for? Gotta love it! Space age gone wrong! Another thing, we pay for internet, yet the Government sold us out to anyone who hands them money, to follow are every movement! On top of the Government spying on us an Goggle is the biggest peeping Tom there is, between all the spying, our movie streamers, laptops, smart TV's doesn't stand a chance in hell of working good for anyone! Just saying!
They suspended my account over their technical incompetent failures. They won't take responsibility for their errors. I even spoke to Sony Pictures as to why a code was refused. The said it was Vudu's fault. They said it was redeemed by then, but failed to add my movie. Vudu renounced it.
Who do you believe? Sony Pictures and my credit card?
Look, I'm seeing all these one-star reviews, and I realize experiences can differ greatly so maybe, generally speaking, they have some customer service issues, but all *I* know is I had the most amazing experience. I had signed up for an account, thinking I got the first 3 rentals at 99¢. This seemed to be confirmed when I got my first at that price. Next day, returned excited to get the sequel, but couldn't figure out how to get the price drop on the next movie. It was almost 8pm, so I figured their customer service was long closed, but decided to give them a ring. I got a real, living person with one button press in a phone tree and a total wait of less than 3 movies. Told my story to a great agent named Jared. He apologized but explained the deal had changed from three 99¢ movies on new accounts to only one. I was really bummed but accepted his apology, expecting that to be it. But then he said to give give him a minute, so I sat on hold a short while and he came back and said he put 3 dollar credit on my account! I was blown away and VERY excited--there's no way I could justify spending 4 dollars on a rented movie to my hubby, so it was very cool to have it that cheap!
Seriously, can't speak for anyone else but I was amazed by the customer service. Just saying. (I mean, plus great quality, easy subs, intuitive player on Xbox one app, very impressed)
$#*!ing bull$#*!, I like how I spend my own hard-earned cash to buy a movie and then make it so ridiculously hard to download that no one can $#*!ing do it. Why not just use Movies anywhere seriously? Just make things more difficult how about?
Hi--There are so many reasons why you should not buy or rent anything for Vudu, and many are listed in the previous reviews. I have found all those complaints to be true as well, but the main reason you should never buy or rent anything from Vudu is if something goes wrong-- and your email account becomes defunct or something else goes wrong with the original email account--you lose ALL of your purchased content because these idiots do not know how to allow you to change your email account associated with the account. Sure--they will email you on another working email account to waste your time and give you false hope about regaining access to your account--but they will only resend your password (that you did not ever forget) to the DEFUNCT email account even though you are currently discussing the problem on the good, working email account. UGH. No matter how many times you explain that you cannot use the original email account --they will keep sending you the password (that you already know) to the email account that no longer exists. It is, literally, pleading your case to the dumbest group of people in existence. So DO NOT USE VUDU! They suck!
One of the slowest websites I've visited. It takes so long for information to load, family movie night has become a gamble (and a major chore). Poor little kids just want to watch their move. Finally, when I called customer service to address a battery of other issues, they were very rude. Ugh!
Bought a few movies from this streaming service but can't stream them. Whether it's buffering or just won't play, it's pointless to even try. Don't bother contacting customer support. They won't respond to you and if they do, they invariably blame the problems on you (your device, your internet connection, your IP address associated with some dumb issue). There is no resolution and they don't care. Go through a different company and save your time and money.
I've used Vudu for several years and amassed a good collection. 3 months ago, the service wouldn't work on my Roku thinking I am out of the Country (I'm not). They say their firewall blocks my IP address because it has been associated with a VPN or Proxy Server (I have never used either). They take weeks to respond to a simple question and offer no help other than blame it on my ISP. This is a class action waiting to happen and I for one cannot wait. Buy your movies from Amazon, iTunes or Google Play.
My girlfriend got a free rental from Vudu for some reason, and that is the only positive thing I can say about it. The streaming quality was awful for "HDX" at 1080 which shouldn't even be called high definition at this point. The buffering was so bad that we eventually quit trying. Stopped to buffer every minute at the very longest. We even tried pausing it for a while and waiting to load but it kept doing the same thing. My internet isn't the problem since I can get a full Netflix show in 1080 in seconds. The other thing that pissed me off was the fact that they will ask you to reduce quality to reduce buffer time when you paid extra for "HD". Will never use this service again.
I cant believe this company is in business... streaming movies from them is HORRIBLE! I bought these movies so I deserve better... MUCH better
I purchased Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers to watch with my son for the first time. He was really excited. We wrestled with a horrible user interface and apparent incompatability with Linux using FF, Opera, Chrome, and others. Installed flash, plugins, etc. for a solid hour. Nothing. Then used an xbox to login via a browser. The movie would stop about every 10-minutes and we would have to restart, then at about the 1-hour mark it just stopped streaming and would never provide anything but an error. All other sites worked fine, just Vudu that was hosed. This is the WORST streaming experience I have ever had and will NEVER use this service again.
I love vudu I have almost 500 movies and I hardly ever have a problem. I get new releases generally a few weeks before on bluray and it's great I give it two thumbs up
After signing up with vudu, I started receiving dozens and dozens of junk email daily. I unsubscribe to each of them but they keep coming. If you value what little privacy you have with your email account, do not sign up with vudu as they apparently sell it to every hog, dog and frog there is!
Answer: I would just stay away from vudu altogether. They are the worst company I have ever interacted with. I spent a lot of money on videos with them and I cannot watch any of them because the just buffer literally every 5 seconds and then I downloaded them through vudu to go and they won't play on there either. I keep getting a message that vudu cannot authenticate my account. I e-mailed customer services 3 times and have never received a response. I have wasted about $1000. 00 on movies that I cannot watch. I have started using amazon prime video and other sites as well and have no problems whatsoever. Just stay away from vudu they are just taking your money.
Answer: I have had nothing but problems with vudu. My opinion is just stay away and use another company. They are the worst. You will waste your money.
