Do not use Vinhistoryusa! They are not a real company. It is an over seas scam that has been allowed to operate for far too long. If you use that website, you will not receive your reports, they will charge you $29.99 (even if you cancel in time), and they will not refund the money no matter what. The Global Informatics LLC doesn't exist, the BBB has no record of the company, and they give at least five different USA addresses none of them in San Francisco, while giving a San Francisco phone number which is if course no longer active. This is a criminal enterprise that has been allowed to operate under the guise of bad customer service. They figured they could get away will merely annoying Americans and not costing them too much, and for a great while this actually worked for them. However, they eventually ripped off enough people or the wrong people who actually investigated them, and now they are exposed. Do not use Vinhistoryusa they are an overseas criminal scam website!
So I did a Google Search for a free VIN History Check. VINHistoryUSA. Com advertises a free VIN report. When you go to their site they request $1 for the report. However a couple days later I found I was being charged $29.95 bi-weekly! For a subscription I did NOT sign up for. When contacting the company they said they do NOT do one-off reports and I subscribed to their service. No where on their site do they indicate you are subscribing. When I pointed out their advertisement on Google for a free VIN check they acted like they were unaware of that. Yet they are a Google sponsored provider. Still have not received any cancellation or refund confirmation.
After getting your credentials they create subsritpion for 29.95 USD monthly. I tried to refund my money, but I got only stupid answers in their emails. Bevare of them!
They automatically set you up on auto pay, and not make it known. When I saw a $60 charge from them on PayPal after two months, I was obviously being SCAMMED. They took it from my PayPal account and after complaining to PayPal about this, they did not help me get my money back. I am out $60. I tried to call VinHistoryUSA and got disconnected.
Paid $1 for the VIN history. Didn't get one. So, within my 7-day trial I submitted a request for cancelation. Then, after the 70-days, I got charged $29.95.
Still not canceled and still no refund.
NOT RECOMMENDED!
SCAM!
Advertising 1$ then immediately took 3 separate transactions out, then an atm credit. Chase advised me to cancel the card.
Site is an absolute scam. RUN AWAY.
The $1 report produced absolutely nothing. Then, canceling the subscription is absolutely impossible. If you call, they tell you to ask the chat bot. If you chat, they tell you to email. In the email they send you to a link that doesn't work.
SCAM. SCAM. SCAM.
So much for immediate and hassle free cancelation policy that they advertise on the site. The information I received on the one report I needed wasn't even accurate. I have been trying to cancel for an hour. I keep getting the run around. I was sent to an email from the chat, then sent to call a number that just keeps cutting me off.
I paid for the $1 report, which only gave the same info I received from the national site. I tried canceling via email the same day as well as with chat bot on website. Gave # to call. I responded I didn't have time to call. Website states you can cancel via those methods as well as calling. 7th day, I had a charge for $29.95. I emailed again, said call the number. I did, canceled and immediately disconnected. I called back to talk about refund, cause I already canceled 7 days prior. No answers. I left msg. Tried email but no response. Used chat bot on site and said to wait 24 hrs for them to investigate refund. This site is a total rip off. Lack of info in reports and charging after cancelation.
After being tagged with the ridiculously sneaky $29.95 (US) subscription fee per month, I realized something was completely off. After asking THREE times to cancel it, each of which time I was assured it would be, I finally had to lock my entire credit card and file an inquiry with my bank. Every time through their company Live chat I asked what was going on, and if there was any further information I could provide to help with the refund. They would brush it off and say that they'd "elevated" the ticket to the highest priority, and then offer nothing in follow up.
I'm so sick of this. We'd looked into it after seeing some $#*! jacking off in front of a childrens playground, and they offered none of the information they promised.
I hope they get unearthed for the sketchy company they are.
These people are pure scum, without suspecting any harm, walked through that 1$report to get charged 29.95 after that, i first foolishly authorized the 1$ transaction which allowed them to charge me the 29
They say its only $1 and then $29 when subscription starts. As soon as you purchase $1 report they try to charge a $29 subscription right away. Thankfully I used a burner card and it declined it so it did not get through. It doesn't even show you all information, you have to pay more to unlock everything else. And it shows pictures of the same make and model car from google images, not your actual car.
These people are total pieces of work. They pull the bait and switch. They tell you it's going to be a dollar for the report and then after you purchase it it purchases it for a dollar and then 5 seconds later your credit card gets another transaction for $29.95 that they hope you don't notice and they cover their asses by putting a instant refund hotline automated call on their website. If you notice you get your money back. If somebody like my grandma got on this site she would be charged $29.95 every 2 weeks for the rest of her life.
This was referred to me via a google search for Carfax. This $1 search, which turns out to be a $30 trial, which isn't clear until after, came up with literally no information about the vehicle other than what I had already gave them.
Information is minimal, and they immediately charge you 29.95 for a membership service. This 29.95 is not mentioned on the website, just the 1.00 single carfax review. Should have checked out these reviews before using. STAY AWAY
Read site about $1 vin report. Ordered one (1) report that didn't tell me much more than the free vin reports. Was charged $1.00. THEN was charged $29.95. Contacted customer service through Live Chat, was told I had signed up for "biweekly service". I said I did NOT. No credit received, NEVER went to their website again, and today I received a NEW charge for $4.95. Asked about that today. Received the same canned response about "we don't offer one-off reports". Told I will receive a refund if my "account is eligible". (?) Scam site! AVOID!
This company is a total scam. Here's why.
1. False advertising. They advertise one report for only $1.00 then charge you an additional $24.95
2. They advertise immediate refund no questions asked.
3. Their phone number is DISCONNECTED.
4. There is no live person to talk to.
5. The charge shows up on your card as being from TRACKTHEGENE.COM. A different website.
Everyone employed at this company is a crook.
They charge your account three times (photo attached). One for $29.95. One for $1. Another one for $1. They immediately sent a text and email claiming to be from my bank flagging the transactions as fraud. The email clearly didn't come from my bank (photo attached). Neither did the texts (photos attached). When I called the number in the text, it was some guy speaking with an Asian accent, which is what tipped me off that it was a scam. To be safe, I transfered all of my money to a different account and will now have to change my credit card numbers.
They collect the information very well, showed it with cheap promotion.
I searched two cars, first one via plate number and the second other one via vin.
Vin research worked pretty well.
But plate number, as soon as I paid for the membership right after I search the first car and saw that the report is ready. There was nothing.
Even if they sent another link that I can get the free record. I still doubt that was the best they could.
Overall the process to get information on the vehicle I was looking for was simple. It was a little slow moving but that could of been my internet or processing the information on the car itself.
I was expecting more information like in regard to maintenance history like with carfax but for the trial price it's not bad. I know it will help many people over all especially in a world where cars are stolen and we might need to do a quick check to see one way or another.
