Verbling has cancelled my unscheduled lessons with my teacher without any prior intimation to me. To reactivate the hours I paid for, I need to get verbling support to do it for me. I've been following up with them but they haven't gotten back to me even after 5 days.My ticket number is #*******. This is heights of complacency and mismanagement at verbling.

My teacher is amazing. I've been with her for over 6 months. However, I just purchased a 20 course package and realized that verbling is tacking on an 8% fee. Supposedly this is for platform use but I don't get it. Why not wrap this fee into the normal overall fee? It's not like all the rest of the payment goes to the teacher.

I was the user who had the unreliable tutor Giulia but Verbling subsequently responded to my complaint the following week and fixed the situation properly. Giulia is no longer on Verbling and since then I have worked with two very good tutors.

I am writing this new 5 star review to balance out the 1 star review I previously wrote in despair. In fairness, after using Verbling for two months, I now would highly recommend Verbling for language tutoring.

I am so sorry that Giulia missed your lesson! When such an unfortunate event occurs, there are two ways to reach a solution: reporting an issue with your lesson and/or reaching out to Verbling Support. Reporting an issue sends a notification to your teacher, enabling them to either unschedule your lesson so you can schedule it once again, or issue you an immediate refund in Verbling credit. And, if you click on the blue question mark button in the bottom of your Verbling screen, you can contact Verbling Support for prompt assistance handling the problem. I am glad our Verbling Support team was able to resolve your particular problem by responding to your support email and issuing you a refund in Verbling credit. I have been teaching on Verbling for 18 months now and it has been one of the most rewarding experience for me. My students come from all over the world and are incredible people.

What sets Verbling so much higher than other platforms is the support you get from the administrators. They respond to any issues quite quickly and the tone is always so friendly.

I am so lucky I found Verbling.

Verbling will destroy rosetta stone. Nothing beats learning language from a real tutor rather than learning from some lame series of CDs that cost you over $500. I am just starting the process of hiring a tutor and for $19 a month it really cannot be beat. I would much rather learn from a real person than from a CD. This will revolutionize the entire language industry and I hope to master chinese and japanese in a couple years.

I paid for a lesson where the teacher cancelled. When I went to use my credit there was a new minimum of 5 lessons so I couldn't use my credit without spending more money. I didn't want to spend more money because the two teachers I used were constantly cancelling the day of the lesson I work and there is a time difference so it was hard to match times and do the lessons. I don't want to be forced to buy a pack of 5 lessons until I know if I like the teacher. I did a half hour lesson and then tried to book an hour lesson but I couldn't because now I had to book a pack of 5. I wrote to customer service and they were useless. The platform is very marginal it could be so much better and more robust. You are definitely better off just doing a class with you tube or some other type of online class. The customer service sucks and some of the teachers are completely unreliable.

I've used their platform, which works well. But on one lesson, the instructor cancelled the same day with no explanation. I tried again with the same instructor and she cancelled an hour before, again with no explanation. Meanwhile, I've been trying to get through to their support with this complaint, and there is no response.

Bate and Switch

There are a lot of businesses that con people out of their money and Verbling is one of them. I am interested in learning European Portuguese, not Brazilian Portuguese. I took a free half hour class with a lovely woman who was their "featured" instructor. I had challenges logging on with my phone the app, but eventually got through on my computer. So, I had a 15 minute free lesson. Like I said, she was great. I paid for 10 classes and when I tried to schedule my classes with her I learned she only had two free time slots over the next two weeks at 3 AM. I communicated with her by text thru the site about the problem I was having signing up and she seemed surprised by her schedule. Really? You don't know your schedule? Then I learned that money paid for classes is non-refundable. They have very few other European Portuguese instructors and the ones they have charge significantly more. I tried calling the offices in San Francisco and their phone number isn't set up to receive messages. I have emailed them about requesting a refund. No response. I filed a dispute with Paypal. Am hoping that gets me my money back. But I doubt it. What a drag. Bate and Switch. Also known as fraud.

NOT the fastest support!

I have been with Verbling scince 2016 and cannot fault the platform from a tutors point of view, so much so that I have chosen to work exclusively with Verbling and not aquire further students via other platforms as is common practice.

However...

The support has been good previously, BUT I am writing this review as a very unhappy client of their support services which up to this point right now have been for all intense purposes non-existent.
No way to contact them other than the chat function - where you are curtly told to use the email address.
The email address returns an automated response, and now... still waiting! (over a week)

A financial service provider who is used by us has also expressed dismay at not being able to get a response and their business is significantly larger than mine with Verbling.

I do not normally write reviews and usually they are of the positive kind, unfortunately it seems the support services which have been praised on this site are in my case no where to be found.

Whats going on? This is supposed to be a cutting edge tech startup!?!

I've had a relatively poor experience with Verbling after about 6 months.

The teachers sign up as many students as they can and give scant attention to time spent between classes. Don't expect prompt email responses to your questions between classes.

The first teacher had no lesson plans and appeared to be completely unprepared for the lessons. I was able to cancel all of my remaining lessons with the first teacher and move the credits over to to my second teacher. The process of cancellation and reschedule was OK.

Unfortunately, when you use the cancellation system you are charged once again fees to sign up with another teacher. I would only sign up for one or two classes at a time at first.

Make sure you are prepared to take control of your education on Verbling. Communicate with your teacher. Layout your expectations. At the first sign of "laziness" on the teachers part (i. E., lack of preparation, unreturned messages, no lesson planning, poor materials, etc...) cancel your remaining lessons. Although you can't get a refund, you can use the credits for another teacher.

Regarding the technology, probably the most important thing is internet speeds on both ends, both upload and download speeds. Otherwise, it will be a frustrating experience - frozen screens, voice lentency issues, etc.

I have booked lessons o this website, but they get my money and the teacher did not give me the lessons. They stole my money and no body of this SUPPORT TEAM of that VERBLING responded me. Be careful of this website.

Don't use scams
November 21, 2021

I have a tutor that was so flaky she would cancel or reschedule the last minute she would show up late and not give me extra time I paid for a month she seemed good the first but she was always canceling and reschedule she did this constantly and she was asking me to many personal questions verblng is after your money I had a very young tutor previously he was kind of boring I thought this tutor would be better because she was older but she was a real flake I am satisfied with ver long plus it kept freezing on me I kept on losing connection I joined another app and I'm much happier very disappointed in verblong
