They lock my dad's card for any reason. Then we have to call every time and its insane. Whyy? These are mostly elderly people
The worst company I have EVER dealt with. They let me direct ship my new pay card for my disability benefits to a PO BOX which couldn't be delivered express because it's a PO Box. Then because UPS held the card they put a security hold on my account. They told me I had to fax two forms of ID to them to prove my identity, so I did. After waiting the 48 hours they tell me it's not accepted because the photo is too dark... it's a fax! So I get them to give me and email to send it to, wait the allotted time and call back. They said everything is clear and they will two day ship my card and I will get tracking on my phone. I don't get tracking so I call on the day it's supposed to arrive and they tell me "it was never sent". Mind you, there is a freaking hurricane coming and I have no money, I have been dealing with these people for weeks. So I have them send a new card but they tell me that they can't send it any faster because UPS doesn't deliver on the weekend, what a blatant lie! To top it, when I get home that day the card that "was never sent" had arrived. I call the next morning to see if they can activate the card that "was never sent" and they told me no because that card was sent in error because I used to receive two different benefit checks and so they had to send the new one with my full benefits on it. This company is a load of BULL. I have not received two separate benefit checks in over five years and rather than admit to their mistakes they make up lies and try to insist that you are wrong. I will be stranded with no money food or supplies for this hurricane because of this company's inability to function properly. Not to mention their phone lines says that they're busy every time you call and doesn't allow you to stay in que it simply hangs up on you. I have to call ATLEAST 20 times every time to get put in the que to hold and hour to speak to someone.

I've been a direct express customer for over 10 years and never had any issues until the last 2 years. Back in 2022, I noticed fraudulent activity on my account and contacted DE and was able to get a refund and a new card. From January 2023 to October 2023, I noticed I had numerous fraudulent charges from Amazon, door dash and lyft on my account. It total to around $1042.00. Contacted DE to dispute my charges and received only $742.00 refunded back to the card. They also reissued me another card. December 2023, I haven't had the card a month before more fraudulent activity from Amazon was on my account, so I lock the card for the remaining balance and notified DE again to dispute the charges. So I was fixing to go to Walmart to take the remaining money off the card and noticed my account was -$598.00. I called DE again at the same time receiving 2 letters from the fraud department stating my claim was approved for $138.00 and another letter stating I was denied my claim and they closed the case. I contacted them after waiting a 1hr and 25 mins, transfer 3 times but the 3rd time they hung up on me. I called a 2nd time 2 transfers and was told this time that a merchant showed proof of the fraudulent transaction so I ask what merchant they couldn't give me that information and that I have to wait a total of 120 days after the investigation in which I already waited 45 days. Told me to call back on February 4,2024 to get answers on the investigation. It's sad social security office won't help assisting or addressing this matter. My child social security benefits has been stolen from this bank institution and I suggest a class action lawsuit against this bank. I can be reached at *******@yahoo.com. Last month, the money I have been receiving from Social Security since 2020 did not appear in my account. I was told by a few representatives on the phone from Direct Express that Social Security never sent out the money. I went to the Social Security Office in Allentown,PA and was told that Direct Express received the money and placed it in a different account that Im not familiar with. I called Direct Express after I left the Social Security Office and was told that someone closed the account that I have been using without my permission and blamed Social Security for not sending the money to the right account. I went back to the Social Security Office and was told that Direct Express made the mistakes of allowing my account to be closed without giving me a notice and directing the money elsewhere. I don't know whether the money is still in the custody of Direct Express and someone is refusing to release it or whether someone hacked my account and closed it to get the benefits. This issue was resolved days later. My money went missing once again. Social Security sent out SSI Payments to individuals on March 31st and my payment did not appear in my Direct Express Account. I called Direct Express Customer Service multiple times and was told the money went to the wrong debit card. I was told the issue would be resolved within 3-5 hours and so far nothing changed. I had a supervisor from Direct Express cancel out the debit card that had the money on it and attempt to transfer the money to the debit card I have right now. He said it will return to the debit card I have within 24 hours and as of right now I still did not receive it. This is the second time in one month that Direct Express has mishandled my money.
I ordered a replacement card 3 weeks ago and i still haven't received it so finally get a hold of somebody on the phone after like 300 trys so I tell them I have to order a new replacement card cuz i didn't get the first one I ordered but this time i paid more to get it expedited to me cuz I need my card ta use my money they tell me your get it in 2 days right here it is 6 days later still have not gotten it an still can't get a real human on the God dame phone DO NOT use Direct Express they are awful this sucks i can't get any of my money there should be another way to access your money this is bul$#*! one's I get my replacement card whenever that will be I'm taking all my $#*!in money out and putting it into a bank account $#*! I've used Direct Express since they came out, over 1.5 decades. Until the last two months, I've never had issues with them. They are now blocking every other electronic and in-person charge. Even when I call and verify, it's me making these charges, I've been making them for years, you can see this, they still claim they cannot "unlock" anything and that their boneheaded AI is doing temporary blocks automatically. Well, that's nice, I guess I won't be able to pay my bills and debts then? Lol Switch now before it's too late.
Direct Express illegally allowed a 3rd party Rob me of my whole Disability check. DX made no attempt to protect my " Monitored Account"or send me any notification at all. That was mon. Night in 3 hours they watched them take my check without attempting to investigate! The end result they blocked me out of my account. Customer service refused to pull up my account information then ended the call. What would you do? It's Friday the 4th and still haven't seen a dime of my check!
Answer: Absolutely not! The system is automated if you can meet your need via that system you will be good to go. If you need to speak to a human it could takes hours and days. I've been calling for 4 days. Every hour 2 - 20 calls an hour. I receive the message they have a high call volume, they tell me to try again later and then they disconnect they call. Their practices are abusive.
