Elance closed my account for no reason First, they contacted me saying my account doesn't contain original content... without explaining what that means. I've had the same account for 3 years. All 4.9-5 star reviews. And after a week they notified me that my account is closed because the clients were not satisfied with my work... I asked to tell me who are those clients and why they didn't leave a bad review so I can respond, to which they replied they are not allowed to give me that kind of information and that is their final decision.
I just started using Upwork. It is great for stay at home work. It's super easy to navigate through and understand. All of the clients I have worked for have been wonderful. I would highly recommend for anyone looking to do extra side work from home!
Upwork making Skilled professionals more skillful and also helping to make some extra buck by helping needy clients. Its the best thing happened to me so far. Its really easy to apply for opportunities, completing the contracts and getting payments. Good Job Upwork.
Be aware that upwork does not check the profiles and stated resumes of freelancers very well. If you think you are hiring someone from the USA or the UK well you might just be in for a surprise when the work turns out to be terrible, then you get into the dispute process which is complete joke.
I'm only a 3rd year college student with basic skills in graphic design with no earnings for myself. On the fourth quarter of this year, Upwork came in to my life and game me opportunities for both learning & earning. I love how Upwork protects both clients & freelancers
Upwork customer service is the best! I spoke with Keila yesterday to verify my identity and she patiently waited for me to fix my speakers because I can't hear her. Big thumbs up for their patient reps!
I started to work on the Upwork 4 years ago and I'm very satisfied. 95% of clients are great. A lot of jobs posted every day for all types of skills. Upwork has a great support team available 24h for all freelancers and they are willing to help about anything. What I like the most is that I feel very secure working on Upwork. When I summarize all, Upwork is really the best platform!
I had been working on other freelancing platforms and then I came to know about upwork. I made an account, started bidding, and my experience on upwork is great. I will recommend Upwork to everyone who want to work professionally. It is a great platform where you can find professional agencies, freelancers and recruiters.
5 stars
I wanted a web designer that could DESIGN my website. Not only was his work very basic and almost child like but trying to explain to him what I wanted was extremely frustrating due to the language barrier. There was an urgency to get it done and a that will do' type of attitude. Extremely frustrating!
I used to love Upwork for my outsourcing. I referred people to it as the best freelancer marketplace. I've used it regularly for 6 years. The candidates were always higher quality than other sites.
Now that they've changed their pricing model, most applicants either decline my job so they don't have to pay for a connection, and the ones that came through are lower quality than they've ever been... maybe because the smart ones are leaving.
Also, they have an upgrade of $30 to have a talent specialist help with your job. But they limit who you can invite unless you do the upgrade. So either I have to buy the upgrade, or I'm limited to inviting 3 people which is useless. And all this specialist does is click "invite" to more people. I could've done that... it's not helpful.
I'm pretty bummed I have to find a new spot to outsource.
Don't waste your time with this. I had 2 "pros" accept my project. The last guy quit. Said it was to hard and had other jobs coming in. I'm very disappointed in eLance. Both said they could knock it out in a few days. The first guy was working on everything I had asked him not to mess with. The second guy kept wanting more money. Then he quit... I've wasted a month with those guys.
This has to be the worst experience I have ever had with a company. I made a profile and I was it was suspended the next day. I called and ask why, they did not have an answer to my question. I've also heard stuff about this company from other people. Should of listened to them..
Upwork is a fantastic platform for clients to meet freelancers, it has a good user interface and it makes interacting with clients easy, although it would be great if upwork updated their conversion rate for dollar to other currencies, as freelancers (myself) lose money when we convert to other currencies on the platform, but overall it is a great freelancing site if not the best I have used so far
I've been working for many years in different companies, which made me realize that there was always limited numbers of clients you get to do business with, since you'r not the boss of your work and its results. Upwork gave me the oppurtunity to work with people from all over the world, letting me decide who I'm willing to work with, which gives far more better results than earlier.
I don't trust this company anymore, they forfeited my 1 month salary due to their suspecting me of using auto clicker which is not true and they won't like to hear my explanation even It appears only 30 mins in my log time but they hold and forfeited all my earnings in the past weeks even It is out in the issue. This company is not trust worthy. You are not safe here
I was freelancing for 7 years and was so happy with elance, and then I was forced to start with upwork...
Horrible site, almost no decent jobs to apply, full of bugs etc... I got a feeling that all good employers simply disappeared from the cloud.
Don't use it. Let it die.
Upwork has connected me with many great clients over my 1.5 years with them. I have recommended Upwork to both family and friends. Everything is not perfect with Upwork, but what in life really is perfect. I look forward to continue growing my contacts and business with Upwork
Brilliant, supportive, helpful. Got most of my work from here and they can't help you enough! Problem with recommendations is that it would be less work for me in the future lol
But don't mind healthy competition, just can't stand it when you are bidding against people that work for $2 ph. But elance don't let that happen!
No notice of where the money will go after closing the account.
This kind of fraud should be told before closing the account.
Normally websites asks 2-3 times before they close the account, they even send email. But these guys knows how to steal money from accounts using IRS scam emails.
Today I woke up to find an email stating that my account was permanently banned because I have "asked to be paid or been paid " outside of upwork, which I clearly didn't do. I sent them a screen shot as evidence and the reply was still the same nasty accusation. No warning, no verifying, no consulting, just like that. Not the mention the 20% service fee I paid, upwork is the greediest and the nastiest freelance site there is.
Answer: They are horrible. Every freelancer I've gotten from Upwork has cost me more to fix the small job they have done. There's absolutely no customer service! I would stay away
Answer: This is not the place to inquire.
Answer: No, just 20% of your job when we talk about fixed price, and same for hourly but after some week it's been 10%
Answer: Go to Settings › Contact Info › Click the Close my account link. If you meet the requirements, click the button to confirm that you want to close your account.
Answer: I am a customer and have had a really horrible experience. Upwork claims a 100% guarantee before you pay anything. That is not true. The process is actually quite horrible. You put money in escrow. You only get your money back after a bad contract if the freelancer agrees to release the money. If the freelancer refuses, you get a bargain offer to still pay them something but still you are paying for a bad job you can't use. Then, if you refuse to bargain over a bad job, you are told that it will cost you an additional $389 to arbitrate with a 3rd party affiliate that the customer (me), the freelancer (scammer) and Upwork (ripoff enabler) has to pay. I took it all the way to arbitration with the end result being that Upwork decided that I was just too uninformed to know their policy and that they would give me a one time only refund of my original amount. What they didn't tell me what that they just gave me a "credit" of my original amount and that was the end. So I am still out the original amount and can't get my money back. This sight is a ripoff. Plain and simple.
Answer: Because of their policy changes which are geared towards the client rather than the freelancer. They have dug their own grave with their policy changes of late.
Answer: Go to Get Paid on PC or Mobile, you will see 3 dots in front of your payment method, tap to select edit/remove to change them. Go to Billing Method on PC under Billing Section and tap three dots to change (edit/remove). Thanks
Answer: Be part and see, dont look at the sold mine reviews people, upwork can bush you to reach.
Answer: I agree with Sam. This place is a scam. They have bad reviews everywhere. Katrina is probably working for them!
Upwork has a rating of 2.3 stars from 2,123 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Upwork most frequently mention customer service, credit card and job success. Upwork ranks 7th among Freelancing sites.
