I was trying to register as a free lancer after there site being down for hours threw out the days and figured it was safe. After doing everything I get "Planned Maintenance In Progress".
Maybe they should hire a better tech for there servers since they are always offline.
Upwork has helped me take more control of my career by enabling me to connect with clients from all around the world and giving me the chance to prove my competence through their Job Success Score algorithm.
It's not perfect and paying for connects is kind of annoying, but the benefits of the platform greatly outnumber the negatives. It's really hard to judge Upwork if you've never used it. Freelancers who find success on Upwork, love it. Upwork is just a tool, and I'm grateful for it.
I started my journey a few months back with the least expectation of earning from Upwork like playing gambling. A few months later it turned out to be an important indicator of my life and a reliable source of my income.
I had a wonderful experience and had some great clients with awesome projects. With my hard work, it not only started paying off but also inspiring me more and more. Now I am much more confident on myself for handling much bigger projects and leading teams.

It has a very user friendly website and app. The customer support is very helpful, responsive, and understanding. The community is also great. It's very informative and helpful when you have questions. I haven't encountered any rude clients and so far they are all nice people.

This is the worst site ever. Any freelancer I've hired from there has ruined things on my site and has cost me double to have their work fixed. Anybody can sign up and say they have experience. To prove it I signed up as a SEO specialist (I have zero experience) I was given rising talent status by upwork for completing a couple things on my profile. Stay away!
Upwork changed my life, literally. The professionalism in how they manage contracts between the two sides is top class. You feel 100% safe before starting any contract and the other side as well. Upwork makes you feel safe and secure about getting the job done without hassles. I only concentrate on my work other than anything else, which is why Upwork is considered as a perk for me! Upwork has worst support system ever.
THREE MONTHS! Have passed since my application.
There is no solution to the problem with my profile.
I write more and more new messages to my ticket, but I only get "the issue was transferred to our Technical team."
I have worked with Upwork for 7 years now and have a great reputation, but now I am not getting new orders at all because my profile is not working.
Be careful when working with this company. You may one day get similar problems with tech support.
I need help in getting back my Upwork account. It has been suspended today without any official email or any notification. I can still reach out to existing clients but can't apply for proposals. Upwork has an excellent community and way of giving people job based on how active they are on platform. They wont put too much work on your plate. Con is they are charging 20% fee on the first time client that hurts freelancer a lot
As a freelancer on the Upwork platform, I've had just about the most unprofessional experience in freelancing ever...
Their support sucks... to put it easy. Unless your a client or a top earning freelancer -- Upwork doesn't care about you.
Upwork has a really shabby support team that is dis-interested in your problems... They don't offer a phone number, or even basic live chat to help sort out your problems... Instead they have a ticket system which takes them 2 days to respond to. If you're looking to resolve a problem via their support, expect to wait a minimum of a week to get anything sorted out
Upwork expects to take 20% of your earnings for some unknown reason... it's definitely not for their support team... they claim it's for payment protection or what not, but I have not experienced this so called "payment protection"
If you're looking to freelance on some platform, give Upwork a pass.
I've started working on Upwork a few months ago and it has changed the perspective on freelancing. Upwork did a tremendous job for me in finding the right clients for my skills. I wish they continue their journey like this and keep changing people's lives.
UpWork has been fantastic to me. It has put me in contact with multiple brands and clients who have both enhanced my portfolio while I help them bring their business visions to life. They ensure that I get paid - which is pretty hard these days - and they hold me to a standard so make sure I am producing the work I am being paid to do. The fees are there, but the profit makes up for it. It is better than working freelance and not sure if the client is going to pay. I recommend it to everyone I know. 10/10.

Upwork is very easy-to-navigate platform for freelancers like me to get jobs, good value and guarantee of payment. It has a robust and efficient voice and chat tools too! Effectively, there is nothing lacking for a freelancer searching for an audience (that would otherwise be hard to reach) to put professional skills to profitable use.
It's good for freelancers and very easy to use this platform. They constantly keep you updated. Everything is fine except for the following two
1: You need connects to bid. And there is no guarantee you get a project. To apply for more jobs, there could be purchasing but they should give at least 30 connects free per month. For new freelancers, it is discouraging.
2:20% charges are too high. Should be 5%.
I have been using Upwork for a few years now. Because of some personal reasons I had to leave my work and stay at home. Upwork made starting to work as a freelancer so much easier for me. The whole process of getting work, delivering it and getting paid is facilitated and protected. When I am working on Upwork I know for sure that I will get my payment. I feel if you work hard persistently on Upwork, then you can earn a decent amount from your home. A perfect solution for me.

Answer: I am a customer and have had a really horrible experience. Upwork claims a 100% guarantee before you pay anything. That is not true. The process is actually quite horrible. You put money in escrow. You only get your money back after a bad contract if the freelancer agrees to release the money. If the freelancer refuses, you get a bargain offer to still pay them something but still you are paying for a bad job you can't use. Then, if you refuse to bargain over a bad job, you are told that it will cost you an additional $389 to arbitrate with a 3rd party affiliate that the customer (me), the freelancer (scammer) and Upwork (ripoff enabler) has to pay. I took it all the way to arbitration with the end result being that Upwork decided that I was just too uninformed to know their policy and that they would give me a one time only refund of my original amount. What they didn't tell me what that they just gave me a "credit" of my original amount and that was the end. So I am still out the original amount and can't get my money back. This sight is a ripoff. Plain and simple.
