‘Unfinished' Ltd
December 22, 2021

I've never felt the need to write a review before but having used Unfitted, I felt I needed to express my total dissatisfaction and disappointment.
I saved up for my perfect kitchen for 10 years, chose to use a small independent local company as I thought I'd get good service but I couldn't have been more wrong.
It started out fine, but when it came to the work tops I was told that the wider work tops I'd paid for were on 3 to 4 week delivery so they were going to use standard size and infill - I wouldn't notice a difference apparently…you tell me if you can see the difference (pics attached). When I complained I was told that wood was a natural product and I had to accept colour differences. And this from the MD. No attempt at trying to make their ‘valued' customer happy with her kitchen!
So my kitchen was half finished - they were going to come back to finish putting doors on and correct a mistake they'd made with a wall cupboard over the electrical box. I waited and waited - made contact with contractors directly and got fobbed off, so emailed the MD, Mark Shurey, and had no response whatsoever. Nada. Nothing.
I realised at this point why they ask for 90% of the cash up front. Once they have this (much like car salesmen) they don't give the proverbial.
So 3 months on I asked them to drop off all the materials I had paid for as I had found someone else to complete my dream kitchen.
Without a single word from the MD in apology or explanation, they did. I'm guessing I won't hear from them again.
Please be careful if you're thinking of using this company. I'd not repeat the experience given my time over.

Our kitchen from Unfitted, which has just been completed, is beautiful. It has totally transformed our home, and has been given a unanimous wow from everyone who has seen it so far.

We found Unfitted on the Internet and requested a brochure. We then arranged an appointment with Mark. He came down to see us in Brighton, and listened very carefully to our strong vision whilst giving us some good advice. He drew up a plan and liking what we saw, we then went to visit the showroom where we could examine the look and feel of the units.

Mark was very thorough and gave us a great deal of time and attention on that visit and the subsequent couple he made to our home in Brighton.

Patsy too, was so helpful. We spent several phone calls discussing colour, flooring, lighting and wallpaper. She was enthusiastic, interested and very generous with her time.

The fitters were exceptional really taking care and paying attention to every detail. Our kitchen walls are very uneven but they fitted everything with such precision taking off in some cases just mm to get a perfect fit. They were tidy, seem to hoover as they went along and took all rubbish away. It was a completely positive, exciting and happy experience.

To us, Unfitted is a company that prides itself in creating beautiful, crafted kitchens that are good value for money. We feel we have bought something special, and were delighted with the personal service from Mark and Patsy.

My husband and I were really impressed with the job from start to finish. Unfitted did everything it said it would and on time.

We would highly recommend this company, which above all, really cared about creating something marvellous for our family.

Thank you Unfitted. We are absolutely delighted, and may never eat out again!

In the case of unfitted it is safe to say that the high price tag does not equate to great service or good quality. I There was a problem with the design and measurements causing 1 cupboard to only partially open and the door getting scratched because it opens onto the oven door (see photos). I mentioned this right away when the kitchen was fitted but the company did not take any responability and said it should fit because Mark came and took measurements in person. But you can see from the photos that it obviosuly doesnt fit!

We have had the kitchen installed 6 months and the cabinets looks years old with chips all over the place you can see we still do not have skirting/plinth because Unfitted were unwilling to supply skirting tall enough for our kitchen (the whole kitchen units needed to be fitted higher because our beco dishwasher was taller than the unfitted units would allow for.)

My advice would be to not waste your money with this company. We gave huge regrets. We took on a full house resortation and using unfitted kitchens has been the only negative experience so far.

Having researched bespoke kitchen suppliers and wishing to support a local business, I contracted Unfitted to design and fit my new kicthen. My initial experience with Richard was really positive and I felt confident and excited about the project. What I am left with is a kitchen which reflects decisions made by Unfitted without any consultation with me, a lazy finish to the units, and a paint-splattered floor. I have spent several months trying to resolve this privately and fairly with Unfitted, to no avail. I'd advise against using this company whose delivery does not match the promise, and where total lack of communication on their part has left me with a kitchen I am less than pleased with.

They changed part of our order without telling us, then didn't make the changes that we asked for then told us that there was nothing they were willing to do to rectify their mistake. Communication seems to be a big problem, make sure you check the paperwork very thoroughly. I had mistakenly assumed that because i had communicated something to the owner/designer then it would be taken on board

Unfitted fits the bill.
September 10, 2018

After spending several weeks searching for a kitchen company to design the kitchen that we wanted and not one they thought we should have, we discovered Unfitted.com's website. A quick phone call to the office soon established that we had come to the right place as Richard listened to us and encouraged us to take a step by step approach to designing the kitchen with the look and feel we wanted to complete our new build. A visit to the showroom proved invaluable as we were able to see touch and feel the available options as well as have a face to face with Richard.
Our new kitchen along with additional custom made cupboard doors arrived a few weeks later and was installed by our builder with a few little glitches which are to be expected.
There was one big problem in that a Tall Larder Unit had been made to the wrong design which turned out to be an anomaly introduced by Unfitted's computer software which had previously acted up during the design stage. Once we had established the error, Richard and Mark did the right thing and re-made the unit to the correct spec. This is the mark of a good organisation as it is easy to be agreeable when things are going well but the true mark of a company's culture is what happens when things go wrong.

An attraction of the Unfitted approach is that we have been able to buy most of the units we want, install them and then see how things pan out prior to ordering what we require to give us a complete kitchen. This philosophy falls in line with the way we wished to progress our project and means that we will revisit Unfitted in the next few months to order more items to complement what we have installed already and complete our project.

Five star kitchen
August 3, 2018

We are so delighted with our kitchen from Unfitted. We took a bit of a risk arranging everything remotely (as we were living overseas) but everything went really smoothly and we are very happy with the finished product.

We shared our ideas with Richard the designer over email and he put together a perfect plan after just a couple of tweaks. Unfitted were always extremely responsive and helpful with our questions. The office and kitchen fitters worked well with the team building our new kitchen to ensure that everything fit perfectly. The units have all been made to a really high standard and completely met our expectations. We are really happy now to have our dream kitchen and sincerely recommend them.

A big thank you to the team at Unfitted who have helped create a truly stunning kitchen, which makes me smile every morning and gets a wow from everyone who sees it.

I knew exactly what I wanted. I had perfected my design over a 12-year period and produced scale drawings, I just had to find a company that could make it a reality. All the kitchen companies I visited eagerly quoted to supply my design, but each required differing degrees of compromise. Unfitted was different I could have the exact dimensions I required, in the exact paint colour I desired, with my choice of cabinet detailing, configuration and interior and with worktops, handles, taps and a sink that elevated the design. Making contact with Unfitted was the beginning of a collaborative journey - my design unexpectedly evolved, inspired by a statement piece in the showroom and influenced by Mark, the only kitchen designer to actually offer design ideas. Mark also encouraged me to really think about where I would store every item and how the kitchen would function. All of which provided me with a truly bespoke kitchen, which is both aesthetically beautiful and incredibly practical. My kitchen really works!

This was not a quick process. Ordering a bespoke kitchen is not an everyday event, so there were many discussions and design revisions before the contract was signed. An agreed programme of staggered cabinet production followed, enabling final cabinet measurements to be confirmed as each area of the new kitchen (three rooms into one) was completed. Though it took longer than expected for my builders to prepare the new kitchen shell, Unfitted absorbed these delays without complaint.

I opted to have Unfitted supply most of the appliances, which meant that my entire kitchen turned up in one vehicle. I also opted to have Unfitted complete the installation. In addition to taking charge of the kitchen delivery, their fitters understand the product and how to make it work in the space. They also have easy relationships with Unfitteds workshops and suppliers. I did however have my own plumber and electrician on standby they know my house and plumbing/electrics are best left to specialists.

With such a major undertaking, I expected problems, we encountered a few, but we overcame them with good humour and a collaborative mindset. Communication was good throughout and if I ever need another kitchen, I can honestly say that Ill be headed in the direction of Unfitteds very tempting showroom.

Everything we wanted was incorporated into the design, perfect colour matching and styles (Mark revisited us twice to make sure that the colours we had initially selected were going to match the rest of the house after I had a nervous moment.
Everyone has been very helpful.

We were completely clueless when we embarked on a major renovation of our kitchen. We had very little in the way of ideas to make the rather awkward space work for our family and were more than a little apprehensive about the disruption and costs involved.

We had several companies out to do surveys, Unfitted came highly recommended and now we can see why. It was a no-brainer that we would choose them to carry out the work.

The surveyor that came to see us was incredibly professional and knowledgable. We were instantly put at ease. We felt really included throughout the entire design process and despite the difficulties with the space we had to work with the design we ended up with was absolutely perfect. They managed to incorporate the listed features within the room seamlessly.

The workmanship is second to none, the attention to detail is outstanding. Rather than bolting a new kitchen on to an old property that would look tired and dated in a few years it feels like we have genuinely added something beautiful that will continue to be beautiful for generations to come.

We have a young family so the thought of being without a kitchen and all the mess and distruption was daunting to say the least but they made the whole process incredibly easy and the fitters were exceptionly organised and tidy.

There are cheaper options available but they do not give the same value for money.

We really couldn't be happier and will recommend Unfitted to everyone that asks, and frequently those that don't.

Do not use Unfitted.
October 22, 2017

We thought we were buying a solid wood kitchen, it is not, far from it. The list of errors and problems that we have with our kitchen is too long for me to write. We've been left with a kitchen that doesn't fit the space correctly, incorrect handles, wonky drawers etc etc etc. They have stopped communicating with us now! The people are nice, but I wanted a really good solid wood kitchen and what I've got is an absolute joke.

Mark the Director visited us twice in our home and as another family in our village had had an Unfitted kitchen we felt reassured this was a reputable company. However the fitting of the kitchen itself was stressful and problematic. Too many annoyances to mention but mostly they were measurement (by Mark) related - over-oven gantry unit too big too go in the front door, washing machine unit too small, Aga delivered directly to us instead of to unfitted and then the fitter refusing to help us move it into the house and connect it up, advising us of the wro g dimensions for the extractor fan exit hole which is now much bigger than really needed. Most annoying though was the fact that what Mark said could be done by them on site (plumbing dishwasher in) the fitter on site refused to do. This required an emergency plumber at great cost and was particularly annoying as I had premepted this and it could have all been done before Unfitted got on site. It seems the company pressure the fitters with too little time for fitting so they try to rush it or get out of jobs that will take them over their paid set days. The finished product is beautiful but I wouldn't use them again for sheer incompetence and frustrating office-to-fitter communications and non-existent after sales. When I listed my complaints to them by email we didn't even get an acknowledgement. Says it all.

The whole cottage works brilliantly for us and our kitchen is the heart of it. I love cooking, eating, and just being in it... and often I choose to work at the table rather than sit in the study. We have so many fond memories of the renovation process and of course you were a huge part of what we did... As I told Andy, you were responsible for our bathroom design with the little step up to the shower across the whole length of the wall, the re-jig on the hall and utility dimensions and obviously the kitchen. There is nothing we would want to change even 4 years down the line!

The kitchen is really hardwearing and copes with the dogs running in and out (do you remember choosing the floor on a wet day with your dog and ours running in and out over the stones with wet feet!?) and looks as beautiful now as it did when it was fitted. Ive religiously oiled the worktops and they are mellow and unmarked. Its all great!

Please do call in sometime if you are ever passing or if you ever have someone close who wants to look at a kitchen and bring them over.

The work you did with us was amazing - we owe you so much for all your thought, planning and ideas.

Ruth

Nothing was too much trouble for Mark and the team at Unfitted. From the initial site survey, designs, a visit to the showroom and workshops near Cheltenham, revisits to our home to check measurements, meet the contractors and finalise colours (I did need help as there's so much choice), we were updated and informed all the way through the process.
The kitchen and fitters turned up on the day agreed (highly unusual nowadays) and a week later the quartz marble worktops had been templated and fitted and the kitchen finished.
I really shouldn't have worried because two neighbours in our street had kitchens from Unfitted and so they came highly recommended. Thank you.

Wow, what a fantastic kitchen Unfitted designed for us. From the initial advice (Mark travelled up to Scotland to visit us), the great designs and service to the delivery of the kitchen, everything was an absolute pleasure. We hadn't considered an Everhot cooker but Mark persuaded us and now its the heart of our lovely kitchen.
Next time you're in Scotland Mark, please drop by for a drink (and meal if you time it right).
Thanks for a great service.

We wanted to drop you a note to say how pleased were are with the kitchen, it really does look and feel fabulous. We really appreciate all the time and hard work you put in. I really couldnt imagine any other company being so easy and friendly to deal with. Thank you Mark & Maria for being so helpful throughout the process (especially as in retrospect our timescales were pretty tight!) and insightful on the design side, and thank you Richard its great to see a real craftsman at work and your attention to detail was so impressive

Really just to say how thrilled we are with our new kitchen, through all that stress with the rest of the house, the kitchen made it all worth while. Thank you to all involved from the very beginning, when we walked into the 'Unfitted' in Moreton in Marsh - to the final men who fitted the granite.

Very Many Thanks

Thank you so much for all that you did to ensure that we were up and running in time for Christmas.

The kitchen is fabulous, and is meeting universal critical acclaim. We are thrilled with it and with the quality of the workmanship.

Nothing was ever too much trouble. Mark visited us four times to discuss and finalise the design. The kitchen arrived on time and Richard the kitchen fitter was delightful. Amazingly, the granite was templated and fitted within two days (on a Sunday). Mark then visited us to ensure everything was okay (and leave us with some mince pies!).

We can thoroughly recommend Unfitted.
