I will admit that Twitter can be a good way to stay in touch with people, Facebook is defiantly better for that purpose. With Twitter, you are limited to the length of your post and your personal messages to other users and that can often times be frustrating. Also, there are times when Twitter will be down and inaccessible for long periods of time. However, Twitter also seems to me to be a little more secure than Facebook, I feel a lot safer using Twitter than I feel using Facebook.
Twitter is not my favourite site.
Ive tried using it but its just so clogged up with nonsense that I don't see the point.
Most people I know used it for a while then got bored with it.
I think the idea is to write down your activities and thoughts in less than 140 characters and the publish them for all the world to see.
Tends to get filled up with lots of spam links to websites.
I thought you got locked up if you followed celebities.
Overall - Useless.
Sometimes twitter is like a whole bunch of random junk from self-help/motivational books and crappy forwards. People don't even write about their mundane lives. All they do is retweet what other people say usually with links to articles or blogs or something. Not easy to find people and sometimes you get all these random followers from something you said. Like I said I didn't like my gym and said the gym's name and then I got all these followers from gyms and stuff like that.
If you want to waste your time go look at fluffy kitties or something.
I just don't understand why this site is so popular. 140 characters of boredom if you ask me.
I really like the up to the minute updates during current events, and the downright hilarious updates some people post. When I am having a bad day I search for random words and can always find a good laugh.
This is the lamest site I have ever checked out, it's a porthole for idiots to post potty time to where they are now, Nothing Better to do than use this site, Ask Someone For Help In Life, and Get The Heck Out Of Here! Let them Stuff that Bird!
Losers Site, porthole waiting for computers to burn and crash!
I think using a real person is best, Fiverr is low class as far as who is running it. I found a woman on Twitter (@BargainGigs) who offers cheap gigs too, AND answers your emails. After dealing with Fiverr.com I decided to drop it. They are only concerned about making profits, and quite frankly a lot of their members, sellers especially are dropping Fiverr too to join other more reputable sites or selling there own gigs.
I LOVE TWITTER! It's one of the best social media tools to keep your followers up to date on the things you're doing. Great way to keep up with your friends and what they are doing as well. BE AWARE OF SCAMMERS/VIRUSES! Don't click on any links that you might think be suspicious.
I like it, it gives a chance to catch up with old mates and make new 1s u just gotta b careful and know who ur tlkin 2 lol!
Twitter. Twitter. Twitter.
Teens are tweeting about TWITTER.COM, a microblogging and social networking site that allows users to send and receive "tweets" -- short updates of 140 characters or less -- to and from the Twitter site and cell phones, as well as other Web applications like IM and Facebook. Find Twitter friends you want to keep up with? "Follow" those folks to receive all their updates. Users can choose to keep profiles private, which means followers must be approved before they can read tweets. Twitter is huge as a social tool, but it's also been used by media outlets, politicians, and even the Phoenix spacecraft on Mars to send out info.
Twitter can be great for keeping in touch with friends, or keeping up with what's going on in the world -- especially trends in technology. Twitter attracts a lot of Web-savvy users, many of whom are developing services that enhance Twitter -- like a search engine and a round-up of the most talked-about topics. Twitter's definitely not for kids, though -- especially if it continues to be hands-off in enforcing its Terms of Service.
I would personally recommend this book for people ages 15–18.
I am an early adopter of Twitter, joined in when Odeo launched it few years ago. Nowadays I use it to complement my blog and communicate with people.
It's an awesome site! I use it every day! I'm not that popular on twitter but oh well :)
Hmm both are in the competitive level facebook and twitter one has a special thing that the other does not and they really have the competitiveness in it (in my opinion) it took me time to get to know it and face book and twitter are better than other social sites
I did not want to join it. I did join it because one night CNN was having a battle with Ashton Kutcher and they were trying to get to a million followers. I decided to follow CNN first, but Ashton won... and then I followed him. I found other people on there that I like that are famous and I have been amused ever since.
I have found average people that are entertaining telling me about what their dad says or how their business life is with stupid meetings and inept coworkers. I also found it useful for my current.com articles (but since current.com is a crap site... that no longer matters). I like reading what John Mayer has to say because he's funny at times. I get the CNN stuff and learn things about what's going on quickly. I also do a contest with a NYC Midnight on blogging a story in 140 characters using a specific word. It's great.
Twitter is only as fun as you want it to be. It is not necessary to twitter something. You don't have to twitter at all, you can read what others are saying and be entertained by that. Plus seeing what is on trending topics is great. That is a great gauge of what people think is important at the moment.
Lots of things are fun that seem mundane to others. TV watching would be one of those things for those that like to go outside and DO stuff. Don't like Twitter, you don't have to, but there is a reason why it's popular.
I dislike that it won't let me unfavorite some of my older favorites.
I like that I can keep up-to-date on whatever I want. Ex) Follow nytimes for news, whitehouse for politics, and officialcharice to see what the singer's up to.
This is a really great website. People can't really harm you in any way. You can upload files from your computer to share with others, gaming sites can connect with you, and sharing URL's is really easy. It can be a little hard to get used to but it works in the end! I love this site!
Over the past year Twitter has gone from nowhere to mainstream.
I joined because i wanted to follow updates from my favorite artists, and sports teams, and from my friends. It's actually pretty cool and addictive.
I just don't get it. I don't care what my buddy's dinner looks like, and I don't care where Shaq buys his socks. Twitter is just not for me. It's just a giant time waster.
I used to be on it when it first started, which was kind of cool but then everyone started using it and it ends up being lot of down time on the site. I can't even log onto my account most of the time now. Also, I realize I don't need to know what everyone is doing everyone few seconds... in a way I kind of hope the hype dies down..
Answer: This is a common theme running through Twitter and Instagram. They unjustifiably are blocking accounts deliberately in order to obtain your personal data for financial gain. If you have nothing in which they can make money from, your account is automatically blocked and you will be waiting until sundawn, they will not respond. If enough people leave their platforms there will not be profits for them to make and would crash and burn.
Answer: I would recommend Twitter for the reasons you listed.
