Now that they censor the website it's useless, no good content anymore, users move away in huge numbers
This website contains NSFW stuff and SJWS. Also back in 2015 there was a incident where some SJWS almost droved a artist into suicide just because she din't draw the character fat
Tried numerous times to enter but I get NO response to my email even though it appears to be in their system
Good website. Love that the blog page can be customized to your liking with HTML and CSS. Love the idea of micro-blogging. Love a lot of images I found there. Love that I don't have to sell my kidney to use it unlike Facebook. A very simple and easy to use website. But unfortunately, it came with many downfalls which led to me not using it anymore.
- Note that a lot of Tumblr users depending on your interests, are going to be people of all kinds of attitudes. Unfortunately for me, I loved landscapes and reblog landscape photos all the time and one person I followed and reblogged from publically humiliated me by screenshot and laughed with her other friends on Tumblr on all the pictures I reblogged from her at once. That was immature. I unfollowed her and her friends and hated those snotty teenagers who think they're "Tumblr famous" and all that non-sense.
- If you want to protect your work or your music, you will be disappointed. I have seen people's photography posted up, modified, etc. Music being uploaded, etc.
- Lastly, if you do not want to see any porn, you might want to be careful with your searches. I hate to be judgmental, but I was quite disgusted with a lot of the images and animated. Gifs being posted on Tumblr. Watch out for the porn blogs.
In other words, Tumblr has a great concept but has extremely poor management. It's sickening that a community like Tumblr was created where users are so quickly to attack, quickly offended and constantly harassing other users or humiliating them to no end. And you can't even block the porn even if you wanted to; I bumped into so much of it by accident, no joke.
I used to love tumblr, I really did. But the site just keeps getting worse and the customer service is terrible. Every time I have ever tried to contact support they either ignore me or brush me aside.
If you ever get locked out of your account getting it back will be a headache. (Unless they have changed their process in the past year, which I doubt) At least my experience of trying to unlock my account after the two factor authentication process locked me out of my account was pretty bad. (I never received the the codes and requested it too many time so the account got locked). When I tried to contact support they told me that I had to post a photo of myself holding a sign that says "Tumblr, this is literally me" on the blog that I was LOCKED OUT OF in order for them to help me further. Thankfully I was still logged into my account on my phone, because if I hadn't I would have had NO way to do what they were asking. Worse still is when I e-mailed them back asking why I had to do that they did not respond. Days went by and nothing. So I gave in and did what they wanted and sent them the link with all the info they wanted from me and they STILL did not respond. WEEKS go by and still nothing. So I try contacting them from a different email and they respond to me THAT DAY. (and I was finally able to get my account unlocked) So that means that they literally BLOCKED my other email for DARING to ask why I had to post a photo of myself on my blog that I was LOCKED OUT OF. Again, if I had not been logged into the account on my phone via the app I would not have even been able to do what they asked and they gave me no other alternative! All I did was ask why I had to post a photo of myself and if there was another method of proving who I was. I don't think I was being unreasonable by asking that.
I share the opinion of others below when it comes to this website. I joined it over 5 years ago and was a part of the Sims community. Everything was fine and then the NSFW ban came into place. A lot of blogs were flagged, some unnecessarily and couldn't get their blogs unflagged. October 14th, a number of my posts started going missing. When I contacted staff about the missing posts, I received an email back from someone named, "Ana" pretty much putting the blame on my browser by saying the browser cache was most likely corrupt. When I emailed her back to let her know that my browser settings are to clear all data when the browser is closed, so a corrupt cache wasn't the case, she never responded back.
I'm one of the people who logged on in the middle of the day to see that Tumblr had deactivated my account with no warning, no emails. No reply back to my emails questioning what happened and who were the people behind these so called, "multiple DMCA violations." From what I've found out recently, 6 people from the Sims community were gone. 1 person's page got terminated a week before mine and it's still a mystery when it comes to the other 5. No one knows if they got sick of Tumblr and left or were forced out. Now people are getting threatened by outside sources while staff just sits back and let porn blogs run wild. They're letting fake blogs reblog content and insert porn links into the posts. They're letting people advertise their music on other peoples content. They don't reply to emails and their flagging system is ran by Bots. (Staff actually admitted this). Might as well have the whole website run by bots since staff clearly doesn't give a crap about it's user base anymore.
Great place to share pictures and for good photographers to get noticed.
This is a pretty cool interesting site. I would recommend it!
Well, quite flexible and easy platform for blogging but needs a SERIOUS monitoring to ward off porn / explicit content.
Answer: Freedom of expression, which has "now" been taken away. So I see no reason Tumblr is better than it's competitors.
Answer: Well, as an Artist I had a show exhibiting my work (in a very Puritan State). I had two pieces taken from the wall and turned backwards, so no one could see them. My pieces challenged thought and involved nudity. Tumblr, is now another "online" community turning pictures around so voices and messages cannot be seen or heard.
Answer: Newgrounds, Pillowfort, Amino Apps, and Twitter are all much better than Tumblr, although Twitter is still very risky so, keep your guard up.
