I first joined this site back in '13 but I didn't quite get into it until a little later in '13 and I found it to be a lot of fun to use, going on to make five more since. Sure, we do have that vocal minority (or majority, I don't really know) but there's a lot of fun and wonderful people on there.
Unfortunately, it's taken a hit with it's new guidelines (which only came about because of the FOSTA-SESTA act) and, to be honest, I do think there could have been something more of a middle ground when the changes went into the effect but the new laws put in place that lead to the changes poses a lot of liability as far as it goes, on top of AIs being a crapshoot. Otherwise, not much about it has changed.
All in all, I recommend the site.
Tumblr is an invaluable social network that almost anyone can enjoy. The customer service is great, and it is the perfect way to get involved in a friendly community.
Y'all banned "female-presenting nipples" before you banned literal, actual Nazis.
You decided queer misfits are harder to market to than the people who literally want to kill them.
All right then.
I've had a Tumblr blog since 2010. Things used to be great and then the Russian bot accounts (some with porn, some without) that spammed tags made things crazy for a while. It's settled down, but since December 2018 when they started flagging posts for "adult content" it's gone completely around the bend. I have a blog dedicated to an old sci-fi TV show. I make a lot of photo posts, which are completely SFW. Tumblr would flag more than half of them as "adult content." I'd appeal them and they'd get reinstated, but it was very tiring to go slogging through all these posts and have to appeal them. I contacted Support countless times and they were useless. Going through my blog's archive, I recently discovered that posts I'd made 1-2 years ago had been marked as "possible adult content" and were hidden from the public. Clicking on the actual posts came up with "URL not found", meaning they deleted them (below are photos showing what happened). I was never even notified of this. Angrily contacted Support, got their useless "Zendesk" bot with a totally irrelevant reply. I'm just disgusted they've deleted totally innocent, SFW posts without notifying me. In recent days they've laid off flagging my new posts but I'm nearly done with them. I've backed up my blog to Wordpress and will continue updating there. Thanks for turning what was once an enjoyable experience into a nightmare, Tumblr.

Web 2.0 tools have made sharing tastes, interests, and more than anything stories more possible than ever. Social news and networking sites are the primary vehicles for this exchange of information, with different sites geared toward different methods of distribution.
Tumblr delivers content through a "dashboard", an aggregate feed of any tumblelogs subscribed to by the account holder. Users sign up for an account, which includes the creation of a blog of their own. Tumblr's approach to content is interesting as it is not simply just following other blogs and posting your own original content. Tumblr allows you to "reblog" others' content, which conveniently copies whatever the content was, with an option to add new text. Additionally, if enabled on a tumblelog's settings, users may submit questions to the blog which can be responded to privately or published on the blog.
This direction in content publishing means Tumblr is best served as a way to communicate personal information such as taste, stories, and multimedia. Essentially, Tumblr takes the format of a blog, and pairs it with the social networking aspect of Twitter. Just like Twitter though, Tumblr is increasingly being used as a method of spreading more than just personal information with groups and companies as well as individuals, such as GQ, Barack Obama's re-election campaign, and The Economist running very active tumblr accounts.
It's a well built platform, but it seems the only people who use this site are teenage girls trying to post "emotional" pictures and GIFs of their favorite television series'...
My favourite site by far. I found so many interesting blogs there and have been following them every since. I am addicted to it :)
A completely superior resource! I love the arts provided by people. Can have some inappropriate content for a while, that gets moderated.
Staff cant be bothered to remove child abusers, pornbots, or nazis but are quite happy to remove swathes of sfw posts because they cant be assed to code their bots properly
I LOVE THIS SITE SO MUCH.

Love this site! Just go into a certain tag that you're interested in and you'll see all the posts about it. It's the blog site of the new century.
I have a positive opinion about this site! Simple to use, many interesting content and pictures. :) I just like it a lot :)
Started blogging with this site. Great templates and very easy to work with. Love to do it one more time. =)
Its destroying lanaccfinds, most of the sims 4 cc is going to be way harder to find now. Plus artists now can't post nswf content like what
They are banning freedom of self expression by disabling nsfw content. Staff cannot properly run this site so they are punishing everyone else
I've started blogging in this website and I must say that I really really love it! Very easy to use and my favorite is that it renders gifs images
There's nothing left. They pulled the plug on the heart of tumblr. Its now just full of ghosts. The company's greed killed the app
Answer: Freedom of expression, which has "now" been taken away. So I see no reason Tumblr is better than it's competitors.
Answer: Well, as an Artist I had a show exhibiting my work (in a very Puritan State). I had two pieces taken from the wall and turned backwards, so no one could see them. My pieces challenged thought and involved nudity. Tumblr, is now another "online" community turning pictures around so voices and messages cannot be seen or heard.
Answer: Newgrounds, Pillowfort, Amino Apps, and Twitter are all much better than Tumblr, although Twitter is still very risky so, keep your guard up.
