Mixed feelings
May 9, 2023

Took a very long time to receive first box, but the food options were good. Second box arrived on time but I wasn't crazy about the food this time. I forgot to cancel my subscription, at first they denied my request for a refund, but after I replied they offered me a partial refund. I'd say it's a fun thing to try, but if if it doesn't turn out to be your cup of tea, don't forget to cancel before your renewal. It would be nice if you could cancel on their website vs. having to email them.

0 customer service, they will try and not send you boxes and never contact you about it. This place is literally a scam, do not use. I just cancelled my subscription a month ago and they were suppose to send out my remaining 2 boxes even though it was done (I had prepaid) and nobody ever sent it out or contacted me.

Awful
August 24, 2023

Absolute junk. 'Try the World' is a subsidiary of at least one other snack box seller (Universal Yums) - it's role, seemingly, is to take all the leftovers from the other company(ies) and throw them in a box and then brag about how they "curate" the contents. There is no theme or coherence, just odd items that are not very good. The subscription cannot be cancelled no matter how poor the product, so best just to avoid this one all together.

I ordered a three box grouping in February. Received a big discount to place this order. Received my first box at the end of March, second at the end of April and the 3rd today May 28,2024. Not one single item out of these three boxes came from any of my preferred countries. Most items came from the USA. I didn't receive the allotment number of items I was supposed to receive in each box. There was no paperwork to show where these products came from. I had to get a magnifying glass out to look at each product and Google where they were made. A lot of them will say their products from another country that if you look what city they were made in most of them are from New Jersey.
The worst part, before I even received my second box they charged me $105.00, not the $80.00 I had agreed to. I marked that I did not want to subscription but they signed me up for one anyway.
After my initial order I was never able to access my account again. The only emails I received from this company or offers for wine. I never received a single email to reset my password even though I tried daily.

Don't waste your money
August 17, 2023

There is absolutely no communication once your order is placed. Try The World doesn't notify you of shipping or provide and shipping information. The items I received were stale and some were expired. I feel like they source their products from TJ Maxx's clearance section. There is no theme to the box or "story". I tried to cancel and they refused to grant a fefund.

Rip Off!
February 1, 2021

I was excited to receive my box after seeing pictures of all the interesting boxes from different countries. What I received was a hodgepodge of five items that looked like it came from World Market. Items: olive oil, coconut oil, Nando's Peri Peri sauce that I can get down the street from my house, peach gummies and Belgium chocolate spread. This is not at all what is advertised. Save your money, do not buy!

FALSE ADVERTISING
May 29, 2020

FALSE ADVERTISING! BEWARE!
So, the concept looked pretty awesome and they are advertising a free box. I thought, great, I'll try them out and continue the subscription if I like the service. Follow the free box prompts on their website, get a Subtotal of $0.00, and bait and switch at the payment page! Total, $39! I thought, okay, honest mistake. I contact their customer service. Nope, no help there. Total bait and switch! Untrustworthy and, by the way, illegal marketing tactic! I can't trust these people and you shouldn't either!

Very bad value for the 80 dollars CAD that I paid you are supposed to be able to cancel through a subscription tab but the website does not have one nor can one be found on Google or through any other means! Overall experience and value comes across as being very scammy! Never sent an email to confirm original order (checked spam nothing there either) nor to notify that they were putting another order through likely so they can try to fly under the radar while getting as much money out of you as possible... AVOID!

I purchased this in 2015 and each box had a country theme, arrived on time, recipes for the ingredients, and high quality products. Now, in 2020 boxes have random ingredients, close to expiration date, no theme, no recipes, duplicate ingredients, and do not arrive on time. It's difficult to get ahold of anyone, and things have really gone downhill. I ordered for a family member as well, and they told me to get a refund as it was not worth it. Sad, but would not reorder given the state of things.

Beware
October 9, 2018

No customer service. If you have a problem, you are out of luck. I had a problem with a box and left 3 emails and 2 phone messages over the last 3 weeks. No response. I think they might be going out of business? I've never had an experience like this with any other company.

I quit Try The World
December 15, 2017

I had subscribed to Try The World for over two years. At first I was truly impressed. My bi-monthly boxes were filled with very good products. Then about a year ago. The products became pretty mediocre. Then I would be billed for boxes, only to have them arrive two months later. This is the topper. A person receives redeemable points for boxes bought. I had 51 points. I went to redeem them. I saw only cheese for my 50 points. So I went back to see if I could get a 30 point product and a 20 point product, only to be told that had redeemed my points already. An e-mail to customer service went no where. Rip-off company. Beware.

Great Gift
September 26, 2017

I purchased a subscription for my next door neighbors after they saved my cat who got outdoors (we live in coyote country). They have loved every box since! Personally the cocoa in the Paris box is my fav.

Run. I got two boxes for $39 and it was a waste of money and just plain angering. Many of the products were expiring the month I received them or were duplicates of things I got the previous month. Many were made in the United States. Some were not even natural, which is what was advertised when I bought this. Most were completely unappealing. I feel I should be refunded but this is clearly not going to happen and I assume the company is run by unscrupulous people. I hope someone less lazy than me will contact the BBB. Wish I had done more research first.

Not worth the hassle
November 19, 2020

My original review gave them 2 stars. I have changed that to 1 star. It took over 2 months and multiple emails to get my boxes. When I finally did, they sent me 2 identical boxes. I have emailed them again to try to get some kind of value out of this subscription. Very disappointing.

Boxes these days, if they arrive, feature cheap fake international food. Recent boxes have featured an expired bottle of salad dressing you can get at the dollar store and bottles (yes, plural) of Lee Kum Kee brand Chinese sauces. Don't know the name Lee Kum Kee off hand? Do a Google image search and you'll realize you've seen it a million times before as it can be found in every single chain grocery store in the US.

At this point they're customers are so enraged that Try The World deleted and disables comments on almost all social media so they can sucker more unknowing folks into wasting their money.

Awful
November 13, 2023

Extremely, extremely unimpressed. Was supposed to get three boxes from three different countries, but instead got an odd hodgepodge of carby, sugary snacks from who knows what country. They sneakily renewed my subscription without my authorization, and would not offer a refund. AVOID this poor excuse for a company.

Terrible
December 13, 2019

Terrible! Order a 3 box delivery for my son. He never received the box, so I contacted them (which is also very difficult). They said they would send it and give him another bonus box for the trouble. He said he finally received it two months late. He stated the box was filled with "weird" spices and no instruction on how to use them. Again I contacted them and they emailed back that they would send another shipment (i think their response is a blanketed response they use over and over). They never send another box! Not the free ones or the 2 extras they promised. THEY ARE A SCAM! Save your money

Not good
May 28, 2021

Received a 6 month gift. First couple of boxes were "interesting". No "wow" items. From there, it only went from bad to worse. It is not themed by country or region, as advertised. The company simply buys a lot of "crap" from whomever they can buy it the cheapest. Sauces are repeated, drinks are mostly nasty, odd items are just fillers (like organic dijon mustard in a tube, that's hard to squeeze and way inferior to regular dijon mustard), inedible items - and there were several (like the jar labeled TonNino, which was supposed to be tuna in a jar of oil, and it tasted like a spoiled can of cheap tuna fish - straight to the garbage). Every package was worse than the previous. Our gifter clearly overpaid for this food club. Like I said, this company just buys anything that is cheap, without regard for taste, real uniqueness or originality. You have been warned...

Terrible service
October 14, 2022

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY. I ordered a set of 3 boxes as a gift to my brother. They didn't deliver any boxes after several months, but they charged for another set of 3 boxes. I emailed about this, and they said they would send the boxes. Another several months pass, and my brother has received a total of 2 boxes. By this point they had charged me for 9 boxes. Completely ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is when I asked for my money back for all the boxes that weren't delivered, they refused. They did say they would send all the boxes I had paid for, but I'm not holding my breath. Absolutely horrible company. Terrible service experience topped off by an astoundingly insulting refusal to refund for service they didn't render.

Trytheworld keeps on trying to recruit our business to give them stuff (so that you, the consumer, can pay to get it from them)... "you can always use product that might be close to expiration that you wouldn't normally be able to sell anyways. Its a good way to get awesome visibility and marketing."

Right. Also, we're not even a business that makes products. Which they could figure out in a split second if they ever looked. I've responded to the e-mails close to a dozen times. I never hear back.
