Untrustworthy
September 30, 2023

I recently experienced how companies manipulate Trustpilot by removing negative reviews and easily posting fake positive ones.

I wrote a factual review about a company that scammed my elderly mother, leading to bank intervention to recover the stolen money. The company disputed my review, claiming it never happened and my review was removed. This happened to other similar reviews as well. Trustpilot is so unreliable and easily manipulated by scamming companies.

They remove reviews to appease the businesses they pretend to review.
Don't believe me? Try and leave a negative review on a legitimate transaction and see what happens.

It wouldn't be so bad for a business to be dishonest if their business wasn't the review of other businesses. Truly, these people are utterly lacking in principles or morals.

For business owners

If you use the free service of Trustpilot - you are in trouble. If you will get negative reviews made by competitors, they will just ignore things instead help you to solve them. They are just a content aggregator, and reviews are used to help to go up in search engines! What is the funniest fact about TRUSTPILOT? They do not allow to leave comments about their business on FACEBOOK, GOOGLE or any other popular website... sounds dodgy right? Learn from my mistakes. Avoid this trash company!

99% Fake Reviews
May 5, 2022

An online retailer totally scammed me, sent me fake gemstones. When I looked at Trustpilot, this place had almost a perfect 5 star average with hundreds of reviews. However, when I started reading the reviews, they were all in the same broken English, used the same exact terminology, obviously fake profile pics for the reviewers, literally 100s of the exact same fake review. It is just monumentally ironic that the word "trust" is in their name. I notified them of the fake reviews. They literally did nothing. Basically the purpose of Trustpilot is to make money from businesses (or scammers) who pay them to make them look good, artificially. They really should be rebranded as a PR agency. It tells you something when almost every single business with a high Trustpilot rating has 1-star averages everywhere else.

Trustpilot solicited a review from me from TDI Tuning, a company in UK that provides tuning equipment. I had purchased my equipment > 12 months ago - but they could know that before asking me to review. I gave a negative review. They asked me to verify the purchase which I did - then all of a sudden my negative review wasn't valid because the purchase was made > 12 months ago. Uh, ok, so you asked me to post the review and you delete negative reviews if the purchase was over 12 months ago - but all the positive reviews made for purchases > 12 months ago get to remain. This practice skews reviews toward the positive - suggest putting the word trust in quotations. Not trustworthy, not valid.

I went through the rigamarole of setting up an account with my email address so I could write a review. When I click on the "write a review" link, I repeatedly get a 504 error. Repeatedly. I think TrustPilot is useless.

Trustpilot appears to be a scam. Evidence suggests that they are paid by the companies to get real negative reviews blocked and removed. Their so-called "Compliance Team" makes up fake reasons as to why the review does not reach their criteria. For example, they allege that there are names of people in the review even if there are only initials. However, even after the initials have been removed, they still maintain that the offending content has not been removed when it has. And even after you write to them and ask them to kindly tell you exactly which bits they don't like so that they can be removed, they simply act as if nothing was removed and close down the case. Astonishingly dishonest behaviour. DEFINITELY NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

McQueens Daries I signed up to support this business. At the time I had to give where milk and eggs to be left. My eggs have been left in too ofbox provided and birds have decimated them. Last week complained when all that I had was empty egg box.
I was told nothing could be done as this was nature!?. So not failure on McQee to follow customer instruction. After complaint I expected eggs in box provided but no placed on top.!

I gave a critical review of a train ticket website of omio.com saying that they did not give a price for a train ticket from Lindenwold NJ, to Atlantic City NJ, and they flagged it for "Harmful sayings". What harmful sayings? If anything, Trustpilot cannot be trusted at all. I'm just a reviewer criticizing bad companies, and now I'm criticizing Trustpilot because they are corrupt and a bad company itself.

TrustPilot (TP) has become a mecca for paid 5-star reviews. Most all scam websites have 5-star reviews on TP. In addition, these scammers have opened paid business accounts with them which entitles scammers to flag a negative review as soon as it appears on TP. I have lost trust and faith in TrustPilot as I was recently scammed out of a little over $6,000 by cloud mining companies (teccrypto.com and cyphergains.com) and when I posted my personal experience on TrustPilot, they allowed both of these companies to flag me right away. So, I moved forward with opening cases with FTC and IC3.
You can no longer trust the 5-star reviews on TrustPilot. They are, most probably, from people who were paid in return.

Hi guys,
These reviews are not legitim.

If you put a bad review to a company today and in a couple of months later you check the review it will no longer be there.
The company that you have put a bad review will contact Trustpilot and they will handle everything.
Trustpilot is not a good guidance. AVOID

They are a scam really and remove genuine reviews on behalf of big companies. Two forms, totaljobs and freeads advertise misleading content and when I left a review of this fact... it was flagged and then deleted as not real... when in fact they are real reviews.

I recently had a bad experience with Kraken and left a review on Trust Pilot. Kraken sent an email telling me they are closing my account for a security reason (that they wont tell me) and I am to withdraw any funds in 72hrs, then they said we hope you understand! Understand what I asked, no reason was given so I don't know what I am supposed to understand? I put a review on Trust Pilot and Kraken replied to my review and said if I gave them the ticket # to my case they would look into except there is now way to get a hold of Bea in support, she left no contact info. How the hell am I supposed to give you the ticket #? Never mind you already know who I am so cant you just look into it?
Trust pilot just took my review down of Kraken down because they couldn't confirm it. I copied the whole email from Kraken what more proof do you need. They probably couldn't get ahold of them either is my guess. What a joke they both are.
Steer clear of both is my opinion.

They wouldn't publish my review of an Airbnb I stayed at in Denver (second time) saying it was too personal and didn't match their standards. They want to protect their user base and feel they are immune from allowing criticism (in my case and I imagine in others). The Airbnb reviewer of my stay was critical, lazy and didn't see what I had sent her that explained that I became violently ill while at the place. We did pay extra to Airbnb when asked and I was prepared to do that. Their self review of the place is a gross overstatement of their accommodations as well. It is listed as a lovely place but in reality is a spot in the basement of a house in a nice neighborhood. The owner of the home seems to be a good person but the woman who manages the place is BAD.

They removed my honest and detailed review twice and asked me to proove with documents the link with the company reviewed. I sent them the contract and messages screenshot and emails exchanged but they refused them because cannot see the company name why company name is clearly stated there. There is no 3rd party to review this and they do what they want. Their clients pay a subscription for the service so this is a conflict of interest in fact but there is no organisation to regulate them so they don't care

I wrote a negative review of a company on trustpilot based on my real experience with that company. My review was rejected because I used the word "crap". So I rewrote the review using without the "offensive" word. Writing that I had to contact the BBB in order to receive my refund.

Every word that I wrote was absolutely true to my experience with the company but trustpilot rejected it, wanting me to take out the part about having to complain to the BBB in order to get my refund.

Trustpilot acted as a censor for that company, as such I believe none of their reviews can be taken seriously as they ONLY accept positive reviews for companies that are paying them.

Trustpilot is as phony as a 3 dollar bill, and as trustworthy as a used car salesman

What a quack company they are. Basically, they get to decide what is true fromthe consumer experience. Their review system is useless and you are in bed with those who pay you which is the company. Trustpilot is a lie. How do you like that for a review.

From trustpilot support had the neve to block my account, i mean come on now, on top, after so many years, and the best part, the trustpilot logo is on the illegal Germany Website. So trustpilot is also responsible for all people who been scammed on this website.
