Untrustworthy
October 12, 2016

I have used many times but am finding they do not post all sites for a hotel as they say. I have found cheaper rates on the hotels own website many times and they advertise that all they do is compare all sites to find the cheapest. Do not trust. I only use to find out what hotels there are available in a given area and then do my own search after I choose one.

The ad I just saw advised a man whose girl friend looked at his browser history and didn't like what he was looking at and so kicked him out of the house to go to a local hotel that he could book on Trivago and have WiFi (so he could continue to browse sleazy websites). Not cool at all, Trivago!

I had a reservation at the Diplomat in Fl Lauderdale at $239 per night. Went online and saw Trivago at $184 per night, so for my 3 night stay I should have saved $165, right? No. The total came out to only an $84 savings- I guess because of fees. Then I get sketchy calls from some company called Cancelon with an Indian or Pakistani guy wanting to ask me questions to confirm my reservations. Next, when I went to confirm my reservation with the Diplomat, they did not have my reservation yet AND she reminded me that Hilton offers a price match +20% guarantee. Drat! Next time just call the hotels and book with them directly. There is just something that does not sit right with me about Trivago and Cancelon and it is not worth the $84 savings - I could have saved even more if I had called the hotel

My room at the Hampton Inn was booked at $119.00. My Daughter's was $59 through a different hotel search. Was the same night, same type of room & accomidations. Trivago is a total ripoff! Have deleted their app! Thank you very little!

Hello Denny,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We have sent you a private message to provide you with assistance and provide further information. I would also like to clarify things for those that may read your comments.

Firstly, it is important to bear in mind that we do not set the prices for the hotels, nor take part in any of the booking process. What trivago does is simply displays the deals from the booking sites all together, in one place, for users to compare and choose from.

Our main purpose is to help users find their ideal hotel at the best possible price. We function as a portal for hotels to advertise themselves, as well as a meta-search for booking sites to display their rates and increase the traffic to their companies.

Sometimes booking directly with the hotel can be cheaper if they are promoting special rates, however, for the most part, their sell rates do not fluctuate as much as those which are sold through booking sites. Our main goal is to help people find that particular ideal hotel to fit their needs, then they can book it however they choose.

We are also currently integrating Direct Connect, which is a service where hotels can directly display their own rates on trivago and promote themselves this way.

We hope that the above clarifies things from our side and explains how trivago works in more detail.

Kind regards,
James Morrison

Site didn't even work!
September 16, 2016

Went on their site, clicked on the hotel I wanted, a window opens up telling me they're getting my info... nothing happens. I couldn't book anything if I wanted to, judging by the reviews, that's a good thing. I'll remember that next time I see one of their annoying ads with an unshaven, unkempt slob with his shirt tail hanging out, lol!

BEWARE
September 9, 2016

The phone numbers for a hotel I checked turn out to be for a porn site!

I have been in contact with Trivago and this issue has been resolved.
Trivago was very responsive to my concern.

Hi John,

Thank you for taking the time to update your review.

We would just like to make it very clear to those reading this that the phone number listed on trivago for the hotel in question was in fact the correct official number of the property. John was unable to tell us where he found the incorrect number but we can assure all that it was not on trivago.

Kindest regards,

An amazing experience. The best way to see the Athabasca river. It was our first time and our expectations were exceeded! We had an amazing guide, called Jhett who took the time to explain the currents and the importance of team work. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and very safety oriented. We enjoyed the class 2+ ride and hope to one day come back and try class three.

Last weekend we flew to San Francisco for the weekend. I had booked a hotels month in advance on the advice of a friend but when we arrived, the guest rooms were very tiny and my wife and j are very talk! It became clear that the room wouldn't work for our needs but I was a little overwhelmed that finding a reasonably priced hotel on such short notice would be almost impossible. I decided to Google Trivalgo and I found a great hotel. I booked it for the next three nights, I was assured that while my credit card was needed to reserve the room, I would not be charged until I was at the hotel. Everything worked perfectly and now I'm a big Trivalgo fan

Once, but not again
August 3, 2016

We spent three nights at this hotel, yet never received room service. I was pleased by the spaciousness of the room but could not overlook the (fairly clean) yet outdated nature. The grounds (and stairways!) are in complete disrepair. I enjoyed the quality of breakfast but was absolutely dismayed by the nazi nature of staffing: breakfast is pulled at the exact minute despite guest needs~ I arrived 15 minutes before closing (9am) yet was refused (apon asking) eggs (empty tray) for my 15 month old child because it "was too close to closing". Such disregard means I will never stay at this location (or probably any choice hotels again).

Cheap hotel, smells of ethnic food, looks bad on outside, rooms ok but need detail cleaned and painted. Bathroom need help. No fresh toilet paper. Lobby dirty and messy with owners kids stuff. Pool nasty with werid algie on bottom. Ice machine not working. AdAdvertised breakfast... burnt coffee reaked in lobby with a packed honey bun on plate. Cheap enough for one night but never go again.

Dear Nati,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on Sitejabber.

We are more than happy to reach out to Happyrooms on your behalf and request that they get in contact with you as soon as possible to provide you with the necessary assistance.

However, as a hotel price comparison site and not a booking site, trivago keeps no records of the transactions made through the booking sites and cannot alter or access your booking in any way. In order to make any changes, cancel, or confirm your current reservation, you will need to do so with Happyrooms.

On trivago, users can search and compare different hotels and prices on our site. We pull information from multiple OTAs (online travel agencies such as Expedia or Booking.com) and display the prices together. However, once a user clicks through to ‘view deal’, they are directed to the appropriate booking site which provides that price to complete reservation and payment details. Trivago doesn't actually have any involvement in the making of the booking.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. I will do my utmost to assist you.

Kind regards,
James Morrison

Dear Ed,

Thank you for your message and we appreciate this feedback.

Hotels distribute discounted rates to multiple booking sites which are usually under the normal BAR or sell rate which can be booked directly at the hotel. What trivago does is simply displays them all together, in one place, for users to compare and choose from. Our main purpose is to help users find their ideal hotel at the best price.

We function as a portal for hotels to advertise themselves, as well as a meta-search for booking sites to display their rates and increase the traffic to their companies.

Our main goal is to help people find that particular ideal hotel to fit their needs, then they can book it however they choose. We are also currently integrating Direct Connect, an option that you might find useful, which is a service where hotels can directly display their own rates on trivago and promote themselves this way.

We hope that this clarifies things from our side.

booking.com
June 24, 2016

Trivago connects you to booking.com automatically to make the reservation. The booking.com says that you can cancel but once you reserve they won't let you cancel without charging a fee that is equal to the entire reservation cost. They said that they would check with the hotel to see if the hotel would waive the fee. After a long hold I was told I couldn't cancel without being charged the fee. I later called the hotel directly and was told that there would be no problem to cancel without a fee. Booking.com is deceptive and dishonest. I won't be using Trivago or booking.com again.

We celebrated 50th wedding anniversary of our parents in Saffron Leaf hotel, GMS Road on 12th June, 2016. It offered a complete package of an expansive banquet, delicious food and exotic ambience.
All arrangement by the Banquet Manager, Mr. Uttam Rawat were at par with the reputation that precedes it. Apart from managing the arrangements, he took personal care of our guest as well. The food arrangement was well taken care of by Chef Kulbeer Rana under the supervision of Mr. Qureshi. The food and services provided were value for money and were simply great.
All in all an amazing price performance point.

Buyers beware, I booked a room over the Memorial day weekend May 28th - 30th in New Orleans, I did notice that while deciding on the Hotel brand that I was moved to AMOMA site.

Picked the Hotel, drive 7 hours only to arrive at the Hotel and told that their was NO reservation for me, called the number on my confirmation, on hold for almost 30 minutes to finely talk with someone from Switzerland. She says the Hotel is the issue, I hand my cell to the Hotel manager, he tells her their is no reservation and also NO rooms available.

So fast forward, I have been battling AMOMA and Trivago not since May 30th, they say I never showed up to the Hotel, Wow, what a dishonest business these people are running.

I've had not to dispute this through my credit card company, I will NEVER use these people again, I suggest that folks use another service or just book direct.

I wish I had read reviews before they stole $550.00 from me, BEWARE...

Absolutely the worst. Never, ever use them. Ruined my vacation, and they take no responsibility for their screw ups. Everyone points fingers at everyone else. I am bringing a law suit against them, which means going to NYC to get a judgement. It will be worth it.

I repeat: contemptible company, use at your own peril!

SCAM
June 8, 2016

I booked an available unit on the morning of 6/6/2016 that was completely available. It was a location in steamboat springs for 12/30/2016 - 1/4-2017. They wanted payment in full at the time of booking. Later in the day I receive an email stating "Sorry, were booked".

I went back to Trivago and the unit is now blocked out for 12/26 - 1/3 and the price has went up on the surrounding dates. I now have a $1,500+ hold on my credit card and no room. This unit was not booked. That is a lie. Someone saw a chance to take it for themselves or make more money. My guess is that it will be available again in a few days at a higher price. NEVER AGAIN! Fool me once...
