WARNING: DON'T SELL ON TRADESY
Tradesy used to be a good platform for sellers, the major reason being that they handled returns (as long as the item was listed accurately). However, a new policy has changed this, and they will return the item to you for any reason, even if the item was listed accurately. The reason that they will cite is that the item was sold "above fair market value," which they don't even specify. Clearly this is a way for Tradesy to avoid reselling the item and dealing with inventory.
Unless you want to waste your time shipping items that will only be refunded when buyers return them, do not sell on Tradesy
---------------------------------------------
Dear Tradesy,
As a seller, I am tremendously disappointed to hear that you are returning my item---the item was listed accurately and the buyer chose to purchase the item, which should be adequate demonstration of "fair market value." You did not even state what you consider "fair market value" for the item, which points to a complete lack of transparency regarding your return policy for sellers.
I have been a seller on Tradesy for the past several years. The main reason that I was a seller on Tradesy was because of your prior return policy for sellers of accepting returns, as long as the item was accurately listed. Clearly this is no longer the case and Tradesy has decided not to handle any seller returns, using the "fair market value" reason as an excuse.
I will be pulling all of my listings off Tradesy and will not sell or buy on your website anymore.
If I could give negative stars I would. A month later I am still waiting for payment of my item. Then must sacrifice 2.9% because I don't want to spend the money with them. Awaiting payment for one more item and then I'm done with this company. Reporting them to my State Attorney General's Office!
Same thing happened to me sold a pair of Chanel shoes which I paid a lot for they were in beautiful condition never worn customer returned to Tradsey it is their right to. Tradsey says for any reason fit etc. Tradsey wrote me and told me they're coming back after they held them for a month, almost time to pay out said they did determine them as they were not fair market value and could not be resold at that price. Though I had sold them at that price and now They have had them for a few more days I have the tracking number and have not shipped them. I have another item pending Im canceling the sale so basically their rules bad to come back if they determine it not fair market value I sent them a letter and asked them if they thought it was fair market value before I accept and confirm it, they did not respond I guess they don't want to wrangle their selves into putting it in writing then so they can send the bag back. So Sad Tradsey is about to go belly up.
This was my first and last time selling an item on the website. They have the ability to release your ACH funds but will hold them for a mandatory 6 days. I sell on eBay and my funds are released as soon as the seller pays. It's a lesson learned. Then their hours of operation are a complete joke. Then every single review I have read is bad. I haven't found one good review yet. They have to change their business model, or they will be out of business. They have my product, but I don't have my money.
This site is beyond bad as they hold your money (probably to earn their own interest on our money). Whatever the reason they are a disgraceful company. I sold a high end bag and still have not received my money! You all seem to know the story so I am done with this scam of a company!
WHATEVER YOU DO NEVER SALE ON TRADESY AN ITEM WAS PURCHASE FROM ME ON 8/29/19 I SHIPPED ITEM ON THE SAME DAY AND WAS ADVISE ONCE SHIPPED THEY CAN COMPLETE MY ORDER SO THAT MY FUNDS COULD BE RELEASE WELL THE ITEM DELIVERED ON 8/31/19 AND THE BUYER HAS NOT RESPONDED THAT THEY RECEIVED THE ITEM SO GUESS WHAT I DONT HAVE MY ITEM NOR DO I HAVE PAYMENT HOW CAN THIS BE LEGAL TRADESY IS A JOKE TAKING PEOPLE MONEY AND HOLDING ON STATING THEY NEED TO CONFIRM WITH THE BUYER THEY RECEIVED WELL SHE HAD TO RECEIVE BECAUSE SHE HAS NOT ONCE INDICATE THAT SHE HASNT AND THEY STILL WANT RELEASE MY MONEY
After my items were sold I never got paid. Now they can't find my account. Tried to work it out with them but they blew me off. I filed a BBB complaint. Just waiting now.
I bought an item and the seller shipped the item to the wrong address... fast forward 1 moNTH later... still no shoes no help at all from customer service after numerous emails and phone calls... I would NEVER ever buy from them again BUYER BEWARE
You literally have to beg for your money- I sold my item on July 19 and still haven't received my money and today is August 29. I got a hold of a sales rep and she said they are running behind because of 4th of July- which is ODD! This isn't the first time I hade to ask for my money!
Tradesy's return policy completely protects the buyer and the seller is treated like a criminal even before the return is processed. Buyers can return for ANY reason and get an instant refund while you pray your merchandise doesn't come back to you trashed, as one of mine did.
I sold a brand new with tags rare caftan dress from Dubai on Tradesy. My item was returned to me jumbled up in a knotted ball. I video taped the opening of the return package. It is riddled in wrinkles that will never be steamed out and a HUGE snag of the garment in the front of the garment (I sent Tradesy these photos) where the rhinestone starts across the chest. This is permanent damage and must have been caused either while the customer was trying on the dress carelessly (the customer told me their reason for returning was it was too small, so maybe she stretched it?) or while jumbled up haphazardly in the bag like trash. The item also smells like perfume.
I always video tape my items before I place them in the boxes to be shipped. I included it in my complain to Tradesy (which wasn't easy to launch), as well as photos which included care instructions that I included in the package for this delicate garment which I steamed before I mailed it to get out just a few wrinkles.
I'm appalled that Tradesy allows its customers to treat garments like total trash. They responded basically saying they try to be fair to the buyer and seller and supposedly checked the item (which means THEY are the one who squished the dress into the bag like trash?) and offering me a $20 credit or $25 towards a purchase! How insulting! I responded that this dress is deemed damaged and unsellable and offered to send it to them and in return, for them to refund me the sale price. They said no and offering a 9% commission off a future sale! Can you believe that? I am taking down all my items and never ever selling with these scammers again. If this is how they treat their sellers -- their bread and butter, I never want to give them my business again!
Please be careful selling on here. I sold a brand new Gucci belt with receipt on here over a month ago. My funds were being held for 21 days which I had no problem waiting when it was finally released I transferred it to my bank account. Which said it would take 7 business days to be released and should be released on or before Aug. 19. Its Aug 21st and I still have yet to receive my money
On May 21,2019, I bought a Louis Vuitton purse for $897 from a seller with the screen name "Gulcan." A box arrived on June 3. However, when I opened the box, it was stuffed with nothing but butcher paper -- no purse, no nothing. I took it back to the post office to see if I could find out more from the tracking slip, and the postmaster said the box weighed 4 pounds and 14 ounces when shipped. We put it on the scale, and it weighed exactly the same, so there never was a purse inside. I have photos of it on the scale, and a video of me opening the box, but this review site won't let me post. It was also odd that the seller never purchased insurance for the package, but instead, just opted for the standard $100 insurance that comes for free. It all points to one conclusion -- scam. Tradesy has several other customers with identical complaints from other sellers, which you can Google by searching for "Tradesy empty box." The most disturbing part is that Tradesy's customer service simply dismissed my complaint because the tracking showed a box was delivered. They never investigated anything further -- just said "we're sorry." Fortunately, I opened another case with my credit card company, and after more than two weeks, they did refund the money. Do not do business with Tradesy, but if for some reason you must, absolutely insist on insurance, and open the box at the post office while on video camera. This company will be shut down one day.
I was trying to see the shipping options for and item and I mistakenly purchased it. I immediately contacted the seller via email requesting them to cancel the order. It was after 5 pm so I didn't get a reply. So I contacted tradesy and the said they can't make seller cancels orders, but if it hasn't been shipped they should cancel it. So emailed the seller again asking them to cancel the order and not ship it. The seller denied my request and said it was already shipped, which was a lie. The items was processed to be shipped until several hours later. They were so greedy and eager for the sell they didn't include insurance or request a signature for the package. I never received the package, because it was stolen. Tradesy did absolutely nothing and refused to hold the seller accountable for poor business practices and acting in bad faith. They denied my request for a refund and refused to help. So I'm just out of $450.
I sold many items on Tradesy FR years and everything was smooth. The past 3 sales I had were returned to me because they claim they were above fair market value. When I ask them what the fair market value for the item is they reply they are unable to determine because it's a combination of factors. If they are not able to determine the value of the item they return it too. However, the item I sold is still for sale so how can't they determine the value. Really? Their guidelines are so broad- it is just a trap so they can keep returning items to Sellers and not get stuck with inventory- YET force buyer to now spend the credit they issued on Tradesy. So what they are really doing is:
1. You list the item within the price range they recommend
2. Item sells
3. Buyer doesn't like the item so they return it for a credit on Tradesy
4. Tradesy returns the item to you and takes the earnings back
5. Buyer is stuck with a credit they must spend on Tradesy
SCAM.
I have been on tradesy for a number of years and have sold over 500 items on their site. The past year things have gone terribly downhill - what was once a safe place to sell has become a dangerous trap for sellers. Sellers have ZERO protection. My last and final experience was selling an authentic pair of rare sunglasses. The money after the three week hold was finally released and transferred to my bank account for the additional fees and additional days of waiting for a simple electronic transfer. Soon after I see a NEGATIVE balance on my earnings with NO EXPLANATION. I called for clarification and the rep told me she would clear it and it was because of a return due to authenticity concerns from those sunglasses. These sunglasses were authenticated on Lollipuff and are absolutely authentic. Tradesy claims to have such gurus in authenticating but when it comes to vintage Chanel I see Tradesy is totally clueless as to what is authentic. Anyhow, they claimed the sunglasses were not authentic and removed the money from the potential earnings of other items I sold. This in itself was frustrating, especially since it was a case that happened after their BS four day return policy. The rep told me they make exceptions and hold by their authenticity guarantee. Ok fine. I was just going to sell them on another site and move on. But when I got my item back it was clearly not the same pair of sunglasses I sent to the buyer. A total switch scam. Wording totally removed, tarnished hardware, missing parts of Chanel stamping. And Tradesy simply claims that they don't take responsibility for non-authentic items. And so I get screwed and left with a loss of $1300 since I can't sell the garbage I got back.
After this incident I pulled 76 listings off and deleted my bank info. Tradesy can attempt to take your money at any time without any explanation - BEWARE. This is not the only time they played with my earnings. This site is NOT SAFE. DO NOT RISK IT! I've had an amazing experience selling on Poshmark and a fair experience selling on Mercari. Trying out Vestiaire as an alternative since they seemed to have decent reviews so far. Let's see the end of Tradesy- May it be soon.
Once upon a time Tradesy was a wonderful place to sell, best of the bunch. Now with their new return policy which places the burden of original shipping on the seller no matter what the reason for return I'd say it's fallen to the bottom. I just received notice of another return, no problem with item but unlike the old days where Tradesy would keep it and resell it themselves it's being sent back to me and all the money from the sale (including shipping) was pulled from my account. Why are they charging such a high commission rate when they offer such crappy service?
What I've found out about Tradesy is not only do they hold your money for 21 days to protect the buyer... not the seller, but then it's another 7 days to get the money they're holding transferred to your bank account! What the hell is that! You get all of these notices to ship within 10 days of the sale but I have to wait 30 days for my money for my item? This is bull$#*!! I'm sorry there isn't a better word. I'll never sell or buy through Tradesy again!
IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR TIME, DONT BUY HERE.
I bought a furla bag past monday and they said it was supposed to be delivered by wednesday, the tracking code said it was delivered but it WAS NOT.
THEY PLAY WITH YOUR TIME AND MONEY. THEY THINK YOU ARE A CLOWN.
They dont respect their costumers. They said they are not making a refund for a lost order. I mean? WHAT? They already charged the large amount of money in my credit card and they plan to remain this claim like this.
I dont recomend this company. If you want to buy good brands for less go to www.6pm. Com
A true rip off and so much hassle once u buy an items that is not right. They claim u get money back but that's 1 in a 100. The other 99 is site credit and u stock. Save the hassle and buy direct plz plz plz don't think u saving money buying from them... description states worn ONLY twice and this is what u get at 595$ when the brand new item is 695
Went from excellent to horrible in a few short years. They try and shove "luxury" items down buyer's throats and don't even show less expensive alternatives when buyers search for items. Browsing for unique, vintage items is a frustrating experience. They have pushed out all reputable, small sellers in favor mass marketed "real" product being shipped in from China and Hong Kong. Meanwhile, they tripled their commissions and reduced their service to zero. Sellers wait a full month before seeing any money while Tradesy takes its commissions the day buyers pay. Now they are returning everything back to the seller - which means seller's are losing money and time and basically "renting" their merchandise because it takes upwards of 2 months to get their items back and they are not always shipped back in the excellent condition they were originally in - plus some sellers don't get their original items back like boxes and dust bags. Seller's merchandise are handled by a dozen people and shipped back and forth a half dozen times before they finally land back on the seller's doorstops. Buyers are not getting very good options because the children hired to work there are clueless about fashion, retail, vintage and collectibles. They hide behind "market value" as a reason to ship returned items back to sellers but have no idea how to appraise items that are no longer available for purchase in department stores or online - only uniquely available in seller's closets. They refuse to accept that market value for vintage, unique and out of stock items is whatever it sells for as that becomes its value to a buyer who can't find the item elsewhere. But now sellers that had those great, vintage items no longer want to sell on Tradesy because when the 20 year olds working in the return department can't google a price - the item gets returned. The only thing Tradesy is interested in is trying to entice buyers with luxury items but Buyers who purchase those items on Tradesy are idiots because they are paying the highest prices on the internet for any of the so-called "real" luxury items -many of which are being shipped from overseas and "authenticated" by 20 year olds with no training or experience. Why would you buy a possibly fake lux item at such high prices to compensate for Tradesy's 25% commission when you can buy one brand new, from a legitimate shop like directly from LV or Saks Fifth for just a little more money? The best part of these online platforms is supposed to be scoring old items you love but can't own unless someone else gives theirs up for sale. All those sellers are leaving Tradesy for better platforms like Mercari and Poshmark and even going back to Ebay which at least still has much higher buyer traffic then Tradesy will ever attract. All I can add is if you are a seller - get your money out and if you are a buyer and have any site credit - spend it now because at the rate Tradesy is going - I wouldn't be on it being around.
Answer: Don't Do It! It takes at least 10 days to get paid. They prefer people that they can control. When you become successful, they will make upp a reason to suspend your account. TRADESY sell fakes, the owner is the closet owner of PENNY LANE It has been proven time and time again she sells Fakes. If you question TRADESY, they will shut your account down, and they do so WITHOUT even talking to you. Bunch of Bullies! Find an alternative. I AM IN THE MIST OF COMMENCING CLASS SUIT ACTION. THEY NEED TO BE TAUGHT A LESSON!
Answer: They advertise a strict selling policy of authentic and accurate descriptions for listing. If by chance an item received is questionable, they have a review process to protect the buyer unlike many other sites out there.
Answer: It says that everything is guaranteed authentic but you have to know your stuff to know if it is authentic. Tradesy people don't see the items unless it is sold and the buyer complains about authenticity. So if you put your trust on tradesy, you are 100% WRONG and will get scammed.
Answer: Yep. Tradesy are infamous for holding your money! They will also refund a sale without any communication with the seller, they don't even tell you why. Tradesy hooked up with Authenticate First, these people don't know what they are doing. Well the messed up big time with my bag, see it was authenticated by a very reputable company. I have ALL my bags authenticated BEFORE I list for sale and of course have the documentation to prove it. The bag was in perfect shape. Tradesy are ignorant, unprofessional and teamed up with a company (authenticate first) who have their heads where the sun don't shine. Tradesy are totally so unprofessional they have not bothered to send me an email even notifying me of the refund, I only found out when I checked on the sales delivery date to find a little sentence that says "refunded". No explanation why, nor when I can expect my property back. Punks! I am still waiting to receive my bag back. I have read on other sites that Tradesy keep the returns and seller is SOL. One seller was screwed out of 2,500 and never received her property back. Tradesy are shady. Another seller has started a class uit action. It's about time Tradesy were taught a lesson and realized that they have no right to keep sellers property. Apparently they resell the items on another site. The person who started the class usit actin has proof of same. Ironically, although some were refunded allegedly for item being fake, they resell and state that it is authentic. I have removed all my items from this shady scam company. I hope the class suit action closes this scam company down!
Answer: Don't ever do business with Tradesy ever! Learned my lesson. Bought a Chanel bag that doesn't look like anything they showed. I took some pictures of what I received vs. what they showed on their listing. They still ignorantly argued that those are the same item. They refused to refund me back the money. I finally disputed it with the credit card company. Tradesy almost ripped me off of my $1,600
Answer: I do not shop with tradesy any longer. FAKE prada duffle bag and im done.
Answer: Eileen: There is not a feedback option on Tradesy as there is with ebay and Threadflip. If I were you, I'd contact Tradesy immediately. While the seller may have purchased a bunch of bags to resell, that would definitely make me nervous. How many days has it been since you purchased the handbag? The number of days that the seller has to confirm the sale may have elapsed so you'd be in the clear. We only have so many days to confirm that we will have the item will ship in a timely manner.
Answer: I would highly recommend you look at RealReal or even ebay as I have sold over 100 items on both and although there is occasionally that one off glitch, they do protect the seller and are very fair from a buyer perspective as well. Do not use Tradesy... everything negative you read in reviews is true unfortunately. I did finally get my money back from tradesy as a seller, but I threatened them to no end and actually emailed the CEO... RUN from this site... save yourself the craziness of poor business practices. Best of luck to you!
Answer: I just had a worst experience with customer service also. I bought a chanel bag over $3K and the condition of the bag received was not the same as what was listed. The authentication card was also missing and there was no dust bag as listed. When I tried to complain & return the item, Blair said that the bag left the headquarters in perfect condition. How did the two big black marks were there within 5 second I got it if it left the headquarter in perfect condition. Instead of trying to solve the issue with the seller about the auth card, she said I could re-list the item to recoup the fund? There was no sign that the item was on final sale. If I knew there were no authentication card and the item was on final sale, I would not spend over $3K for the bag. It was the worst experience of customer service they've had. Lesson learnt and I will not do any business with this site anymore. I will write to BBB and I hope people will do the same.
