Horrible service by a disputes manager. Highly unprofessional. Had a numerous abusive emails from the buyer who lied about the item not being new. Stated all the facts - the trademe disputes manager was just so incompetent about the whole situation to the point making me look like a lier without accepting any of the evidence and facts I've provided as well as ignoring all the abuse and the conflicting information from the buyer. Very rude manner of emailing as well. All of this during Coronavirus lockdown. Completely unreasonable.
Has to be the worst ecommerce site globally the new cio has to be fired destroyed a once fantastic company and turned it into absolute amateur rubbish. No support, arrogant rude customer support with a lack of competency via email, terrible site with clearly no maintenance the cio is a disgrace for ruining this site and should be redeployed to poundland stacking shelves appaling mess if I could give minus I would
I have been trying to withdraw my money from tradeMe since December 2018 and the withdrawal request remain pending until I reached out to a recovery expert Dellj4001{AT}. Com, he guided me on what to do and helped me recover my money back.
I was selling my car on trademe and had another item that had sold on trademe but the trade had not completed i. E I have not been paid.
It was about $25 commission!
My car add came up for renewal at the same time, (which is a $80 add) and I was blocked from renewing my car add until I had paid the commission! This is just bad business to block a $80 add over $25 commssion for a sale I hadn't even completed yet!
Took down my account because they thought i had 2 accounts, i don't. They asked for a drivers licence. I said i didnt have one (i don't) and thet stopped replying, didnt even refund the money i had left on the account.
Have been ripped off on their $#*! website, useless customer service, incompetent to the core while the scammers can continue trading without any consequence
$#*! you trademe, bunch of morons
Trademe recently changed buyer requirements without notifying trademe members.
Now full name match required between account holders and gun license details.
If I could give negative stars I would. This crappy company does not protect the buyer: I bought an item the seller admits was wrecked when they sold it to me and my only recourse is to go to Disputes Tribunal because the clown refuses to refund me and Trademe doesn't intervene in such situations, in fact their customer service team is less than useless and entirely unhelpful, to the point I feel they are practically accusing me of being in the wrong... okay so if I go take this seller to court (and spend even more money filing a case) I have been advised by lawyers should I even win at the Tribunal it's likely the person will try to dodge paying me my refund anyway, even with a court order. Then I'd be out of pocket for the useless item, and have spent even more money on a fee for filing the dispute, and be even worse off! Trademe needs to enforce refunds where seller fault is clear, but they do nothing at all apart from sit on their hands. They should do like ebay where funds are directly removed from a dodgy seller's bank account. Fine then, another buyer off to ebay where buyers are actually valued!
Bought off this site for year's ( happily) now they have changed ownership, their accounts dept is useless!
They pass the buck back to you, when their system fails..
Please, don't be fooled with Trademe Buyer Protection Policy. If you happen to buy an item on Trademe and use online banking to transfer your funds to the seller you may be well in trouble. You are not protected at all in this case! To make it even worse, if the Trademe security system has failed and you used online banking to complete your purchases, you are still not covered!
Trademe refused to refund me $3000 I had paid to a Trademe fake seller, who hacked one of the Trademe accounts for scamming. Despite the fact Trademe failed to prevent the hacker from breaking into their system, the company said they had nothing to do with the incident, as I used the online banking at my own risk (!). Cynical? Indeed! I tried to convince Trademe that it was their security system that failed, and therefore it was on them to fully reimburse me and other victims of the fraud. However, they rejected all my claims and reasoning, shifting all their responsibility to the third parties (the banks, the police, dumb buyers who trusted Trademe and used online banking). After a couple of my emails insisting on the compensation, they stopped responding and ignored all my further enquiries and concerns. I am sure, cases like this should be made known to a wider range of people. What do you think?
The use of this application is poor for the following reasons;
After signing up an account I am now being told my account is not authenticated and I have to pay a small deposit in order to keep using it or ask questions on cars for sale. We don't have to do that in Australia and that seems a joke!
2. When you try get support the biggest scam I have seen for a long time is that you can call them at $1.99 a minute... Like it's a premium phone number service and they are profiting off your need for help because their app is $#*!. That's terrible
3. Usability; compared to applications in Australia this is Mickey mouse half baked application. It's clunky. You try change the make of car and if often picks the make for you. You have to keep going back to the start for a new search. It constantly freezes up. You also can't choose the series of vehicle. Example if you are looking for a turbo forester you can't search for that you have to manually look through all forester ads to find it.
I hope someone soon starts up a competitive app to trademe as the owners clearly think if they have a monopoly they don't have to provide a good product. Charing $1.99 a minute for tech support is just a joke
Come on trade me up your game!
The NZ alternative to ebay with great local support. Used many times, everytime a fair trade. Would recommend all use it to save money on items you would otherwise pay alot more for at the stores.
I am extremely frustrated with Trademe at the moment. I decided to start online selling of some star wars toys. I went at great lengths to import at great expense a huge amount of original Hasbro Star Wars toys from the UK. It was so expensive that I hardly make any profit.
Then out of the blue, Trademe contacted me and claimed I had to proof these were not counterfit items which cannot be listed. I still had the email invoice from the UK company but not the original printout. I could also send them photographs of the boxes and labels the items we sipped in. But Trademe just sent me this silly email that they do not accept that as enough proof.
Now I sit with more than a thousand dollars worth of stock and my entire business plan down the drain. I cannot afford to take a knock like this, but trying to speak to them is like speaking to some childish high school kid.
This after spending months planning it all, sourcing the right vendors, paying a fortune to import stuff to NZ only to get all my plans crushed on the whim of one person there, And there is no appeal process with them.
Really frustrated and Trademe is really not my favourite company at this point. It is people like me that make their business model. But they treat us like dirt.
I contacted TM because someone used my account. Ie I got an email advising that my trade, which I didn't make, was unsuccessful. No reply to two messages.
Hi! I just posted a camera and lens set for 2500$ for sale and chose the payment option "money transfer to bank account". After that I received this email from Isabella Trust from their Safety department, saying: I'm getting in touch about a change we've made to your listing/s *******888 - Canon EOS 6D (WG) To keep Trade Me a safe place to buy and sell, each day we do hundreds of checks to ensure sellers have the items(s) for sale in their possession. A simple way we can do this is by adjusting your listing so that it is covered by Buyer Protection. To do this we've removed any payment options not covered by Buyer Protection, so buyers will need to pay either via Ping (our instant payment system), or with cash.
I think that this unilateral decision is fraudulent! I disagree about this unauthorized way to create an extra fee for me for using PING. I am perfectly fine using my Bank Account without any "security issues". They just created created a "double dip" for themselves "above the already high listing fee and success fee!" This is totally fraudulent! It seems that they just don't get enough!
THIS PEOPLE ARE GOING FAR ABOVE THE CUSTOMER RIGHTS. FIRST YOU NEED YO PAY IF YOU PLACE AN ADD AND THEN IT TELLS YOU HOW LONG IS VALID FOR?! YOU MNAY BE BADLY SURPRISED WHEN YOU FIND OUT THAT THE ADD IS VALID FOR 3 WEEKS ONLY AND YOU HAVE PAID $100. HOWEVER FACEBOOK MARKETS ARE FOR FREE AND EVERYONE USING IT. I HAVE REPORTED THEM TO THE GOV!
Everything there, even something not on earth. My whole family love this site, we use it buy things, sometime its help, sometime we sell stuff on it, good job
Has really gone hill down the years. The fees are ridiculous and they do nothing to thwart false buyers and con artists. I bought something on there which I had no idea was not allowed to be sold on there. I resold it and was warned I could lose my account as it was an overseas DVD. Be nice if they stopped all those other sellers selling illegal DVDs which I have reported but they kept reposting them. The site is full of overseas sellers which should not be fair. (Swear it was for NZ only sellers only years ago but must be wrong). Trademe should be unique as trademe, not another sort of eBay.
Then there are the "message boards" which are full of people who love to bully and harass other people. They gang up on others and act childish and play mind games and spam unnessary posts.
There are several bait messages and responses they use to get their sick thrills. The message board should not be around anymore except the help sections. I was also bullied myself and attacked by several people who like to hurt and find faults in other people. Asking for help is bound to get attacks. Most of the people on there are very proud, unfeeling and sadistic characters.
Held my money. Someone payed me using ping, and when i tried to transfer the money out of my account they held it because they didn't except my proof of id. They still need to pay my $800
I have now bought a super feature on trademe more than once and wondered why the property was not showing up on the 7 day rotator after paying $199? I called them and they said it has to wait to get into the rotator as wellington has a high demand and it has to wait for enough room to get onto the rotator. I was then also told my property would not be on for the full 7 days i had already paid for?... rather only the days left once it got onto the rotator?!@#$%^&*! Really trademe that is the biggest rip off... i am shocked and so dissappointed - this is clearly not giving me what i have paid for which is 7 days on a rotator marketing my property - i may be really unlucky and not even get one day and have paid for 7 days of marketing. The sooner someone gets a competitive website i am moving on shame on you trademe shame on fairfax! The fees full stop these days are a rip off shame on u fairfax I dont bother advertising anything anymore for $1 reserve as the fees are just not worth it. So its off to the tip recycling shop. You need to think about the whole picture fairfax and also get some telephone staff who are a little less casual... spend some of your trillions on training
Answer: Trade Me is a thoroughly unethical business and is a disgrace to NZ. Beware if you have a problem. They don't care!
Answer: Your only options are deal with the seller, and if they do not budge - then the disputes tribunal. TradeMe is only there to collect revenue from the trades - it does nothing if it all goes wrong.
