TopResume

The two resumes I received from TopResume have resulted in zero interviews. They cut out ALL my technical experience saying it wasn't necessary. But I'm in IT... The first writer assigned to me new absolutely zero about my field. She actually falsified experience I don't have while removing what I do have. The second writer did a better job but he still didn't seem to know a lot about my field and the end result shows that.

On 7/3 I went back to using my old resume, the one TopResume said was awful. I submitted five applications that day. As of this morning, 7/6, I have completed one interview and have three more scheduled. That's 4 out of 5 when TopResume netted me 0/74. Don't waste your money!

TopResume gives exactly what they promise: an opportunity to upload pertinent documents to help the resume writer, a 48-hour turnaround on the initial draft (if you buy the premium package); interaction with the writer (Barbara was my writer, and she did an excellent job!), and subsequent drafts to meet my satisfaction. I also was in for a LinkedIn page makeover.

Overall, a great rewrite, up to date for all scanning and posting and job site purposes (key words maximized) that summed up and promoted what I have done and can do. Such a confidence-builder as well!

And they offered a Thanksgiving weekend discount price, to boot--which I happily took advantage of.

After spending my time filling out an extensive questionnaire, the draft sent to me was nothing more than a re-formatting of my original resume that contained none of the information I had provided. I tried to contact them numerous times but was sent a notice that the draft was final. After that, no contact. So I instructed my bank not to release the final payment and immediately I received an aggressive email telling me that I had one week to pay. This company is a joke - do not use them.

So I had my resume looked at and found that I'm generally 22% of a match of my jobs. I decided to go with TopResume. In 24-48 hours of submitting the forms I had my rough draft that after asking the writer to change something that I though was redundant and the addition of my linkedin profile it was complete. The only reason I do not want to give 5 stars is that I'm not sure if this has made a difference in my searches yet. So far I haven't gotten more responses but I had the final draft on the Friday before a holiday weekend and it's Tuesday afternoon now

I had a resume with several different job titles and geared towards many directions. The TopResume expert took my information and provided me with an easy to read goal oriented resume which any hiring manager could quickly read and determine my qualifications for the job. I also purchased the LinkedIn and phone call. The TopResume expert provided me with easy to build LinkedIn profile and by the time we had our phone call, there was not much to discuss. Great experience! I would recommend TopResume to anyone that wants to get their resume cleaned up and polished for their future job.

My writer, Gretchen, couldn't have been more professional. She worked with me to ensure her revisions were an accurate reflection of who I am as a professional. I questioned many of her suggestions, but she politely explained why she was making those changes. Her patience in working with me should be commended, because I know I tested it.;)

Terrible - I went for the Executive Package because I really wanted something that would help me stand out both on paper and online. Somehow, they have excellent reviews linked to their website showing them as 5 Stars many of which I read before deciding... but based on my experience this simply can't be true.

All they did was take my existing resume and put it in a nice template. The cover letter was boring and didn't profile my skills at all. I myself was bored after the first and it was ME I was reading about, I can only imagine what a hiring manager would think.

I told them I was not interested in them recreating my LinkedIn profile, and asked that they only charge me for the lower package since I wouldn't be using the rest of their services. They responded within minutes with a form letter type rejection stating "no discounts, no refunds" - apparently they have this written and ready to go for what I can only guess would be a ton of unhappy customer emails.

Actually I did contract the services from TopResume and I am extremely disappointed. First of all, it was almost exactly like my current resume. Except theirs had typos! They also claim to offer a new Linkedin profile. However all they offer is tips and techniques to improve your profile which is already available on-line at no cost. I attempted to voice my concerns but were met simply defending their services with virtually no consideration to make it right. I can not recommend this service and I would strongly encourage you to look elsewhere for this service.

I hired Topresume to redo my resume as I wasn't getting many hits. They offer a review of your resume on Glassdoor and Indeed, which I thought looked promising. After promptly paying my $ 149, I waited about 2 weeks for anything back. I finally received a resume that looked completely ridiculous, and the way the words were placed was almost unreadable. I communicated with my "pro writer" over email (no phone number to contact) and again heard nothing back for a week...
***Update, while I would not use this service or company again and am seeking a better alternative. Emily was able to refund 60% of my funds. I felt this was fair, as I did use a small portion to tweak my own rendition f my resume. I would still suggest finding another company as the writers hear are just not that good.

I so wish I had done deeper research before paying this company. I had many of the same experiences that others cite. They claim they will match you with a writer from your industry. NOT TRUE. My writer obviously knew nothing about my industry, omitting my experience working for the biggest retailer in the world. The goal I made clear in wanting my resume rewritten was completely ignored - they obviously were not skilled enough to do what I requested. Writer was obviously not a native English speaker. What I received is completely unusable. It appears that the writers are given a crash course in resume formatting and a list of buzz-words. They are in NO WAY professionals. I don't blame the writers - I think they are people who just need a job and are being exploited by the unscrupulous owners of this company.

I sent in my self-written resume and it was, like most, not at all tuned to how the new word-scanning programs needed it to be. The writer assigned to me was at first quite responsive and turned out my first draft is short order. Then, the "happy" feeling started to subside. In several attempts to contact her/him, my emails went without answer. I sent an email to TopResume expressing my concerns, and didn't get a response back until 2 days had passed and the expiration of their agreed-upon finish date was at hand. Finally, I heard from the resume writer, announcing she/he had been sick and was planning to get back on my re-write. After a couple of days, I had my re-write. In those cases where I was promised a finished product, it was a couple days after that before I received anything. Maybe it was just a luck of the draw, but I think, for what I spent to have my resume cleaned up, I could have gotten a little bit better response.

I did not know what to expect from an online resume writing service but knew I needed a fresh approach. Their free resume critique was thorough and provided meaningful feedback - especially valuable was the summary that is produced by the screening from the filtering software companies use. Based on that, I took the next step and bought a resume/cover letter rewrite.

It was as simple as uploading my current documents, providing some answers to basic questions, and giving them a link to jobs similar to what I was targeting. A few days later, the first draft was back and it was great. My new resume sends exactly the message I was trying to convey.

Look - sometimes you need help from an objective outsider. It's hard to distill things down to the essential elements when you know everything about your own job history and want to communicate everything under the sun.
