I have ordered 20 books so far. Extremely happy. Really good for finding older out of print books. And even some newer books at a great price. Stop complaing you're buying used books they're not going to be perfect.
Prices are no better than if I had bought at amazon or target. Shipping was extremely careless. Items are not as described on the site. Products that should have been in new condition are all damaged. They try to switch and bait people (offer new book-send an old book) hoping they won't pay out of pocket to sent back. Do yourself a favor and go to a reputable store with good shipping and return policies or you'll just be wasting time and money shipping these guys their damaged products back.
I ordered a Randall the Reindeer book that was to include the reindeer and naughty and nice list. I basically just wanted the reindeer as my grandson, 6 lost his when the pipes burst in our home last winter.
All that arrived, after nearly a week, even though i paid an extra $14 to have expedited service was the book.
Having a difficult time getting any answers as to why all of the false promises.
I would not recommend this company to anyone.
Wish it would allow only giving one star. Stay far far away. There are so many honest companies to deal with. Too bad no one else had my product.
Paid $16.84 for a book that was given a "very good" for its condition. Every page is scribbled on with a pen. I honestly believe Thriftbooks paid someone to go through it and mark each page to look like it had been read. There are even underline marks in spaces, not underlining a single typed word! These marks have made reading this devotion very distracting and not enjoyable at all.
Be sure to read ALL the return/refund policy. It"s posted in two parts with a lot of double talk and fine print. I had to chuckle reading it and realized I trusted the reviews it has on it"s website. All other review sites have very low customer satisfaction ratings for Thrift Books. I ordered a book that came damaged and poorly bound. I returned the book and was never given a refund and they refuse to own up to lousy product. I'm just glad I only spent $21.00. Gonna stick to Amazon books!
First off, books can be as cheap as $2.00. While the same book ranges from $15-20 on another site. The books look brand new. Especially the library copies with the laminated cover over the book. I always take them off and its in perfect condition. The only mark is the library stamp on the inside. No biggie. Also, free shipping?! And it's speedy at that. It took exactly 4 days for my first package and I got the second one the next day. And if you buy a bunch of books from the same warehouse you get an additional 50 cents off each book. Definitely a good site to shop!
Thriftbooks offers books at reasonable prices but has a strange return policy. Books that have never been used whatsoever have no eligibility for return. When I spoke to an associate. He informed me that even if a book was completely untouched with no flaws but no longer needed, it is not eligible for return. Only purchases with an actual issue are returnable. I guess, tear or damage your book when you get it and maybe you'll see your money back lol.
Bought my daughter a school book. 30 pages were missing. Several pages that were in the book had pictures cut out of them. Bad customer support. Website says 100% guarantee, but that's not true. They did nothing to rectify the situation. Shipping was also bad. Took a lot longer to receive the book than they said. Be careful. Never order a book from this company. Had to pick a rating to submit review. Picked the lowest I was permitted which was one star. I would give Thrift books a negative star if I could.
I have recently discovered that the same thrift books I have been ordering off of Amazon I can get directly now from the supplier. Their free shipping rate is easy to achieve, the books are in the condition, or better, than they advertised and they come in a very timely manner. After 4 orders of 4+ books each, I've been nothing but pleased! Keep up the good work Thriftbooks employees!
I order books on a regular basis from Thrift Books and am always pleased with the excellent shape they're in, even if only rated "good" condition. Books are shipped right away; I appreciate getting them so quickly. I bought a lot of used books from Amazon until I came across Thrift books and found they not only cost less than Amazon but show up in better condition. The last used book I bought from Amazon had mildew on every page. Gross! I received a refund but should never have been shipped a book in that condition. I don't have to worry about that with Thrift Books.
Do not purchase books that are consumable that are supposedly in "good" condition which you are told have some highlighting and writing. I received two that were supposedly good condition which had writing throughout which defeats the purpose of using them for my own study. One of the books had a price sticker on it for $1.50 yet I paid $5+ and got "free' shipping. What a deal!
I use thriftbooks to buy books all the time. My books have always arrived in great condition, mind you i always purchase the cheapest condition. Ive been using this company for years and will continue doing so. Also delivery is with a week... for me at least.
My first time ordering from them my 1 book took over a month to arrive & when it did it was the wrong book. I am currently again waiting on an order that has not arrived & it's been over a month. Their tracking numbers for their packages show nothing on the usps website. Just seems shady & untrustworthy to me at this point. Will be looking for my books elsewhere.
Others seem to talk about misgrading books they have ordered.
So far I have bought around five books and all were in the condition
Described or even slightly better. Prices and shipping are reasonable.
Until I have a bad experience I will continue to choose them over other
Book sellers.
I never learn my lesson. Literally throwing this away and ordering on Amazon. I have my settings so they don't send me an old library book with a plastic cover … I cringe touching. And they still always do. Never again.
I hate hate hate when they send me some old library book with a plastic cover and a Dewey Decimal System tag on the binding. HUGE and bulky. Hate! And it happens so much that I'm not ordering from them again.
Selected, bought and paid for a book by Brian Shul. Actually received a crappy cardboard calendar dated 1997. Threatened legal action, they have promised a refund - if this is not forthcoming immediately l will sue. This company is a fraudulent scam, never ever deal with them! Unfortunately l cannot give a zero star rating- would give a minus score if l could.
When my local library shut down, I thought I'd go crazy not being able to read during the pandemic. I luckily found this site and have ordered multiple times. Everything has been exactly as ordered, and shipping was pretty quick. I'll continue to keep ordering since I love to read, and am totally happy with the books and service.
This seems to be a scam they're running, I am not the first one to order a book and end up being delivered a different book, have seen these reviews after what happened to me or would have never ordered, will never order from them again.
Like others, I wished I read the bad reviews first. I've had good experiences the handful of times I got a book on eBay. I thought it would be the same here. I bought a book rated "like new." That classification clearly states there are to be no markings of any kind in the book. I open it up and this is the first thing I see! Clearly false advertising. Just scummy. It's not a bad book, but like others have said, be honest. NOT the site for you if you are particular. Or like doing business on a handshake.
I just bought a book that was supposed to be in Like New condition. What I received is Good at best. I am extremely disappointed and a fool for giving them a second chance, for this isn't the first time it happened. I will no longer order from them.
Answer: It sounds like a question you need to ask them directly.
Answer: You should think twice before paying international postal rates and customs fees for used books.
Answer: When this happens, just tell them and they'll give you a refund. Books are sent via USPS, so good luck with a tracking number. Very occasionally they will lose a shipment, and this is not Thriftbooks' fault.
Answer: Library Binding is a term used for books that are in large print.
Answer: I donate my books to the library for their book sale
Answer: I ordered through the ThriftBooks website. They send me an order confirmation email. Then they send me shipping confirmation email with tracking. Shipping confirmation emails may be sent separately for each book if they come from different locations. If you keep track of the emails, you know exactly what the situation is for your order. I have ordered over 30 books, have check on the status often, and had no problems. I'm not sure what happens if you don't have email, but is that a possibility in this day and age? If you ordered by phone, I'm not sure why you didn't call them for the status.
Answer: They do not accept checks or money orders. You need to use credit, debit (cards), or PayPal.
ThriftBooks has a rating of 2 stars from 375 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with ThriftBooks most frequently mention customer service, good condition and dust jacket. ThriftBooks ranks 38th among Used Books sites.
