Only books listed as very good condition were purchased. Pages were marked, worn, and only acceptable condition. Part of my order is missing with no resolution from customer service. No refund, no books.
Delivery took place through community mailbox, not door to door as expected. Still effective! Changed rating.
Thrift Book continues to grossly misrepresent the condition of their books, and this problem has increased considerably over the past 4 years. And further, when one tries to contact ThriftBooks about rectifying their error, it takes at least 20 min., if at all possible, of being shunted around the internet to register a complaint. Bottom line: do not buy from this company.
Over several years I have bought books from Thriftbooks. Their service was okay but their descriptions were usually better than the books purchased. The last book, and this will be the last, a hardback listed as good. When I received the book the back cover was off of it and the spine only holding by the front. I contacted Thriftbooks for a replacement or refund. I was directed to send the book back for a refund only they neglected to tell me they will not refund my money for return shipping. What a rip.
Paid $16.84 for a book that was given a "very good" for its condition. Every page is scribbled on with a pen. I honestly believe Thriftbooks paid someone to go through it and mark each page to look like it had been read. There are even underline marks in spaces, not underlining a single typed word! These marks have made reading this devotion very distracting and not enjoyable at all.
The worse book condition of my life. Buy like new arrived totally damaged! Never more
Books are consistently misrepresented as in a better condition than what they arrive in. Customer service team does not respond, they just refund or replace with yet another damaged book. Getting a refund is required, so I'm not giving any more than 1 star for doing what they SHOULD do. But FCC needs to know about the false advertising of these filthy, damaged books.
They sent the correct items ordered in the condition I paid for, the books were like NEW! One book started having pages come lose. I read the FINE print and it said ONCE THEY'VE SHIPPED IT, unless THEY send the incorrect item purchased, they do not HAVE TO refund or exchange it. So I was expecting them to not do anything! But I have a brain injury that impairs my coordination so the pages coming out was making it very difficult to hold and read. I was expecting to have to give them a bad review, but in 1 or 2 days they got back to me and a new one is on the way!
I AM VERY HAPPY w the thriftbooks.com company/service!
I bought a book for Thift Books on 3/9/23 at 3.38 pm. I even pd for it to get to me in 6 days. This was time enough for me nephew's birthday party. Iit is now 2/18 /23. I still do not have the book. I contacted the company a numerous times. They went ahead and refunded my money. I think they did this because they knew they messed up and did not ship it right. You can not buy this book brand new. You can only find it at used book stores. It was a really frustrating to me that this company did not even care that they messed up so bad. They did not even apologize or anything.they lost a good customer. I will not do business with them again
I ordered 4 books that were supposed to be in one package. The first time I got one book out of 4. I contacted them and they said they would mail the remaining free of charge. Today I only got two of the 3. I'm very livid and am planning not to buy anymore very dishonest company.
I have been ordering paperbacks (usually romantic suspense books) from ThriftBooks for several years, usually averaging 3 books per order, once a month or so. I have always been very happy with the company. ThriftBooks offers a wide selection, and a good and accurate rating of each book's condition. ThriftBooks shipping has always been at a reasonable cost, and every one of my orders has arrived in a timely manner, just as promised. I also appreciate the ThriftBooks reward of a free book after purchase of several books.
[Unable to take photo of past orders for Proof of Purchase, but my recent orders include ******* and *******.]
Thriftbooks has absolutely satisfied me completely... Anyone complaining about this company is really strange... The prices are low the service is fast... Everything arrives in good condition and I've never had to return anything...
I have not been happy with purchases from Thrift Books. I agree with others: they do not accurately describe the condition of the books. The last one was described as good and was marred by yellow and red marker on full pages, page after page.
I have a problem with a lot of the negative reviews I've read here. These are used book folks! If you are expecting a brand new, blemish free book, then buy one on amazon or better yet go to a private bookstore. I have bought dozens of books from Thriftbooks and they have all been acceptable, some looking fairly new. I buy these books to read not as a collector.
I love this company but this time whenever I received my book that I'm using for school two pages were missing.
Be sure to read ALL the return/refund policy. It"s posted in two parts with a lot of double talk and fine print. I had to chuckle reading it and realized I trusted the reviews it has on it"s website. All other review sites have very low customer satisfaction ratings for Thrift Books. I ordered a book that came damaged and poorly bound. I returned the book and was never given a refund and they refuse to own up to lousy product. I'm just glad I only spent $21.00. Gonna stick to Amazon books!
Like others, I wished I read the bad reviews first. I've had good experiences the handful of times I got a book on eBay. I thought it would be the same here. I bought a book rated "like new." That classification clearly states there are to be no markings of any kind in the book. I open it up and this is the first thing I see! Clearly false advertising. Just scummy. It's not a bad book, but like others have said, be honest. NOT the site for you if you are particular. Or like doing business on a handshake.
I have been purchasing books from them for several years. I am extremely pleased with my purchases and the quick service. I will continue to order from them.
I really love this website because they have all my favourite books for super cheap BUT im in Australia and the postage is INSANELY expensive its not even worth purchasing. You can have it cheap and all but the post just makes up for letting the books be cheap. Please make the international shipping cheaper! Im dying to read Warriors!
This is an amazing company. The variety of titles and authors are excellent. The price of books are extremely reasonable and the books despite being "used" are in superb condition. The books arrive well packaged and in a very timely manner. Love this company and will order again.
Answer: It sounds like a question you need to ask them directly.
Answer: You should think twice before paying international postal rates and customs fees for used books.
Answer: When this happens, just tell them and they'll give you a refund. Books are sent via USPS, so good luck with a tracking number. Very occasionally they will lose a shipment, and this is not Thriftbooks' fault.
Answer: Library Binding is a term used for books that are in large print.
Answer: I donate my books to the library for their book sale
Answer: I ordered through the ThriftBooks website. They send me an order confirmation email. Then they send me shipping confirmation email with tracking. Shipping confirmation emails may be sent separately for each book if they come from different locations. If you keep track of the emails, you know exactly what the situation is for your order. I have ordered over 30 books, have check on the status often, and had no problems. I'm not sure what happens if you don't have email, but is that a possibility in this day and age? If you ordered by phone, I'm not sure why you didn't call them for the status.
Answer: They do not accept checks or money orders. You need to use credit, debit (cards), or PayPal.
