I filed both a provisional application and a non-provisional application with Thoughts to paper. They were very helpful. I am satisfied with the review process. Many times I needed to do changes as a result of me reviewing the specs and claims again, and they were happy to help.
I would say the people at Thoughts to Paper are very good. It is a difficult task to interpret ideas of others and get a printout & info into a format that could lead to a patent. So if you are a Rookie, give this group a chance & I'm sure they will help out.
They were great. They assisted in reviewing both the text and the figures. Their suggested changes and corrections were very helpful and they moved things along very quickly. Needless to say, I am very pleased.
I was very hesitant to submit my first patent. Thoughts to Paper made it very easy and got me to the finish line!
Take some time but the final results was great.
Absolutely I will make more work in the future with thoughts to paper.

Couldn't be happier! Ryan and the whole group were easy to work with and very understanding. Made my first experience easy
Thoughts to Paper did an excellent job on my provisional patent application. Jay was a great communicator and the team did great work transforming my idea into an actual patent. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to file a patent! Looking forward to working with them again in the future.
My service with Thoughts to Paper was wonderful. I had a great team of guys who walked me thru the whole process step by step. They were very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions that I had on the Provisional Utility Patent that I was applying for, so I could understand. They made me feel very comfortable about what I was doing and will be moving forward in the next 12 months with the Non-provisional Patent application. Thank You!
This is my second time working with Thoughts to Paper, they filed both my provisional utility patent and non-provisional patent, and made it a very smooth and easy process for me to follow, will definitely consider working with them in the future for any new inventions
They were professional every step of the way in expediting an unencumbered process towards my provisional patent. I would recommend Thoughts To Paper to everyone!
Thoughts to Paper have been exceptionally professional in their work and reaching timelines. We connected with them in 2017 when they did a prior art search for our product and eventually filled a provisional patent application in April 2019. We then got together in December of 2019 to pursue our patent application making it non-provisional. In just 2 months their patent experts communicated with us, wrote the preliminary drafts, made excellent diagrams and have submitted our provisional application. It was a great experience.
I highly recommend Thoughts to Paper for any type of patent work. They were extremely helpful throughout the process. Especially Ryan Iffland who helped me every step of the way.
I was just blown away by Thoughts to Paper's ability to take a concept, develop it, and execute it with such clarity, skill, and professionalism. I felt like I was Bill Gates or somebody famous. Every member of their team gave me unprecedented attention, time and they totally got it! They listened to every word and concept I was trying to convey, laid everything out, and got me through the application process in an unbelievably short amount of time. Thank you Tony, Tien, and JaeYoung. You guys rock!
Thoughts To Paper took my ideas from start to finish in all aspects of the Patent Process. Conversations were always conducted on an uncomplicated, easy-to-understand level; questions back and forth were both encouraged and welcome on both sides to achieve a good understanding of my concepts, and to enhance my understanding of a previously unknown area of administrative actions in the Patent Process. Their fees were far below that of conventional Patent Attorneys I've spoken with before contacting TtP. I was able to secure all of my concepts and attain a patent for less than a Patent Attorney would charge for the very first step in the process.
Terrific staff. I enjoyed working with Ryan on patent search and filing documents for PPA. Aidan did an excellent job on patent writing and drawings. I was very impressed. I highly recommend Thoughts to Paper. Will definitely be keeping in touch.
Great company. Very detailed oriented. Ovell all good job.On time delivers. Very knowledgeable. Frendly staff.
From the moment I contacted them they handled everything that I needed with no issues and the things that I did not understand it took the time to explain to me in a different way he kind of broke it down which is nice so I give them all the stars because I think he was very professional he kept up with everything and he's still keeping up with everything so I would recommend this company to enemy and everyone I think they are excellent and my guy was Ryan
The search process was great and the patent write-up was better than I was expecting. I will use again.
I had originally began by allowing another company to submit my first provisional patent. Disturbingly, that company, part of an Invention Home package, closed their doors and left me hangin' with no-one to follow through with my non-provisional application. I interviewed three companies to pick up t6hat dropped ball. I liked the way everyone spoke with me. Mostly Tien Le at the front door and Upul, who took the reigns over my project. Time was stacked against them. Yet, they accomplished what normally requires two to three months in 4 weeks. My application is impressive. And so has been everyone's attitude and etiquette all the way from day 1 until the actual filing. I'm glad to've met everyone here, for the opportunity to choose them, and for the importance they placed upon my project. I have nothing but good to say about this company because of the people who have taken such good care of this project for my son and me.

Answer: You should apply for a patent application first. This secures your place in line with the US Patent Office so you can tell the company you pitch to that your product is "patent pending". This way, if that company steals your idea and files a patent of their own, they will be second in line after you, since you applied for the patent application first. A provisional patent application only lasts for 12 months though, and it must be converted to a non-provisional patent app before the 12 month expires, to keep the protection. However, this route of the provisional patent app, at least gives you 12 months to test the waters before you need to decide to commit to a full more expensive non-provisional app. Give us a call during normal business hours and we'll be happy to answer any further questions or get you started.
Answer: Roberto, yes, you could file a provisional application first and get 12 months to figure more details out. However, keep in mind that the provisional application can only protect what you include in the application, the information you have already figured out. For example, if you only have a basic idea and the details are unknown, you could file the provisional application for just the idea without the details yet. However, those details would not be protected in the application because they are not disclosed in the application. Put more simply, you can only protect what you know and put into the provisional application. What this means is, lets say you file the provisional application then 2 months later you figure out some critical details of your invention. You must be careful about disclosing those details you figured out 2 months after filing the provisional application. Because those details were not included in the provisional application, they are not protected yet. We would add those details when you convert the provisional application into a non-provisional application and only then, would those details be protected. We offer a professional level service for the provisional patent application which allows you to chat with one of our engineers. We can help you figure out a bit more detail than you may have so that you file a provisional application with as much detail as we can figure out at this time. This ensures that your provisional application covers as much as we can. Any additional details you figure out later, well put it into the non-provisional patent application when you decide to file that application, prior to the expiration of your provisional application. Hope that helps! Give us a ring during normal business hours and well be happy to help!
