I ordered Star Wars lightsaber chopsticks light up on thinkgeek.
The next day I ordered the item, I got an email that new stock has not arrived and they have decided instead to discontinue the product. So I had to find the same item somewhere else (I wanted to get the item for Christmas gift), and I did.
However, the day after, I got another email that my order has been shipped.
So I asked for refund because they made me confuse and I no longer need the item.
First I emailed them, and Joshua emailed me back saying that they cannot give me refund unless I send the item back to them. I replied him and explained my situation again, but no reply (what's up with 48 hours response?).
So I chatted with a representative (Naja).
I explained my situation, but Naja did not reply. I was waiting for 5-10 minutes, but did not get any response. THERE WAS NO POINT CHATTING.
So I disconnected the chat and reconnected with other representative (Rachael). I explained my situation, but all she said was they cannot bill my refund until I send the item back, and they won't refund the money for shipping. I told her that you guys should have asked me if I still wanted the item before shipping since I was told that the item was out of order.
And she said she can refund my money including shipping for only this time.
I did not get any confirmation email or whatsoever from thinkgeek.
I am not sure if I will really get my money back or not.
If there is any issue with an order, you never be happy with their customer service.

I just would like to summarize the situation we faced with Thingeek:

3 orders refused by their system TimmyBot9000 every time after 5/6 hours (very fast system isn't it?), the first done on last Friday with a prepaid card. Money disappear and not yet went back. 3 different version given about the reason why orders were stopped according to whom I was talking or writing to (Phone number to customer care, mail from customer care, social Fan Page)
1)IP not located in the town of the credit card (bwahahahahah)
2) shipment address different than invoice address (not possible to send a gift?)
3) credit card address different than billing address (but I have verified with my bank twice).

Just a mess. More than 900 dollars went "banana" (my bank told me I have to wait even 20 days), 3 different explanation, no indication on how to solve the problem. Very "Thik Geek... act medieval"

"Exclusive" Zelda Watch
November 6, 2015

Spent $40 bucks on a watch that ended up looking like I bought it from a gas station for $8. Black face numbers came off when I removed the protective sticker. Everyone else that made the purchase is saying the same thing happened. Thinkgeek is terrible. Con Artists peddling overpriced garbage to fans thinking they're getting the real deal. On top of all this, their return policy is whack. It takes forever and I'll end up losing 15% of my refund to pay for the return. I'm not gonna bother getting my money back but people should know how crappy Thinkgeek truly is. I WILL NEVER visit Thinkgeek.com again and urge you to do the same.

Cube warfare
October 29, 2015

Office life can get redundant, so we like to play pranks on each other sometimes to spice things up. Think Geek has a great "cube warfare" category with a lot of fun office prank stuff. I have the coolest tesla watch from this site. Check them out.

Great website
October 14, 2015

I just discovered SiteJabber, and thought it would be a good resource, but some of these reviews are way off. I have ordered from Thinkgeek about 5 times, and it has been a great experience. You cant beat their geeky selection. I called about a defective item about 3 months after receiving it, and the sent me a new one, no questions ask. Outstanding.
As for the Sitejabber reviews (in all), very questionable.

So in May I order a couple sweet looking Star Wars seat covers. They arrive within the estimated shipping time. Great. Open them up and see a warning on the side of the box that they may cause birth defects, cancer and/or reproductive harm. Uhhmm what? Naturally I get concerned and ask them if they know what about the seat covers is the warning for? (Is it a chemical residue from the factory that will subdue if I were to air them out etc) They replied within a few days to tell me they have to get in touch with the factory to find out and to wait a few weeks for the reply. I kept them in the box they were shipped in in my living room taking up space. Months go by, nothing... So I get fed up and return them, however since I am in Canada the shipping it back was all on me. I paid another $40 to ship it back to them. It cost me $42 something to buy them in the first place so I asked if my refund would include the cost I had to pay to send it back since it was almost the same amount I originally paid just to get rid of these poor quality seat covers(which didn't even fit!). I get an email back saying normally they don't refund shipping costs but they'll make the exception this one time and that she was sending a check by mail. Cool, totally happy again. Nearly 3 months go by, I almost forget about it, and still nothing so I email back asking someone to look into it. I get the same useless chick again(Leslie) apologizing profusely, telling me she had a series of "misunderstandings" and that their policy doesn't allow her to refund the money and that the best they could do would be refunding the original shipping I paid on the order($7 USD) and a gift certificate for $20. I was flat out lied to by this customer service woman and she was just hoping I would forget and this wouldn't come up again. I told her not to bother and that I wouldn't buy another thing from their website even if it was free. Long story short, don't waste your money!

Love ThinkGeek!
June 25, 2015

Great webiste; great assistance!
I admit; i was skeptical at first due to all the bad reviews i've seen
Having had gone through a purchase that went swimmingly well (except for a cracked sword which is being replaced free of charge), I can honestly say i would recommend and send again. Love ThinkGeek! They had great customer service, and great prices. 10/10 would use.

Placed a large order 11/28/14. When I inquired about its lack of shipping status 12/6/14, I was contacted on 12/13/14 and told the shipper had a problem (UPS shows the tracking number was generated, but no package ever entered their system) and they would reship the order, less all the items they had since sold out of. On 12/15/14 I get an automated reply that even more items cannot be shiped as they are sold out. The original order was for $205, they refund $106 and ship $81 worth of merchandise. ($18 mysteriously disappears). I ask for the remainder of my money back. On 12/31/14 I give them notice that they have 48 hours to respond (THEIR policy) or I will file a dispute with my credit card company. No response. On 2/3/15 i receive this reply:: Hello Mark.

First, I would like to apologize for the extended delay in responding to your inquiry. We have been horribly backlogged with emails and we are working tirelessly to get to every customer, which is taking some time. We certainly acknowledge that the wait time for a response from us has been severely delayed due to the overwhelming back log we have been dealing with, and for that we sincerely apologize.

I am very sorry to hear that you have filed a dispute with your bank regarding the refund of this order, as it all could have been taken care of with no further action needed in that regard. Unfortunately, since the dispute has already been filed, you will no longer be able to order from ThinkGeek.com.

We are very sad to see you go in this way, as you have been a very valued customer with us for such a long time. We would have been more than happy to provide you with a positive resolution on this issue, and it is to your detriment that we were not able to provide that in a timely manner.

Despite the less than pleasant experience you have had with us over this issue, I hope you have an otherwise good day.

Jasmine S | Customer Service Supervisor"

THAT is how ThinkGeek operates. They mess up, and I am banned from ever ordering again. (Not that I would.)

If you're planning to purchase stuff from ThinkGeek, well think again this site is quite expensive to Canadian consumers like shipping rates are through the roof as I purchase some goods from this site and it was going to cost less than the prices says from their site. However, the shipping cost comes in, making the total much higher than what I expected. Unless you have time and money to spend your hard earn cash you might enjoy the things from this site but needless to say I wouldn't like spending my cash on shipping than the actual goods.

Another thing the service that I wanted to know about my tracking number for the items being shipped here doesn't have tracking numbers for the low cost shipping. So, it might take awhile if you're living somewhere fairly northern. I still can't deal with the customer service saying well... "deal with it" when I'm trying to figure out where it's going.

I used to love ThinkGeek
January 29, 2015

I used to love ThinkGeek. I've used them for years without issue, but this holiday season they totally screwed up. I ordered three things as Christmas gifts from them. Two arrived fine and the third had the wrong item. I had ordered a board game but received a ladies tee. I tried calling their "24/7" customer service, but after 45 minutes of holding (listening to the same song with no updates on time to a representative) I hung up and decided to email them. I got an email reply saying appx 24-48 hours to reply to emails, but 5 days later, I heard nothing. I sent another email explaining this issue and lack of response, and still nothing. Since I was travelling, I didn't have a computer that I could wait "45" minutes on for online support. At work yesterday, I started the live chat after lunch. After 3 hours, yes three hours, I had gone from 114 to 38 in the queue. What?! I'm trying again this morning for the live online chat, and so far, after and hour, I've gone from 68 to 45. FOUR hours later finally get to chat with someone and given no compensation or explanation for the crappy/nonexistent service. Got money refunded. I will never purchase from thinkgeek again. Non-existent customer service.

Returned the item
January 14, 2015

Returned the item. It took them very very long to process the return. Then they tell you you should see the refund within 2 days. Its been 6 days and i saw nothing on my card. You can email them all you want, they will not reply you. If you try calling you will be on hold forever (after 30 minutes i give up). If you try chatting online, you will wait for over an hour. Finally, i am forced to file a claim on Paypal, and Paypal helped me get my money back in an instant (with all the evidence I have against them). Thinkgeek customer service is non existent. Return is a nightmare. Would not buy anything from them again.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Returns are a nightmare. Past orders do not appear in my account so I cannot do a return online using their process for an RA#. To resolve a recent return I sent 4 emails, a week apart, got the standard response stating would probably hear back within 48 hours. 7 days later, still no response. Starting calling and each time was put on hold from 32 minutes to 50 minutes. Today after 64 minutes I was finally able to speak with a customer service person and at least let her know what I needed and why. In the past 18 months I have not been able to complete an order without some kind of issue. Never again! Many other websites selling what they sell. I always give good reviews when service is good and people try to make things right.

I have ordered through Thinkgeek a few times before with no problem! I loved the website. But when I ordered a present on Cyber Monday, I got an email saying it shipped, but never received my package. When I tried to call, I was placed on hold for over an hour and web chat had a waiting time of over a day. I hope Thinkgeek fixes their service soon.

Horrible customer service! I ordered a shirt on December 12th for a Christmas gift. I received an email stating it was "shipped" on December 18th. January 8th and the order was never shipped but "lost". I waited 3 HOURS to live chat with customer service. Looking at reviews online this is a VERY common problem with this company. The shirt is now out of stock. I got a $20 gift certificate. Why would I even want to order from this company again?

They messed up bad this Christmas season. Selling items that were out of stock. Then not shipping things at all. I ordered 2 things in November for Chistmas plenty of time to ship but when I realized my order was not coming at all even though they charged me it took forever for customer service to help. After the whole mess was done. One of my items was over ordered and I was not getting it. So I was refunded but out a Chistmas present I had checked off a month in advance! Now the monkeys over at think geek were good at appeasing me by promising a gift card after the holidays were over. Well they are over and I have yet to get that gift card even though I have since wrote to them asking about that promise. They are liars and have the worst customer service. I used to hear the best things about them. If they eventually come through with the promise I may try them again but be weary. UPDATED: After a few emails back and forth I have received the promised gift certificate. So I give them one more star and will also try the site one more time using the gift certificate. I would like to think this is a fluke incident and that ThinkGeek was not prepared for this holidays rush of orders. Like I said before I had always heard good things about the site before this holiday season.

I recently received my package from ThinkGeek, including a 10th Doctor (who) coat size Large. Sadly I found that I need it in Medium, so I contacted the live chat. I waited an hour or two (do to time zones) and then talked to a nice and polite woman. She was sorry to hear about the mistake and asked for my order number. She then asked if I wanted the Medium and set it all up, so now I just have to send the wrong one (Paying for the shipping myself, of course, I am the one who made the mistake) and then I will get the right one. Top notch service if you ask me. I have seen a lot of negative reviews about the costumer service, but I think people need to cut them some slack and remember that it's December, and they have a lot to do!

"Quite possibly the most horrible customer service experience in the history of ever. Created tracking numbers in my account history but never shipped the items. I called 10 days later to find this out and had to actually request a refund for the unshipped (and now unavailable) items! To make matters even worse, they refused to refund the proper amount after being on hold for over an hour and a half and then arguing for over 30 minutes with Jared, a supervisor of all things. To add further insult to injury, the so-called unavailable items are indeed available to purchase on eBay from this vendor for over three times the price I paid. Really? After all this you were lying about the availability to save a few bucks? Could you possibly have screwed this up any worse ThinkGeek? They'll be gone soon enough. Thanks for wasting hours of my life in the meantime!"
