I have ordered through Thinkgeek a few times before with no problem! I loved the website. But when I ordered a present on Cyber Monday, I got an email saying it shipped, but never received my package. When I tried to call, I was placed on hold for over an hour and web chat had a waiting time of over a day. I hope Thinkgeek fixes their service soon.
Ordered three separate orders, we are Military and posted over seas so we had the orders shipped to the base. The base will not accept COD's, which has never been a problem with any other shipments because the company has used the phone number or e-mail address to contact us and have us pay UPS.
Well not thinkgeek they had all packages returned to them. Once they receive the packages I will be refunded my money minus the cost of shipping to me, the cost of shipping it back to them and possibly any customs fees incurred.
What is the point of providing contact information if the company cannot be bothered to contact you and give you the opportunity to solve the problem.
Thank you for ruining our Christmas those were the only presents that I had ordered for my husband and now he has nothing under the tree.
There are so many pros to this website it's ridiculous, I love the things they have here and everything came safe and sound... but my only problem is the shipping. I'm about to place another order because I loved the first one... but I can't get it sent to my house. For a $90 we're looking at about $70? If I didn't live right next to the border I'd never order from here again. I don't understand why it costs 80% of the total price of the order to get it shipped to Canada. If I do order again, I won't use DHL. DHL is the absolute worst. I'd rather pay the extra $10 and get it sent with USPS.
I love Thinkgeek's products. They make great gifts that is why I'm giving them 2 stars. Unfortunately, customer service isn't really helpful for anything.
You get loyalty points from buying but they reset them every year preventing you to buy anything worth the shipping.
They only use UPS for shipping and they always deliver around the same hours to your house. Even though you ask or tell them you won't be there and ask for morning instead. It took me a week of chatting, calling and poking around their customer service to finally get my package since they keep on delivering on my working hours. When finally they tried to deliver the package when I was home they didn't knocked at the door nor ring. It was a nigthmars to find the time to try get it solved. I was trying to find a solution with UPS since July 9th and I finally get to talk to a manager that made it delivered to my work today July 18th.
Cost me a full day off work for nothing, two morning late at work and customs charges almost as big as my order: 71 $ on a package of 112 $ and 67 $ on one of 90 $.
Troubles not worth the products.
I love the stuff on this site, the site iteself is awesome too; the one thing I have an issue with (but I've only ordered once from them, so maybe it was a fluke) is that the delivery was sooo slow! And it wasn't that the delivery METHOD was necessarily slow, it honestly took more than a week from me placing my order (a zombie plush doll, a pacifier, a pack of post it notes, and a multitool; nothing super heavy, large, or labor intensive to pack!) to when they shipped it! Over three weeks from placing order to receiving items! Plus, shipping was $6 for a $20 purchase; really, 30%? REALLY?! I'm not going to be so quick to order from them again, but the stuff is pretty cool. I guess next year I'll order the day after Thanksgiving and maybe I'll get it in time for Christmas.
Love shopping for gift ideas here but always reach the checkout and am shocked and end up putting half the stuff back. Best to limit to a single cool item and do bulk of shopping at a regular retailer.
Just spent about 15 minutes and decided to buy something. That doesn't happen that often. The product descriptions are Hilarious! Great product pictures too.
Probably nothing you would really need, but certainly fun and easy layout with quirky things you could use as gifts
I've been a customer of ThinkGeek for a LONG time, and regularly go back to them for Christmas gifts for those hard-to-buy-for (usually male) people. Where else could I buy a cake tin in the shape of a dragon sleeping on a clutch of eggs? Or a Christmas tree decoration shaped like a Dalek? Their Tshirts are great quality, the gadgets are also quite nifty & of a reasonable quality (guided by price e.g. if they sell 2 items: one at $20 and the other at $5, logically the $20 item will be of better quality).
The only warning is that as they are in USA, and I'm in Australia, I have to plan my shop weeks in advance to ensure that product availability and postal services result in on-time delivery. I also stock up my order and get it all in one go to save on postage.
ThinkGeek.com is most definitely a frequent stop on the web shopping trips. They have a very good selection and ship quickly. There prices are good and the customer service is helpful. I have bought several things with my most recent purchase being a pick punch. My daughter now collects every used credit/gift card she can get her hands on and makes guitar picks out of them. She then either keeps the picks or makes jewelry (earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.). I would definitely recommend this shop.
Great webiste; great assistance!
I admit; i was skeptical at first due to all the bad reviews i've seen
Having had gone through a purchase that went swimmingly well (except for a cracked sword which is being replaced free of charge), I can honestly say i would recommend and send again. Love ThinkGeek! They had great customer service, and great prices. 10/10 would use.
For the nerd in everyone!
Quality has only been cheap once out of MANY orders. I am always happy with the variety of items, swiftness, and customer service.
Pricing can vary from cheap to expensive, but this site is just TOO COOL!
A wonderful site with a user friendly layout.
There is nothing bad to say about thinkgeek! You get really cool products for an amazing price. I've gotten one of their mugs, and I love the quality and the craft of their items. You're getting a one of kind item that you really can't find anywhere else. I've always had a positive experience from purchasing with thinkgeek!
Ordered a Light Up Newton's Cradle for my son for Christmas. Right out of the box it did not work. Called the Help Desk and they rush shipped a second one to us. The second one didn't work either. Called Help Desk again and was told they were having numerous issues with the item so please return and they would refund my purchase. They refunded the purchase price when I called back, BUT even after telling me that they could not refund shipping, I noticed a credit to my charge card a few days later. All in all, the product was not up to snuff, but thinkgeek.com did do their best to make it right.
Returned the item. It took them very very long to process the return. Then they tell you you should see the refund within 2 days. Its been 6 days and i saw nothing on my card. You can email them all you want, they will not reply you. If you try calling you will be on hold forever (after 30 minutes i give up). If you try chatting online, you will wait for over an hour. Finally, i am forced to file a claim on Paypal, and Paypal helped me get my money back in an instant (with all the evidence I have against them). Thinkgeek customer service is non existent. Return is a nightmare. Would not buy anything from them again.
Great place for geeks, intellectuals, weirdos, nerds, and other people who have a nice eccentric side or an obsession with gadgets. Fair prices, Fair shipping, and lovely selection. Its products made up more than half of my Christmas presents!
Office life can get redundant, so we like to play pranks on each other sometimes to spice things up. Think Geek has a great "cube warfare" category with a lot of fun office prank stuff. I have the coolest tesla watch from this site. Check them out.
On 12/10 I received an email that my order had shipped. This was the gift I bought for the hardest (by far) person on my gift list. He's impossible to buy for and I was thrilled that I found something I knew he would like.
On 12/20 I received an email stating that the item was out of stock and my order was cancelled. Yes, 5 whole days before Christmas and 10 days after the item supposedly shipped. This is absolutely horrible customer service and I will never even think about buying from ThinkGeek again. Shame, shame, shame.
I usually get my boyfriend's gifts from this website. He always really likes them so I'm happy about it.It's a good variety of geeky things. The customer service was okay when we needed to exchange a shirt because I got the wrong size. Didn't take too long to get in contact with someone and work out the issue.
ONE OF THE WORST ONLINE RETAILERS I HAVE DEALT WITH. I brought item for 60.00 instead of 250.00 on customs forms they ALWAYS out the MSRP rather than what you have paid thus making customs OVERCHARGE you. They have had 15.00 bed sets then customs form put item through as 100.00! I am expected to pay £80 in customs instead of £20 because of there screw up. When contacted they basically said if I refuse delivery item will go back to them and then they not refund me. That IS THEFT! TRULY HORRIBLE JOKE OF A COMPANY. Every year we go Orlando and spend £400 in the shops I WONT EVER buy from them again! You have been warned!
I've been purchasing from this website for almost as long as it's been in existence and only had to contact customer service once. It was for a mug that was not as pictured and I was refunded in full. No complaints other than that. Prices on items and shipping are better than competing websites and the Geek Points are a great incentive too.
