Yikes! So many bad reviews on here about vendors not showing and being cheated out of money, glad I'm not using them for my registry or vendors.
The Knot is free to use as your wedding website, but as they always say 'you get what you pay for'. I have had several issues with the website, it has become completely unresponsive and wont allow anyone to click any buttons, let alone RSVP. Speaking of, it somehow uninvited almost a hundred people from the ceremony without warning one day and we had to go in and manually fix it all. Use Wedsites or another company, I wish I had.
I've used theknot.com for my wedding site, for some checklists and a few other things - starting as far back as 12 months before the wedding. I'm really glad I didn't do more using it, because they decided to do a no-notice 100% site overhaul of ALL features. The new site is buggy, has features that are less rich, and while snazzy just doesn't do what you need.
For example - their upgraded checklist suggests I don't need to worry about caterer (I'm 60 days out... caterer's been booked for 4 months) because "you checked a lot of boxes today, you worked hard, take a break".
Our site was down the day after we sent out invites because they didn't think about websites that use a redirect (www.myNameHerName.com ==> knot.com/*******/). Awesome. Now nobody thinks our site is up.
I'd be super pissed if I'd been using it for budgeting or more items than just our site and a rough use of the checklist.
Wish I could give a zero! Read this before you waist your money and time! I am a vendor that has spent thousands with zero return because The Knot is a total SCAM! Zero customer service! They will flat out not help you in any way and tell you that they won't! They are amazing at getting you on board and then give you a huge FU... only wanting money, while scamming customers out of money for nothing! Customers sent messages and then disappear because they realize that The Knot is a Scam!
The Knot is terrible and their customer service is the worst. I entered all my guests using the guest list manager on their sister site, weddingchannel.com. I was informed that this list was going to be transferred to the Knot website but it never was because I had entered a couple people there already. So, all 150 guests that I entered are gone and I have to re-enter them. I am so frustrated and customer service has done nothing to resolve this. Needless to say, I refuse to buy anything from them or use their site as they are very unreliable.
There is no way of personalising names on invites. This has to be done individually and every guest message I tried to send prompted me to prove I'm not a robot multiple times. So because we wanted the extra touch of a name on the invite message, the process of inviting guests took over 4 hours. Our guests could not even RSVP as they could not find their names or the website was assuming they were other people. There is no way to organise your guest list into those who have RSVPd and those who haven't.
The website looks sleek and is easy to use. The premade templates are beautiful, but functionally, for an "all in one" solution, it is not there.
Hi Benjamin, thank you for the feedback. We would like to look into this more and talk to you about your experience. Please reach out to support@weddingpro.com to share more with us.
So I booked a hotel room using the knot and when I looked at the hotel the next day, if I had just booked a room directly through the hotel, it was over $100 less for one night. So when I tried to cancel my hotel reservation through the knot they would not give me any sort of refund even though it said that the cancellation policy is 72 hours before the night of the reservation, which is not for three months from now. They will only give me credit to use on their website. Getting in touch with people took me a very long time and I could not get through to a live chat or requesting a call instead I had to phone a number and I had trouble getting through to a person and it took having to leave messages and just wait for callbacks. I will definitely not be using them in the future and I have warned the bride of this wedding to take them off of her invitations as hotel booking help.
The Knot is a great resource for wedding planning. The site and magazine are filled with innovative and chic ideas for all budgets and styles. My favorite aspect of theknot.com is the community boards. By connecting with other brides in my area, I was able to find reputable vendors that fit my budget. I also loved the international boards. The advice and opinions I received were invaluable to the planning process.
They put you in auto-renewal, and it is impossible to cancel. The marketing packages that they want you to buy always over-promise and absolutely do not deliver on results. We signed up to the minimum year package, and after canceling we now have a credit agency calling us for a second year service that we did not use or want. As a vendor, we were not able to access any inquiries efficiently. Brides, we do not receive any contact information to assess your needs. We can only reply through The Knot, which can be a hassle in itself, so you must go back to the site for responses. The system is inefficient, and I am appalled with this autorenewal scam to vendors. Read the reviews, nobody appreciates being forced into contracts they do not want.
My brother used the KNot for his wedding block, ended up paying more than what the hotel offered if I went to them directly. At the end of the wedding he called the hotel and covered my room on his CC, as a nice surprise :) I reached out to CS to get a refund for the room and they refuse to issue it back to me and cant tell me why. $740 and it's been over 2 weeks. I am unable to speak to a manager everytime I call they're too busy and they ask me to "just wait longer."
Don't use the kNot for any kind of hotel reservations if you don't need to.
Also this review site says to upload a receipt/pictures and it wont let you
The community boards are filled with self-righteous, condescending and down right mean women. The "snarky brides" as they call themselves, feed off of tearing other women down who don't abide by their "etiquette rules". Worst is that they brag about it to each other and laugh at how they can make "newbies" never return to the boards. My suggestion if you have a question you'd like a real and true answer to... go elsewhere. These boards are are only full of snotty, arrogant and likely miserable women.
As a professional photographer for over 19 years I find it appalling to allow a customer to give me a bad review 3 years after I did there wedding based on the customer being satisfied at 1st then write the bad review only after they didn't get what they wanted for free. The knot would not take down the review as it was fraudulent and unfair after 3 YEARS! They only care about vendors who spend high dollar amounts to advertise. I will never advertise with the knot, EVER!
Hi John, thank you for posting a review and we’re sorry to hear that your experience was not up to standards. We would like the opportunity to talk and investigate your feedback further. If you wouldn't mind sending us a personal message with your business details, we will be happy to get in touch and discuss this matter with you further! Thank you and we look forwarding to speaking with you soon.
This company will not let consumers who have used their vendors and have had horrible experiences post anything negative on a review about the vendor, even with proof that this company was not legit. The Knot is a joke and I wouldn't trust them!
Hi Lori,
We want couples to leave reviews about their experience, both positive and negative. However, if a review is disputed, our Policy Team does need to verify the review before it can be reinstated. This process can take a bit of time and sometimes does require specific documentation. If you have any questions about a review dispute, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Policy Team at reviewinquiry@theknot.com.
I always love this site for that it can always come up with lots of fantastic ideas for your wedding. My cousins wedding has went smoothly and perfectly. And I owe a large part of the decorations as well as all kinds of planning and DIY stuffs to the knot. All these goes harmoniously with the gorgeous wedding attires from persundresses. Thanks a lot to the knot. Definitely thumb-up though.
There is a significant glitch that changes the wedding date from day to day. This is not a small problem but one they have been unable to fix. You have to check it every 8 hours or so to change it back to the correct date. It makes no sense.
According to Macy's Customer Service, any registry items ordered from Macy's through The Knot can take up to 30 days to be updated on the registry. Wow! That leaves a lot of room for duplicate items for the couple. Better to go through the dept store directly with your registry
If I could give this wedding website tool a zero star, I would. I experienced something that many others did regarding their update. After they updated their site, I was no longer able to login in to my account, leaving me without a communication tool with my wedding guest. I attempted to contact their customer service via email and phone and never spoke to a customer service representative. After emailing several times and leaving countless voicemails without any response from TheKnot team, I ventured elsewhere and created a new site with a different company. Trust me, you don't need the extra stress as your planning your wedding. Hope this helpful to future bride to be's.
I was informed by The Knot that they are like the yellow pages or yelp and they list all the companies in your area. You cannot have your company removed. It is their right to list your company, as the owner of said company, you have no say!
Secondly, if you are not a paying customer you can not respond to any of the reviews. Any body can write a wrong review and if your not paying The Knot, you can not respond - I call that blackmail!
Thirdly, The Best of The Knot, doesn't that sound wonderful? Well all you have to do is have 5 reviews and you get " Best Of ". They say the reviews are all legitimate but I know for a fact they are not...
This is a company that is one sided and does not work as team for anyone but their own pocket. Don't waste your time or energy!
The interface is AWFUL. They updated their site a few months back, after I had set everything up. If every piece of wedding information I have was not already in this site, I would have switched then, but I didn't. And I am still wishing I had. Their links do not take you where they state they will, they most often lead you to a generic page. You also do not have the option to change your email once you make your account (this is the ONLY webpage that I have EVER seen that on). Most of the time to get to any of my information, I have to click through three or four different links. Save yourself the trouble, download an app to your cell phone. NOT The Knot.
The worst part? When I send an email for any question that I have, it takes over a month to hear back, and by then the question is moot. Don't bother, go elsewhere for your wedding services. After months of planning, I am MOST excited to be done with this webpage.
SCAM!
They sound so much like the Wedding Wire. Based on the conversations we had on the phone, i asked them if they were sister companies with Wedding Wire, they would not admit. However I did ask them and which it caught them off guard.
"why do you have the same marketing strategies as Wedding Wire?" They couldn't answer the question.
I had a really horrible experience with this site. I ordered some items for my wedding and paid for express shipping which was more than $20. Well I happen to have ordered one item that needed engraving so they held all of my other items back and my order didn't ship until days later. I didn't receive my items until after my wedding! And when I called them they were very rude and refused to credit me the shipping though it wasn't the express I paid for. So be very very weary of this site.
Answer: My honest opinion... do not use theknot.com for your wedding. It crashes often and can be extremely frustrating. Believe me... I used it and was locked into using it because it was on all of my invitations. My best advice: use weddingwire.com. But, if you're not going to listen to my advice or are locked in and stuck as I was, go to your wedding website (not in preview mode) and click on guest list from the dashboard... well... After 9 attempts, TK will not load properly so that I can step you through it (everything else on my computer works great). Sorry, that's all I have for you. I hate theknot.com!
Answer: Tell them the same thing they say to you when you contact them for help in any way! "I don't think it is in our best interest! You are on your own... Good luck with that!"
The Knot has a rating of 1.7 stars from 390 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with The Knot most frequently mention customer service, credit card and wedding wire. The Knot ranks 79th among Wedding Planning sites.
