I rarely write reviews, but in Harveys case, I felt compelled to share my truly extraordinary experience with other parents looking for SAT/ACT tutoring. I suspect others might share the trepidation I felt when considering hiring a tutor I found on the internet. The fact that Harvey spent so much time discussing Alexandras situation by telephone, followed up by a free trial of his one-on-one Skype tutoring certainly helped to put my mind at ease. But listening to Harveys interactions with Alexandra during the sessions, it was obvious not only how remarkable are his teaching skills, but more important for me his compassion for Alexandra and his passion for working to ensure that she hit her goals. In the end, Alexandra gained over 400 points in SAT as well as 8 points in ACT, far beyond our expectations.

Nicole has always been an excellent student but a poor test taker. We were worried that so many of the standard test prep companies like Testmasters and Kaplan would not be able to address her specific issues, because we felt that Nicole really just needed someone to guide her in how to take the test. We signed up with Harvey because my daughter is an incredibly driven student who has dreamed for years of getting a perfect SAT score. We were somewhat nervous about finding a tutor comfortable with the New SAT format, but Harvey assured us that his methods would work equally well on the New SAT and the ACT. We began by being amazed when our son Justin went from 31 to 36 on his April ACT. But when he got his March SAT results back only to discover a perfect 1600 as well, we all fell off our chairs. Harvey truly is a wizard and any student who gets a chance to work with him should consider himself extremely lucky.

Harveys passion for what he does was obvious from the first time we spoke by telephone. My daughter is a little bit shy, but Harvey made her instantly comfortable. He also motivated her to practice regularly, which was really quite astounding because she has not been disciplined about schoolwork in general. With regular meetings with Harvey, Megans confidence grew and so did her scores on practice tests. After 2 tries, she saw her score go up from a 23 to 29. We have great respect for Harveys expertise.

I cant imagine a tutor more committed and professional than Harvey. He is very intuitive and quickly understood what was stopping Bryce from achieving on SAT as well as he is doing in school. We had a feeling Bryce was overthinking the test, but we didnt have a clue how to help him. In a matter of weeks, we saw huge improvement on practice tests. After two attempts, Bryce locked in a 2280 SAT which we expect to translate into a sizable merit scholarship award.

For those parents who are as skeptical as I was, I think its a no-brainer to at least take Harvey up on his offer of a free lesson. My daughter is very opinionated and when I first mentioned the idea of a Skype tutor she dismissed it out of hand. But after a 20 minute meeting with Harvey, she was both intrigued and excited to see what she could do to increase her ACT score (which was something she really wanted very badly). I am so thankful that we were able to get on Harveys schedule and that everything worked out so well. Ashleys ACT score went up from 28 to 35 and she was accepted early decision at Columbia.

My parents contacted Harvey because we all knew how impossible getting into Stanford is, especially for certain ethnic groups. He definitely is a wizard. First he tutored me on SAT and ACT until I got 2380 SAT and 36 ACT. But he also gave me the idea to start my own company and guided me step by step to make sure everything caught the attention of the admissions department. He went over my application and edited all of my essays. I can't believe I'll be going to Stanford in September!
