I've been using text now for like 3-4 years because paying a phone bill sucks and sometimes is not possible when your on my kindof budget. I was skeptical of the sim card thing for free service but I love it! I hate that I didn't do this sooner, it works, I have full bars of service, and no bill, not an Obama phone type free phone it's your regular phone but it's free. Textnow is by far the best

Perfect texting app for privacy. I do not use the calling feature.
I have the Text Now free service and my husband the paid service. It is horrible. We stay with it because it's cheap. Half the time I can't make call when I want. It deletes the names of my phone contacts randomly. The names that I put in on the computer don't carry over to my phone app so I have to put in every contact twice. I also get calls and texts from strangers, so they are selling my number. Reception is terrible and sometimes get a text a day later than it was sent. Call are dropped in the middle of talking and I apologize a lot.

Great app until a few months ago. Will terminate your free account without just cause stating you violated the terms of service. No further information, just terminate. A friend attempted to create a textnow account only to be rejected for violating the TOS, and she never even got the chance to fully setup the account and never received a free text number. Do NOT be tempted with this bogus app.
Terrible service... couldn't text... could make calls but not receive any... ported in my number I had for years... then when I wanted to leave them, they wouldn't release it,,, trying to save a penny cost me a dollar... not worth the time and effort; cost more in aggravation... no customer service to speak of... their "chat" is a joke... you'll be on line waiting for a response that will never come... was on hold for 25 minutes and then they gave erroneous info when I told them I needed my account # to transfer to another carrier... DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY... CROOKS
Don't even think in the pay version of TextNow, horrible customer service, never answered email's, no answers on the chat and no phone customer service. They charge you and then when you have a problem there is no help at all. I jusr cancel my service and file a charge dispute with my bank. Stay away!, Be aware!.
I been using the free service since my phone was sent back to get a replacement. This service is bad you can't hardly text people or when you make calls some people tell me they can't hear me or I sound far away. And the app only works on WiFi only no data. See I been reading a lot of reviews and when I seen nothing but bad I believe each person. See these people are scammers money sucking monsters they don't care about nothing not even a human being its all about money. This app kept feeling me about the good deals they have I said yeah right. The adds are crazy annoying and they want money ha! They will never get a penny out of me. This crappy service is only gôod when you don't have a phone and you need one and its free,. I only use the free service only when I need it I already have a phone carrier and its sure not this company. If I can't go talk to someone in person and all you get is poor customer service then I closing all my accounts..
I have been with 🎆TextNow🎆since my kids first told me years ago. TextNow is the Best Phone Service I have ever had. I still have my same number after all these years🎉
I was trying to activate a SIM on iphone but it was giving error messages and asking to contact customer service. I did that but Customer rep was also giving me go around. So I stopped this.
Will try again with Customer Service again to see if they can help this time.

No problems using this great phone service from a great company.
I tried to connect to my account today using a VPN connection for safety purposes. I found out the hard way that TextNow no longer allows VPN connections as my account was disabled when I tried to connect and I received a message stating that I had violated their terms of service. I filed an appeal and received a message stating: "We are unable to re-enable this account under any circumstances" (see attached copy of message). This comes two weeks after I paid them for locking my number (they assign a phone number to you if you pay them $4.99 per year). They have made no attempt to refund my money, which I thinkt that they should do since they are not providing the service that I paid for.

My parents just got a new phone so they don't have many people calling them but us. I got TextNow because I was traveling to Mexico and my mom got a hysterical message from a Mexico number. It was the next day of getting this account. I don't think it was coincidence. I don't remember giving them access to my contacts, but they were auto there. Convenient, but not if they sell those contacts!
Calls rarely come through. And if they do, you can't click on the call. It'll just come through and eventually turn into a missed call. This company is quite frankly the worst and I hope they go bankrupt.

Answer: Well well well, u pushed the right button. I don't trust them at all. They tried hardly to get a photo of any of my government IDs, together with a photo of my credit card pretending to verify my identity and they rejected all other means for verification including calling my bank.
