Worst book buying experience ever. Just don't do business with these people. Wish I had read the reviews first. Still haven't refunded my money.
I purchase my textbook for an on-line class. Paid extra for a rush on the book... Waited 2 1/2 weeks.
The post office told me that I didn't have a rush on my order... Matter of fact... this was the slowest way to mail a book! What?!
I bought Exploring Anatomy and Phys. In Lab. E-book. I didn't read the review before buying it otherwise I wouldn't buy from them. As soon as I realized that this e-book doesn't do anything good to me I wanted to return it. I thought as an unemployed person I could use that money for something else. I told the woman look, this is e-book; I didn't do any damage on it I want to return it. Then she said their policy is to return before fifteen days. I told her I was out of country then. Now I am back. She didn't let me return it. They want other people's money. It is not going to harm them if they return my money back. I told her I will not buy from them anymore; not only myself but my family, my friends, and whoever I know also. Dear readers, there are other websites we can buy e-books. Leave these people alone. Their business is NOT going to last longer. I don't want to give them even one star.
They sold me an ebook missing 5 chapters out of the book! And when I tried to return it, they refused to refund me, saying that there is no guaranteed return! Yet they sold me faulty merchandise. Bulls***!
Technically, they lure you to send textbooks to them for free, email you couple days later that they won't take those books. BUT, if you need the books back, you have to pay for return label or they will steal your books and sell them.
I bought a book from textbook.com and it said it was in used condition but I when I received it was like new in wonderful condition and still had the key in it unused and unopened. The book on amazon was selling for $140.00 and I got it for 29.95. I think they're great!
Sent a book in that was in excellent condition and they "rejected it" saying it was damaged. They offered to send it back to me if I pay $6.25.
Don't do business with them.
I would highly recommend NOT to use any services of textbooks.com. I bought a brand-new book and just used it rarely during 3 months. When I decided to sell it back to textbooks.com, I was quite sure that the book looked like new and the code was not scratched. Later I received an email from textbooks.com saying that the book was not eligible because of lack of online code. I believed that that the code was intact, and I did not want to lose the book so I had to pay for return shipping. If the code had been scratched, I would have contacted the publishers website of the book to report this. When I got the book returned, the code was still intact, so the reason for the book being returned is not correct. I will NEVER USE ANY SERVICES OF TEXTBOOKS.COM, and RECOMMEND ALL OF MY FRIENDS NOT TO BUY/SELL HERE!
The key here is to buy only from textbooks.com, if you see a listing under "Marketplace" it is a different company and about half the time you'll run into problems. But everything I have bought from them has been fine and arrived by UPS on time. As far as selling books back you're better off selling the book yourself if you expect to get a big pay off. They are picky about the condition, but what the reviews here don't mention is that when you create the quote to send them the books in the first place they cover shipping, so if they can't sell the book it makes sense that they try to cover the loss.
SCAM SCAM SCAM! I do not know who has been rating this website, but it's not real people. Look up ratings on other sites people! You send them a book and they claim that it is damaged and you must pay $12.50 in shipping fees. DO NOT BUY/SELL HERE! Chances are they are scammed books anyway.
After returning my book, I get an email saying that they won't accept it because it has been used. So I can either pay $12.50 for return shipping, or take a loss on the book. WILL NOT BE USING TEXTBOOKS.COM AGAIN.
I ordered and paid for a textbook, then later the next day was told that their system was behind and they didn't know the book had already been sold so my order was declined and that it would be 7-10 days to get a refund and if I don't get a refund to contact the seller myself because they don't have access to their financials. Wow, thanks for the great customer service! Won't be using this website again.
Sent them a book in excellent condition, and they allege the book was damaged. They now want $6.25 to return my book. There must be a way this fraudulent site be shut down and the owners arrested for robbery. Online criminals!
"Sold" my book to them after gently using for one year as new. I was denied because the access was used and they "couldn't resell it to another student", and wanted $6.25 to return it to me. Book originally cost over $100, and I'm sure they'll just resell it anyway. What a joke.
They had a buy back program, but do not trust them. Even though my book is very good, but they said it was water damage when they received it. So, if i like to receive my book back, they will charge me 12.50. This is definitely a scam, now I lost my book. They are not worthy to have one star... Get away from them.
I purchased a "used" book. When I received it the cover was torn. They exchanged it and the replacement copy was worse than the original! This cover is loose & also torn. I feel lied to since they claim books are "good" or "excellent" condition. I've demanded my money back. I was able to purchase a NEW (still in shrink wrap) copy on half.com for about the same cost.
I didn't expect a perfect copy. I expected used. However, I didn't expect one that looked like it had been through a war zone and is almost falling apart in the middle.
I am a new college student and I was in search of some textbooks. This was the first site I found that had all of the things for which I was looking. I looked at several of its features, and then I looked for some reviews. I was so very stressed out because the reviews that were good were coming from people who sold books, but bad reviews were coming from people who bought the books. I thought, "I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on somewhere that won't give me the right books in terrible condition!" I decided that I would spend $1,000 going through my school, so I saw that chancing it would be my best option. They didn't have a few of the nine books/ access codes that I needed, but they had most of it and it was all cheaper than going through several other sites that may have been more "reliable."
****If you read nothing else, read this.****
I loved the service. It was fast, it was awesome, I could see where my books were being sent, and I got them in no time at all. I will definitely keep coming back because my worries were over as soon as I received my books. I absolutely recommend this to anyone and everyone. My used books were not in terrible condition, the slip is missing on one, but that's no matter. The heart of the book is what counts, and the condition there is fantastic. Seriously, this is the best way to go.
"I ordered a book in textbooks.com. But the damn seller said he sold out the book and cancelled the order. However, I still saw his item in stock even after being informed the order was cancelled. That meant I still could order again. I wanted to give the damn seller negative rating but I could find nowhere to leave the feedback. So I don't understand how the seller got their rating in textbooks.com. Very strange. I won't use this website again because it's very unfriendly and unfair to the buyer."
Textbooks.com has a good selection of features that help it stand apart from the competition. Most notably, the website is not limited solely to textbook rentals. Textbooks.com allows you to purchase and sell your textbooks online, its very helpful for Textbook.com. I save money and time, So the textbook.com is very quickly to delivery the books for the customers.
I ordered a textbook on 27 August 2014 for my online class, which starts on 1 Sept 2014. I paid more for expedited shipping. The textbook I ordered is used, but was not even cheap, it was $46.91 plus expedited shipping cost. Once I placed order, I immediately sent the seller an email, stating that I have paid expedited shipping fee and requesting to ship it immediately. I also stated that I needed it for online class that starts 1 Sept. No response from the seller. On 2 Sept, I sent email to textbook.com team for solution, they replied on 5 Sept, with no solution. I sent them further email on 5 Sept, and no response. I recognized that the seller just shipped the book after about 2 weeks on 5 Sept, which does not serve my purpose because one week of online class has been already passed with out getting the book.
Textbooks.com customer service is very poor, they are not responsive, the seller is irresponsible, and have bad feed backs. I am very disappointed for dealing with textbooks.com seller. Please do not buy from this market. Use ebay or amazon markets. Ebay customer service is excellent and they strictly monitor their sellers.
Answer: NO... They are selling counterfeit books on their site and when you ask for a refund you get no response whatsoever. Stay away from this company as it is a clear scam on college students wanting to save money on textbooks.
