Thi site is AWFUL. Won't work with you at all if you've purchased the wrong textbook. Make you just eat your money! Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Help college students out! We're not made of money!
Just an update. I was able to receive my refund within l-3 business days after returning empty box sent to me. But make sure you verify product being ordered. If price is a little low, you may want to go to another supplier, or verify first.
I ordered a book weeks ago from their marketplace. When the book never arrived, I attempted to contact the seller directly, but the website nor the confirmation email provided me any way to contact them. When I spoke with a representative they assured me that they would send the contact details, which they did. They also told me that if I do not receive my book within a a few more business days, then they would refund me. I contacted them AGAIN today to see if they could give me a phone number for the seller so I could contact them directly, they let me know, via email, that they had refunded me WEEKS ago and never bothered to contact me to tell me this or that my book was not coming due to it being sold on another website. BUT, the same book, for the same price, is still listed on their marketplace. I would have ordered the book weeks ago from another site if I had known this. I'm glad for my refund, and the representatives were very nice, but they do not communicate with their buyers and I will not likely use them again.
DO NOT SELL YOUR BOOKS TO TEXT BOOK DOLLARS. WE WENT TO THEIR SITE AND PUT IN THE ISBN CODE AND IT SHOWED THE PICTURE OF THE BOOK WE HAD AND A $80 QUOTE. MY DAUGHTER WORKS HARD AT WORK TO PAY FOR HER BOOKS AND THEY SAID IT WASN'T THE RIGHT ISBN # AND WON'T PAY HER $80. I HAD GONE TO VALORE, CHEGGS AND TEXTBOOK DOLLARS. THE ISBN MATCHED AT ALL 3 SITES WITH THE PICTURE OF OUR BOOK, SO IT IS 100% THE RIGHT ISBN #. WE TRIED TEXTBOOK DOLLARS BECAUSE THEY OFFERED A FEW MORE DOLLARS. THEIR A SCAM!
Sent in a brand new book that had never been read much less touched. Claimed it had water damage. Want me to pay for it to be returned to me. Stay away... shoild have sent it to Amazon.
I ordered a two volume set books from this website but I received only volume one. The title was the "complete works", without specifying the volume. So I assumed there should be two volumes. I checked the ISBN and it was the same as the two volume set's ISBN. Also they didn't mention anywhere (in their description or the title) that it is only volume one.
I should also mention that the price for this volume one was higher than a new one (same publication, same edition, etc.).
Strange thing is that I don't have any access to that page anymore!
They have a return policy that you can return the book within 30 days of purchase, and I received the book 21 days after purchase, so I had only 9 days to return it. So I had to pay more for shipping.
It's been more than a week that they have received the book back and I haven't got any confirmation or refunds. They don't even reply my email (both seller and textbooks.com).
Also there is no way for customers to rate the sellers.
Sold my textbooks online with a amount worth of $200. They said all my textbooks were exposing the access code and that they wouldn't pay me and if i wanted to retrieve the textbooks back i would have to pay for the shipping. Funny part is i only have 3 days to retrieve my textbooks back. Definitely a shady pryramid scheme they have going. They said my textbooks would be discarded but they definitely will be resold.
Do not use this service! Books are rented for 60days only and expire right before finals. They then charge you double to get access back before finals.
PLEASE be advised that most of their textbook are only valid for 60 days. I purchased a book mid-semester (2-28-17) and lost access to the book on (4-30-17). This company does not make it obvious to buyers that they will only have access for 60 days. Shame on you Textbooks.com. This company should obviously know that most college semesters are longer than 60 days. PLEASE purchase from an other website.
I am a college student and I "bought" an ebook for my wellness class. I went online looking for a cheaper option because they were asking for about $200 for the textbook at the school store and on this website I "paid" a total of 54.10 with taxes included. I have to take an open book quiz every Friday, but when I went to access my book it said I couldn't access the book any more so I called and they told me that I rented the ebook for 60 days! Since when does a college course last for 60 days?!?! For me to even get access again for the book I had to pay another $54.10. So I asked for a full refund since I didn't get the full use of the book and they told me no because I "rented" the book when in my order it says SOLD and PURCHASED meaning I bought the book.
Sent $35 worth of books in and received $5 for them. 2 of the books were in excellent shape and the third had most of the exercises filled in but it was a 15 year old book that is still being used for classes. We were at least the 4th purchaser and I believe we purchased it for textbooks.com. We added no extra markings and just copied the questions. I will not be selling or buying any more books to textbooks.com
I recently purchased 17 books - all paperback, all stated "very good" condition. I wish I could upload pictures of the actual books I received. Most of them were almost entirely full of highlighting, writing in the margins and underlining. Some so bad, you could honestly not see the text to even read them. Books that were stated as paperback, came as hardcover with no dust jackets and dirty boards - it literally looked like someone had just thrown these books on the ground - that's how dirty they are. They also fail to tell you that almost all of their "very good" books are covered in multiple (no joke - one book I received had 12 used book stickers on it) used book, school book or library book stickers. I found that their descriptions were false and insultingly deceptive! This was the first and last time I will ever purchase a book from textbooks.com! I would have gladly paid the extra few dollars I saved with them to get the books I wanted in the actual condition I wanted them in had I known that their descriptions of their books were straight up lies! I seriously never ever write reviews like this, but I honestly felt obligated to warn others to avoid this place at all costs! If I could give zero stars I would! Horrible experience! Unless you want a book you could get at any garage sale for. 50 cents, quite possibly in better condition, it is not worth any savings... now I have the hassle of having to repackage and send back the books and I get to wait 2 weeks for my refund! Terrible, terrible, terrible!
I ordered a brand new textbook in which i need an access code for my class. I would expect that thw access code to come with the textbook and it didnt. So i than found a better deal from amazon book with access code brand new and got it in 1 day for less while this site took almost a week. Its a ripoff. And to top it off i got charged more on state tax also. Original price 221 than went to 256 at the end. Rip off. Dont order from here. Period.
I ordered what I thought to be a real textbook in great condition. What I got instead was clearly a copy of a real Pearson textbook. I had previously rented the original from Amazon and thought I would save a few $$$ by ordering from this site. As soon as I took the book out of the packaging I knew I had been duped. The book is larger than the real thing, the cover is a pixelated copy and the book binding fell apart. I have contacted the company several times for refund information but have never received a response. I have also reported them to Pearson's website for counterfeit books. They are clearly trying to take advantage of college students who are trying to save money on textbooks. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY IT IS A RIP-OFF!
It can take a full minute just to load a page of the online book. If you have to read 60 pages it can take an hour just to flip the pages. Rediculous! I want my money back!
The absolute worst. I have sold many books to online book stores and this was my first and only time i shall ever have any dealings with this company. I sold them a brand new text book never used or even taken from the book shelf after i purchased it. It had its original cd with it and you could not of bought a better condition book from the publisher. So i sent the book (big mistake) and it took forever for them to send the conformation email of recite. They then described the book as damaged, right then i knew i had made a big mistake dealing with this company. I requested the return of the book as i am not happy selling anything damaged. The postage quoted was outrageous but i paid it. Only to find the book had supposedly delivered to me some weeks later through ups. The book was never delivered. I have found this company to be very very slow abrupt and i now believe dishonest. I can only suggest to anyone reading this to avoid this company at all cost. You can find GOOD companies that handle buying and selling text books professorially. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. Unless you want to throw your money away stay away.
When purchasing textbooks, be VERY careful. Textbooks.com will take NO responsibility for any "Marketplace" books that they sell on their site. If the seller cancels the sale, you are not notified. If your textbook doesn't arrive, good luck getting it replaced or getting a refund. You are totally on your own, and no one in Customer Service will take responsibility. I am out the cost of textbooks that I paid for, which never arrived. The "Marketplace" seller - who I had to track down by myself, states that they notified Textbooks.com that my order couldn't be fulfilled. This notice was never forwarded to me. I did receive a confirmation of my order, a shipping date, and an anticipated delivery date, however. Still no textbook.
I bought a pdf from this website for a very reasonable $70 ($230 book). They said I'd have it within 24 hours, and I got it in less than an hour. I'd say it's fairly safe to buy from them, but other reviews indicate you SHOULD NOT sell them your books. Just follow that rule, and you should be fine.
Scam, keep away. The will cheat you, steal your books, claim your books are invalid and tell you to pay for shipping them back.
I ordered a book through Textbooks.com com which has not been sent to me. Their website claims that the order is complete. I contacted their customer service and got an email indicating that although I purchased the book through them the order is completed by Hippo books and I should contact them now. There was no effort made to find out the status of the book. If companies are to sell other companies products then they should make it very clear to their customers to exactly what is going on at the point of purchase. This is unsatisfactory and unacceptable practice.
Answer: NO... They are selling counterfeit books on their site and when you ask for a refund you get no response whatsoever. Stay away from this company as it is a clear scam on college students wanting to save money on textbooks.
