The website provides good practice material, it keeps kids engaged all the time. Kids can practice on their own as well.
I subscribed to TestingMom.com to help my kindergartner prep for an upcoming test, but I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the experience. The site has technical issues on both Chromebooks and Windows computers, depending on which browser you're using. In addition, while the questions are read aloud (which is expected for non-readers in kindergarten), many of the answer choices contain words that aren't sight words—and unfortunately, those answers are not read aloud. That meant I constantly had to sit next to my son and read everything for him, which defeated the purpose of him practicing independently like he would on the real test. I made the mistake of paying for a full year upfront. Once I realized how many issues there were, I asked for just half of that back (6 months), even though we hadn't even used it for a full month. They denied the request. If you're looking for a better option, I highly recommend IXL instead. It's been a much smoother experience and way more effective for us. I wish I had gone with that from the start
We used TestingMom for a long time with both of my kids to prepare for the gifted test. I agree it was my fault that I didn't cancel on time, but I was on a quarterly payment plan. I was charged for three more months, even though I won't be using the service. This is very disappointing for me. There should be some room for negotiation. I wouldn't recommend the service to any of my friends..
Really helpful! It helped the kid to familiar with the test format
The games and tests are GREAT! Both of my children were prepared for the CogAT, and their scores increased from 72nd percentile (nationally) to 99th percentile! This training WORKS
So many emails. So much sales pressure. I immediately regretted signing up and cancelled as soon as my kid's test was over.
I used this for my daughter in 5th grade in Primary school and prepare for the CogAT® - Cognitive Abilities Test - Form 7 and 8. Easy to access and do the test. Enough material to go through 3 months of self study. The test results are not back yet. But I feel my child has improved a lot in testing.
I tried to cancel my subscription and it takes multiple steps and deters you from cancelling.
Played phone tag to try and get a hold of them, said best way to reach them was email but they wouldn't deal with what I needed them to deal with except on the phone. Annoying.
The testing mom resource has become obsolete. IXL has surpassed it as a more effective option. Testing mom needs to commit to revising their antiquated materials, which have remained stagnant for years. The lack of updates has rendered the resource an unnecessary cost. My children are now using IXL, and my daughter has even encountered identical questions from IXL on her exams.
The quality of the material is okay, not great, not too bad. But their membership policy is pretty tricky to me. They mandatorily auto-renew your membership, no matter which one you picked originally. I only used 3 months of the system, but it kept on charging me for a year until I realized this from my banking account. Isn't it crazy? I have never seen any website like this, mandatorily renewal! There are a lot of other resources for kids, I will never use testing mom anymore. Khan Academy is even free, why go to this?
Excellent resource! I will use it again and again. I also found the support of the website to be excellent!
Nothing was interesting or help me learn in the slightest. Doesn't let you choose specific topics for CTP testing. All the interactive learning was either broken or had nothing to help kids over the age of 8 learn. Don't waste your money.
Took the membership for coGAT and the pattern & type of questions were totally different infact it was more easier for 2nd grader. We still did work on those papers and finally turned up to a totally different actual test on coGAT. It served no use for us.
We called them asking for a refund since it was merely few days we had used it and it was on 1st day of coGAT test we realized that the test was entirely different so we called to check refund.
They declared that they don't give refunds.
Sad we had to pay so much money for nothing
My son did TAG qualification testing for the first time being in his 3rd grade. He studied using testing mom for about 1,5-2 months and got amazing results - 99 percentile rank! He qualified for the program!
Highly recommend!
I had been a member for a couple of years and they automatically renewed me on Jan 12,24 for an entire year for $99. I emailed them on Jan 13,24 asking them to cancel since we had not used the site in over 9 months with no plans to use it this year. No reply so I called a few days later and was treated in a very patronizing way by the customer service representative. Extremely unhelpful and totally not understanding at all, telling me "these are the terms you agreed to when you signed up." And "I can email you a copy of the terms you agreed to." I never agreed to anything willingly and they have sneaky practices. After wasting 30min going back and forth she finally at least agreed to prorate me for January and refund $90 to me for the rest of this year. I told her in the future if I need test prep, I will not be using their site and will use something else. I also would never recommend this site to anyone unless you are extremely vigilant about their shady auto renewal. There are definitely better options out there!
We've used Testingmom.com for additional study resources and have felt it was money well spent.
I signed up, was charged 9.99 and the software did not work, kept erroring, never useable. NO support. Cancelled immediately and sent an email requesting a refund (literally 10 minutes after signing up). They refuse to give a refund for their shoddy software/website after multiple communications. To add insult to injury, I am now on their spam list being inundated with daily emails about their "services". They also conveniently seem to not give you a real order ID, just an email called 'your receipt'. Put your money towards a workbook instead.
This site will continue to charge you even after you are finished testing. Be very mindful of the renew policy. I contacted them days after my card being charged and still do not have a refund. I did not click auto renew at the time…somehow it was "clicked" for me.
You cannot sign up without it auto renewing the subscription and when I asked for a refund and showed I had not used the site beyond what I had subscribed they refused the refund. Regarding the site itself, we used it to try to prepare for the cogat but we did not find it very useful. We found cogat books that were more useful than the website.
Answer: We do not offer a free trial because our customers have the ability to print our practice questions. Instead of a free trial, we do offer 100 free practice problems. You may go to Testingmom.com to register for the free questions anytime!
Answer: There is not penalties. Buy you'd better make sure you cancel before the month ends or they will keep your account forever
Answer: You have to be EXTREMELY careful with this company as they have a very tricky cancellation policy just for the sake of ensuring that they can charge you again, and not refund your money. If you decide to try for a month you almost need to cancel your membership immediately so you don't forget, as they intentionally state they won't send out a courtesy reminder unless you request it, and if you forget to cancel even within the same day they charge you they will not refund you based on hidden and deceptive language in the terms of agreement.
