Lovely freeware software. Its extremely useful when you want to explain something to a friend, fix a problem on a remote computer... etc. Its beats most of the commercial products out there and has portable version as well.
TeamViewer works really well for me! I've been using TeamViewer for nearly five years, and I find it very user friendly, highly functional, and low footprint on my desktop. If all else fails, I'll read the manual (as with any software tool), and I don't have to do that much with TeamViewer; it's quite intuitive and easy to navigate.
Like the other reviews say - very sneaky renewal conditions.
In the small print, unless you cancel 28 days prior to renewal, you get charged for a full year in advance.
And it's so convoluted to cancel - I couldn't even find out how to do so. So guess what - up for another $1800 for just 3 users!
We started using Chrome Desktop Remote (free) Seems to work just fine
Terrible Customer service. Even if you use the free version, they will mark you as commercial and make you pay. I was attempting to access personal photos and they would not remove my block. They said I had to fill out a form that could take up to a month to review. STAY AWAY! Bad Service, Bad Business. BAD!
On the way to the airport I subscribed to TeamViewer which I had previously used for free. The website was difficult to use and I ended up accidentally subscribing for a year. I was then in SE Asia for 3 months in remote locations doing nonprofit work and out of touch. Only when I returned home did I realize I had subscribed at a cost of almost $500. I am 80 years old and not very good with computer stuff. I called the company and the rep said it had been 3 months so no cancellation. He would not elevate my request to anyone else, saying he was the "supervisor." Very unsympathetic, argumentative, and unwilling to even consider my plight. I have been unable to get the software to work well after trying, along with my computer consultant, for several years. I now see many other bad reviews, but too late. I thought I had a good reason for my "delay," but he couldn't have cared less. This software may be great for some folks but for me it's been terrible, and instead of a company being kind and supportive to my needs they have been unsupportive, even nasty. I would recommend that anyone think twice about using them and considering competitors instead.
So disappointed, have been a customer for several tarts. I raised a ticke about my bill- it was 10 days later so I called as needed to sort this out. They now say it is too late for me to downgrade to remote access as I use teamviewer for one client only. I feel the whole experience is disjointed and over priced especially at the present climate.
I'm hostage to this company. First try to find them; get your popcorn. Then they tell you the process but it doesn't work. Plan on giving 3 hours of your life to get rid of it. "It's easy" says my employer. Session never even worked and woud'nt hook up and now hours of misery. They want to make you pay for leaving them.
Contacted them -- which was extremely difficult -- about a scam I got involved in. Scammers used TeamViewer
ID 878-308-016 to load it on my PC. I contacted TeamViewer about it and got into an online chat and was told I would need to file a scam ticket. Easier said than done. Information required was impossible to locate to file the ticket and no one is available to help you. They will blow their horn about being so concerned about fraud but it simply is not true. If it were true, they should have made filing a fraud ticket easier and had help available to do so. This company is a scam and you should think twice about getting involved with it. There is no customer service except to make sales. Beware
They will sell you a premium license for lots of money but wont allow you to create a package that is customized for the price of that license. How do I know? My boss insists that our current licensing does that. Team viewer responds by saying that we have to buy another license to be able to do that.
Their site claims they use state-of-the-art security to protect the customers, but don't believe it. I attempted to download Office 365, was sent to a fake site, and the fake site used TeamViewer to access my computer. This site is used by hackers. Use at your own risk.
I went to the Teamviewer website to go and pay for my annual subscription. I saw that there was a new significantly lower pricing (old: $625) (new: $495.98). So, I thought oh, same account, same machine, they can transfer the license. I bought the license under the same account number, and email, and activated the license on the same machine).
Yesterday, I receive an email telling me that my card did not work for them to charge me an additional almost $700. I call and am told by a salesperson who proceeds to try to get me to think that I am getting a deal. He says that they set the price for their shareholders, etc, etc, etc... and that somehow I should think it fair that a current customer shouldn't automatically receive the lower price? That they'll forward to me the discount next year? Yeah, I think not.
Yeah, don't ever buy anything from this company. I have found another company that I will happily use in a year.
Do not purchase a team viewer license ever. They apply unethical and boarder line illegal practices in their contracts. I tried to cancel my subscription recently after being auto charged $550 for a year subscription. I started the process of cancelling days after they charged my card. I spent hours online, on their website chat support, and on my account trying to find a way to cancel and request a refund for the year of service I was unknowing charged for (they don't give any warning an auto charge is coming). After 4 weeks of getting the run around from customer service they final said okay we will cancel your subscription for next year (11 months from now) but we will not give you a refund period. Not even a proration refund on the year! They expect to keep the $550 for the entire year of service even though I am not and have not used the product for months! I am fighting this charge with my bank now but this is completely unethical and boarder line illegal in my opinion. Besides all of this the reason I am dropping the service is it rarely works. I have old computers in another state I want to log into and every couple of months they push some update that causes me to not be able to access the older computers without driving over or hiring someone to go there and manually update then. Defeats the whole damn purpose of having remote access if I constantly have to go there and manually update the computers! 1 star only because 0 stars not an option.
Whoever is in charge of development at Team Viewer has made it nearly impossible to support my end users. Version differences that are not forward or backward compatible block you from supporting end users. Then there is the limited licenses for support teams. Under the license that we have, we are only allowed three primary support licenses. So if you support someone on your work desktop and then get a call at home and are need to support someone from your home laptop, you have to remove the license from your work desktop computer first. They are making it far too difficult to support end users and are driving my company to look at other options. They started out as a good product, but now are making it very frustrating to support end users. We are reviewing other options.
With them claiming business use when you try to use it, it has shortened the time you are able to access the remote computer to around one minute. I use it to play a game and help out my parents remotely when they are having trouble, but will be switching to chrome as soon as possible.
In my opinion it is now a waste of time as it never use to be like this. And yes i have also tried sending in the PDF form to say its not for commercial use.
They require a 28 written notice of cancellation prior to a forced auto-renewal. I don't need their software, but because I missed the single reminder email in my junk folder, I'm forced to pay over $1000 for a service I don't need.
I got mail related my teamviewer account, and they asks me to pay ( usind debt collector) for service which already inactive. Very ridiculous action from teamviewer, especially when they already disabled my account.
Our TeamViewer contract was with a former employee who no longer worked for the company. We did not get the reminders about cancelling our renewing our contract until it was past the 28 day period. We only found out about it once the bill went to collections. I tried to talk to costumer service about our situation and that the employee who signed up for the program was no longer with us so we did not receive notification about renewal (this took place 2 week past the renewal date). My phone call was met with poor customer service and we were forced to pay for an entire year of a service we do not use. I offered to pay for the 2 weeks we "had the program", but no, they are making us pay for the entire year. Any company that makes you jump through hoops to cancel a subscription is shady. I do not recommend.
I had the same experience as many other reviews here.
Cancelled the service months before renewal due, then on the day renewal was due they send an invoice claiming the service must be cancelled 28days before, but only by a support ticket. Going by their response and discussions with Australian support this company needs to be reported as a scam.
Buyer beware! When purchasing a license for TeamViewer they auto renew your service. If you do not cancel before the renewal date. They tell you they send a auto renewal email to cancel the service if you need to. My service renewed in Jan 2021. They said they sent me a renewal letter in Nov 2020. I have yet to find the email. I saw the charge on my credit card. Called the company to cancel. Well, I can't. I can only cancel for 2022. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. So has many others. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Find another service that will work with you.
I tried the free version of team viewer to access my work computer from home. Seemed to work find for one day and after that would not let me sign in to my work computer. Could not get it to work so took it off my computer. Anybody know of a better FREE system.
Answer: They say I don't qualify to talk to a real person when I call the number and they don't respond to my tickets...
Answer: Definitely Chrome Remote Desktop. Been using for about 4 years now and haven't had any issues. Improvements over the few years since I first started using it have made it even better.
TeamViewer has a rating of 1.2 stars from 167 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with TeamViewer most frequently mention customer service, credit card and year subscription. TeamViewer ranks 12th among Remote Desktop sites.
