My wife and I recently bought a pretty complex wall unit and bedroom set from IKEA and we opted to have TaskRabbit complete the assembly and install. Jason was sent to our home to complete the work. I should mention that me being a contractor I have very high standards so I was skeptics about hiring someone else to do this work but " WOW" were we impressed. Jason was at our home for almost 12 hours to complete this complicated assembly and install and he was so professional the whole time. I've been a contractor for over 40 years and I have less than a handful of people I recommend with confidence but Jason just got added to my list. Thank you Jason for the great job ot looks great.

Signing Up As Tasker
August 18, 2020

It says it needs your social security number for payment, which seems completely unnecessary. If you said you needed it for a background check, then okay. You literally need just an email to pay through Venmo. Why do you need my address, birthday, AND SSN? I uninstalled the app before I got to use it.

I was moving to a new place and needed a closet system. I had a Boaxel closet designed at IKEA. They advertise Task Rabbit all over their website. Hired Mark C. A highly rated Tasker to install. Didn't want to micromanage him. When I moved in and started to fill this very large walk-in closet, one side of the closet detached from the wall. He only mounted the uprights with 3 screws when there were supposed to be 8. I was in the closet when it fell. Had to walk over clothing to get out. Newly plastered and painted wall ruined. Task Rabbit offered me two free hours of a Tasker as compensation, a joke. I will take them to court Task Rabbit and their Tasker to court if they don't reimburse me for all costs.

Failure

I hired a person to pick up and deliver birthday cake, I verified and told her I could hire someone else if she could not do it. She confirmed that she could. She did NOT do the task, I reached out to the company ad they did nothing to compensate. Steer clear of this company.

Registration for tasker
September 20, 2023

For registration you should pay 25$ and after to try pas the baground check in his local service Checkr, which of course does not have access to most checks outside the country and even inside. So you have a high probability of being denied registration due to failure to pass this test. Of course the money is not refunded. They are happy.

My ordeal with https://www.taskrabbit.com/ started when I needed to change the front door of my dishwasher.
The door came loose and I bought another part that needed to be changed. I contacted a few handymen on https://www.taskrabbit.com/ and Mohammed replied and we agreed he would come to my house.
That's when the nightmare started.
This is what he did to my drawer when I asked hi to fix the bottom that was loose (see photos)

TaskRabbit SUCKS!

I've been trying to book someone for two days to assemble and mount a cabinet that I purchased from IKEA. The taskrabbit guys that assemble don't mount and the mounting guys don't assembleso essentially, you have to pay two separate times for one job which ends up costing you more in the long run. Dumb!

Disappointed

I am staying home mom, therefore Taskrabbit seems like a great opportunity for me, flexible hours, extra income. I signed up and filled up all the paperwork. After I get to point when they asked me about my ssn, my acc.#, my id... I started to be a little bit suspicious since I don't know nothing about this company. I tried to contact them but the email was only way to reach them. There was not respond on the phone number that I found.
The respond by the email did not give me any peace of mind. They did not really answer any of my questions. So I lost time and some $ for registration and got nothing.
I wish that they can be reachable by phone and I can find some other people who work for them that I can be sure that it is not just scam.

Got the job done

My first experience with task rabbit movers was terrible, would have gave negative points if I could. With needing help moving again and all other options expensed, task rabbit was my last resort.

Just needed help moving a basic 1 bedroom room, a couch, and computer desk, into a uhaul.

He showed up on time. Showed up with gloves. I only wanted help moving the basic stuff, bed, desk, couch, dresser. We were done in 20 minutes. Cost was a one hour minimum, and even though he was done with what I had asked him to do, he stayed the rest of the hour and helped move the rest of the stuff.

Quick and painless. Changed my mind about task rabbit, may have just had a bad first experience, will probably use again.

Useless

I signed up looking for help deep cleaning my apartment after moving in. I couldn't find many good contractors on the app in my area. I found one person who had experience, so booked them and started the chat. The contractor ignored me and then canceled my cleaning appointment. I couldn't get any other contractors on the app to talk to me and help out. I see a lot of other reviewers here complaining about the flaky, unreliable contractors, and that seems to be true based on my experience.

The people doing the tasks are often paid less than minimum wage for the work, and people are so desperate for work, they accept jobs for too low. It's bad for the customer and the person doing the work

Dishonest charges

This company and their staff they advantage of the cancelation policies to charge customers for a lot of money. You can't even ask them if they can do the job if you don't book them. That's how they get you and charge for a service. They charged $50 to my account without telling me and refused to refund. They said they did a courtesy refund 3 years ago so I don't qualify. It's a scam. Don't do it!

Had my first Tasker ever verbally harassed me and cancel the task last minute. Had to hire another tasker at 4x the price last minute who was unable to actually complete the Task because he arrived super late (due to the first tasker cancelling last minute) and now TaskRabbit is unwilling to compensate me for any of this. Absolutely terrible, do not use.

I'd give ZERO stars if I could. I hired Scott S to assemble patio furniture. He cancelled 30 min AFTER he was due to be here. Ge has a "regular job" and forgot he had to work today. I have a party this evening, and no furniture to sit on. AVOID TASK RABBIT. I've been on hold on the phone with them to file a complaint on Scott S.,, for over 40 minutes.

Charging a 40% fee per hour on top of the tasker's rate is insanely expensive. Over a certain dollar value it should be flat fee or a much lower flat rate. I hired a painter at $50/hr and then had to pay andother $20 an hour in fees. If I weren't disabled and unable to find anyone else I would never in a million years pay $70 an hour for a painter.

Do not hire this guy! I had to go all the way back to Ikea tonight, meet with the manager to have her rebook everything. I complained that they kept me waiting for half of the day and didn't show up. He kept stringing me along with a promise to show up but couldn't make it in the end. The manager at Ikea is doing her best to resolve the issue - and resolved it will be or they can come and pick up their $4,000 with of stuff!

What was IKEA thinking?

The zero stars rating would of been more appropriate, with one star being generous. The delivery model is all wrong, there are limited taskers and the ones that engage you just do it to see where, when and how and after lots of photo sending. And then they decide they can't do the task, aren't qualified with no ability to rate their poor engagement.

I have attempted to use the app/service 3 times and I am done. With no success in TaskRabbit ever delivery anything not even customer service. Takes 7-10 days to get a respond to an email. I count my blessings that I was never able to engage anyone since the expectation at this point would be for an serial killer or arsonist to show up.

Thieves

This is the worst company. The guy (Sukhwinder) comes to our home and damages our walls, the ikea wardrobe unit and then charged us cash to disassemble the five minute job he did. Charged us full price plus $20 for disassembling.
Their customer service is horrible. They've been ignoring my complaints (for 3 months) and finally sent me a long form to fill when I threatened legal action. Only then yo be told that I had missed my deadline to respond to their form (how convenient for them).
Awful in all the ways: unreliable, hypocritical, no care or attention to customer issues.
Save your money. They hire thieves and have no accountability or customer response team.

You take your chances

Their software is full of holes and glitches, some of which can cause both the tasker and the customer problems. Problems require customer service solutions and I've found their service to be non existent to incompetent neglect.

My experience reflects general customer review trends - TR does not vet skills, just requires background checks which taskers must actually pay. I've lucked out with a couple of multiskilled veterans but unlucky with a few problematic taskers.

Reading the taskers' side of experience, TR reminds me of Uber in their treatment and one-sided metrics systems. I personally prefer not to support businesses with history of unfair or poor treatment of good workers. I've used TR multiple times in the last several months, various categories. Too many issues and problems, so I can't recommend them at all. Too bad because it's hard to get small projects done by larger companies.

Really Bad Service
July 22, 2018

Ive scheduled 3 different appointments over three weeks on the only day I have off during the week and every single time Ive scheduled they have canceled the appointments either the day before or the day of and every single guy said I have had something come up sorry we have to cancel. Just save yourself the time of scheduling and research a different handyman service!
