I've used study island for two years, school-wise. I'm literally forced to use this program, and its horrible. I've done so many lessons, and questions that I don't even learn. It's just memorization, and doesn't give any educational benefits. I try very hard to gradually learn the lesson that I'm doing, and it gives redundant long explanations that make barely any sense. Even when I use its resources, it does not help.
There are many bugs that exist in the program as well, such as answers being 'wrong' even though they're clearly right, loading times, structural glitches and so much more. I don't know if this program is meant to help students with learning, or implement mental stress.
This program is terrible. It ruined my self esteem. When i didnt learn the lesson yet the program got mad because i was guessing. When i did the work on scratch paper. It said i was taking too long. When i was playing the games poorly it took my game privileges away. This website made me feel likd i was dumb. It ruined my self esteem... study island gave me clinical depression
It askes me if im guessing when in not. Like this needs to stop. I hate when people assume things that arent true...
It wastes students' time when they could actually be learning. As well as drain the teachers teaching the subject. Stay as far away as possible!
Study Island is stupid. It has the correct answers but says they are wrong. The animation is for 2 year old children but yet the problems are for college students. Also the "FUN GAMES" study island has are about math. For example the Bugs Away game requires you to do math problems in between the already dumb games. It is also incredibly stupid because the explanations are too complicated to explain what you did wrong. It should simply say how you should do it not give the entire biography about the creator who is an man who has been dead for the past 150 years. WHO GIVES A SH*T?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I have to get at least an 80% or I have to REDO them. This is bull$#*! because I never learned more than half of the stuff. It makes the correct answers wrong and the wrong ones correct sometimes.
When I do a test it always logs me out! It is VERY glitchty. I hate Study Island also because it lags and gets right answers wrong.
It is very glitchy and buggy. Even over wifi, loading can take a ridiculous amount of time. The idea is great however they have a lot of kinks to work out. I've watched my son select a correct answer and he gets a pop-up starting there is an issue, so he selects the same answer again. He then gets a pop-up with an explanation of the correct answer, and I can see in the background that a wrong answer is now selected.
Study Island is a terrible website run by a company of blithering idiots who don't understand half of the things they make 'lessons' about. Many of the so-called 'answers' the website gives you as options for solving equations are just blatantly incorrect. The explanations it gives you as to why you chose the wrong answer are confusing, convoluted, and feel as though they have been written in a foreign language. The scoring system is also completely unreasonable, as it gets more and more difficult to pass a subject the more times you fail at it.
Honestly, if you want a tool for studying math, don't waste your time and money by subscribing to study island. Instead, purchase a membership with IXL. It is a much better service with none of the issues I mentioned with Study Island to hold it back.
Every time I do Study island it frustrates me because half of the answers are not even correct. I did linear equations and some of the answers were completely off. Study Island just needs to get shut down, there is nothing good that comes from it!
I am a student that's in middle school, we had to complete 48 of these questions to get a little day of cooking out! I know about half of these kids here that only completed 3 lessons! These are not at all a sixth grade level. None of these kids that are trying so hard to go, will be able to attend the day off. I am stuck on this one lesson that I have done 5 times now, and still can't pass! Guess I won't be going either.
This website doesn't help you at all. It is stressful. If you get a question wrong it feels degrading. It goes off of your test scores and is tailored to you but half of this stuff I don't even know
I do my homework but it never shows *GOT DETENTION* THE WORST IT ALWAYS GIVES DETENTION VERY DISAPOINTED :(
It is the worst website ever. It doesn't help me in school. The questions make no sense. I hate it. Nobody deserves the torture.
I've read through the lessons multiple times to try and understand the topic and I also watched the videos the website provides, and i continue to get almost every question wrong. The lessons do not help and the so called "explanations" the site gives to you gives you just doesn't help either. Therefore, I find it just a waste of time when there are alternative learning programs to help students. It is just a stressful waste of time.
This is the worst site i have seen. The lesions can not teach a student that dont know how to do these problems and even when someone does know how there scores are low because the site does not work correctly. I would rate it less than 0

-Stressful
-Sometimes just doesn't work
-The way they word the questions just doesn't make sense
-I thought IXL was bad, but this is just a very, very bad program
-negative approach to learning
This is a horrible, negative, stressful approach to prepare for 3rd grade standard test. The whole idea of retaining kids on the basis of one test is ridiculous. Teachers should know if a child should be promoted! Study Island is way above 3rd grade level, questions are confusing and options are not well defined. It causes students to feel badly about themselves and lose confidence. Who designed Study Island? Certainly not a third grade teacher. It is the worst possible study tool.
