I am participating in an Abroad Program and needed to buy tickets from Seattle, WA to Osaka, Japan. I booked a last minute flight to Tallinn leaving in 36 hours, and received an automated message saying I will receive my flight booking information within 7 days. I anxiously called the customer service line to get this information asap as my flight was leaving in 36 hours - well before the 7 days listed. They answered right away and worked diligently with the airline and connection flight to get my information sent over in just 3-4 hours. They were fantastic and I truly appreciated the efficiency and urgency they used in this matter.
Though everything was GOOD one issue is that I didn't get my e-ticket soon after the purchase and I got an email saying that my e-Ticket will be sent with in 7 days and that's confusing and worrying till I get the e-ticket.You can. I have been a faithful student universe user for over a decade. I will never use it. I purchased both insurance and refundable flight policy, but when I went to use my refundable flight policy, I was told it wasn't a valid reason. I was attending to baby shower. There is no longer a baby shower to go to, due to horrific and unforeseen circumstances. The agent I spoke with was rude, impatient, and uncaring. She cut me off numerous times and told me to just go to another website to apply for a refund. This is unbearable and a huge blow.

I paid extra for seats on one segment. When I checked KLM's web site to reserve seats for the remaining segments my account read that I did not have seats even though I paid $52.50 for 2 seats. The same seats on KLM's web site cost $24.20. I paid $24.20 in addition to $52.50. I contacted customer service at StudentUniverse. I was told to email a request. I emailed 5/5/25. I have never received a reply and its 5/7/25 now.

I bought a flight ticket that explicitly was saying that I had a 23kg bag allowed. I payed for the ticket, got a confirmation email saying that I had the 23kg bag, so far, normal. Then, 5 minutes later I received another email of my itinerary but now saying that I was not allowed the 23kg bag. This is totally unacceptable.

I noticed when I booked that I had to cancel my flight and called urgently to do so. To my surprice yo ask me for a 185 dollar cancellation fee WTF is that?
I bought a ticket for a minor - entered in her bday to find and purchase the ticket - and I was sold a ticket for an adult. I called student universe to fix this and they said they can't change or refund my ticket. This was within 8 hours, well within the legal 24 hr time window that you must be able to return a ticket in. Despite telling them this, speaking with multiple reps, multiple phone calls, they still would not give us a refund for the ticket even though we couldn't even use it AND it was within 24 hours of purchase. This is illegal. I will never be using student universe again.
Hi Cheryl, thanks for your review. From the date of birth entered I can see in the booking an adult ticket was correctly booked. Children's tickets are for ages 2-11 inclusive. With regard to the 24 hour policy for cancellations, this rule is applicable for bookings with the airline directly and not via third party travel agents. The ticket is definitely still able to be used. If you still wish to cancel because you found another cheaper ticket elsewhere you can let us know but we will need to follow the agreed upon fare rules. Kind regards, Brad

SUN: ******* I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I received from StudentUniverse regarding a recent flight booking made for my mother-in-law. I was the one who booked and paid for the ticket, including the optional travel insurance, with the understanding that it would provide flexibility in the event of changes or cancellations. However, when I attempted to change the travel date, I was informed that such a change was not allowed. Furthermore, when I tried to cancel the booking in order to rebook with another airline, I was told that cancellation was also not permitted. This experience clearly reflects deceptive business practices and a complete lack of customer service. If the person who booked and paid for the ticket has no authority to make changes, and if insurance provides no real coverage, then customers are being misled into a false sense of security. What StudentUniverse is doing amounts to corporate negligence and unethical conduct. I strongly urge others to be cautious when booking through this platform. Until there is transparency, accountability, and proper support, I will not be using StudentUniverse again, nor will I recommend it to others. I request a full investigation into this matter, and I expect to receive an explanation along with appropriate resolution.

If the reasoning meets the terms and conditions agreed to at the time of booking their team will refund you. It is likely you were quoted the refund and change as per fare rules which is outside this process. Further, you are able to make changed but we would need authority from the person listed as the booking contact. In future I would list yourself there so theres no issues with this. I had to cancel a flight booking. I had discovered that the booking I had just done was without a checked bag. It was impossible to correct my booking online, nor through the SUN site, nor the airline's. I had to call the SUN's center in UK from Greece. I explained my problem, and later in the same day, I had my cancellation via email. But my cancellation had a different reference code than the original. I replied to the mail expressing my worries, but I never got an answer.

I tried multiple times to purchase a flight from PIT to SYD and it would not work with the NSW25 code. I did everything the promo code rules stated, but everytime I tried purchasing a flight with the code it would not work. I tried for the past four days at different times, on different devices, at some point I just needed to buy the flight and thus was not able to use the code.

Hi Amy, thanks for our review. I have checked the booking and unfortunately the dates we have booked were what was requested when the flights ere paid for. The price to fix this is mostly made up of fare difference, the month you wish to move to is much more expensive than the flights currently booked. Without paying this difference to the airline we are unable to change the flight. If you wish to cancel I can authorise the team to waive the agency fee but the airline fee still would apply.
