Stripe... As you all know, they're a credit card payment processors. But not just that. They tend to lie to new business owners.
We all know how Stripe are harsh with their standards towards accepting new businesses. I knew that from the beginning.
However, I contacted Stripe, MAKING sure that my line of business is actually eligible for Stripe's standards. They went through my website and confirmed that my business is indeed eligible!
They told me, I have nothing to worry about, all i have to do is verify my ID and you're good to go! Which i did. Now they have my personal information stored...
After few payments made by clients, i received an email stating that they are going to close my account for restricted business model and fraudulent payments...
"We recently identified payments on your Stripe account that don't appear to have been authorized by the customer, meaning that the owner of the card or bank account didn't consent to these payments."
The funny part is, we only accept 3DS payments, therefore the client needs to authenticate in order to process the charge. We have set of rules implemented into our Radar fraud, stating that any CC that does not
Permit 3DS gets to be blocked.
Their message towards closing my account doesn't make any sense, now they're going to refund all my clients who got the service done.
P. S: The line of business is Web design & Branding. Which they completely approved upon signing up.
Conclusion: DO NOT trust Stripe whatsoever. Moving on onto another Payment providers.
Our very first transaction made through our Stripe account, they emailed us to say they were refunding the customer, GBP99. It's now 6 weeks since the payment left the payee's account, Stripe simply kept the payment, it did not come to us and Stripe have not honoured their word! This is not a professional company and they can not be TRUSTED! Would you let them handle GBP1000 or GBP*******... Stay away from these common thieves.
If you want to issue your customers a refund, because they bought the wrong item or they change their mind, STRIPE WILL KEEP 2.9% OF EVERY TRANSACTION AND REFUND.
IF YOU HAVE A HIGH PROFIT MARGIN or don't allow refunds, maybe you are ok, but if your customer ever files a chargeback, STRIPE WILL IMMEDIATELY DEDUCT ALL PAYMENT, PLUS THE 2.9% FEE AND ADDITIONAL $15 CHARGEBACK FEE.
ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS, A DOUBLE CHARGE WAS PROCESSED AND AFTER ISSUING A SINGLE REFUND, STRIPE ALSO RETAINS THE 2.9% FEE CLAIMING IT THE DOUBLE CHARGE IS NOT DUE TO THEM.
STAY AWAY FROM STRIPE! SOFTWARE DOESN'T WORK AND STRIPE STEAL AND LIE. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
You cannot get past Go with Stripe because if you need cash from YOUR EFFORTS with EMPOWER, they limit you to $50.00, even if you made $100 to $500, that day! STRIPES is actually CONTROLLING YOUR MAN HOURS and the HOLDING YOUR FUNDS. They could be playing stocks with money that is NOT theirs and then they charge you a fee. In other words if you are dire straights, worked hard with EMPOWER, this payment place will discourage you from getting the money YOU PUT THERE. They are NOT A BANK and for people struggling (lets face it, Ride Sharing don't have Rich drivers), they can hurt you with these very low limiits on Transfers to Your bank!
When we set up a funding platform, we research and it seems that Stripe was getting good reviews but then after approval of verification, we got an email informing us they will not service us and deemed us high-risk, didn't meet their terms and services and claimed that someone who paid did not approve the payment. We asked for details but all we got is the same response that they will not service us without giving us a chance to figure out what happened.
We are a non-profit organisation that just started to ask for support for our sports association. What hurts the most is that they are now asking us to pay them so they can refund our donors! Since we are new, account is new, there is not enough money after their service charge to refund everyone and they are asking us to debit money to refund our donors?
How is this fair? We are already having the headache of trying to explain to our donors why this is happening and hopefully our reputation is not going to be damaged before we can even start!
So now not only did they create this mess but they will continue to take their payment, asking us to add more money to refund the donors? How is this ok?
This is a rather large payment organisation who still can't get it right? I do not know how are they evaluating their customers, through just algorithm? They should know by now they also need human logic and better customer service before they start to lose all their customers!
Denied me and my customer hasn't been refunded so I never got paid! My time is money, I did the work and am still waiting on your end to refund my customer so he can pay me.
If you are running a small business, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Each transaction is a 7day WAIT for your deposit. If you have any issues. You will not get them resolved at all! This has caused me nothing but massive stress and I have been in business over 13 years and they are destroying me!
Worst what you can find and use for your business!
No any help on disputes and chargebacks - scammers/fraudlers can easy get your product for free. You will lose all chargebacks!
I attached trackings, photos... etc... that my customers received items but what next? Customer can easy open dispute and win it, You will lose your money, product and will pay additional fee for chargeback.
Also they have 10% holds on all your transactions, and you will not receive this 10% reserve, bacause every 2 months they will delay date when you must receive it.
Worst! Do not use this payment gateway!
WE NEED TO SUE THE CRAP OUT OF THESE MONEY-LAUNDERING THIEVING CROOKS!
They are using their employees as scapegoats and fraudulently holding payments and closing accounts using their "bank" as an excuse. These people are so full of S*** it's not even funny.
They should be hung or burned at thew stake like the old days for stealing or "holding" probably millions, maybe even billions of dollars from people just trying to make a living selling online and THEIR CUSTOMERS
They also offer no support and don't even have a phone number to call
Don't believe a word they say on their website because it's all BS
They will not pay out in 2 days and then they will not even pay out at all!
They have every excuse in the book to STEAL YOUR MONEY and even worse, you will send your customers their orders and be stuck with even LESS than they are holding!
YOU WILL GET SCREWED WORSE THAN A DRUNK PROSTITUTE IN AN ORGY
STAY AWAY!
I have been using Stripe for my business online payments since 2019 with a verified business account. Recently, they sent me an email that my account is not verified, and the payouts are on pause without any prior notice. In response to my objection, they rubbed their TOS in my face. Helpless, I started the verification process all over again with no changes in details I provided day one. The account status changed to "verified" yet they are still holding my payouts with no explanation for the past week leaving my business in financial problems and me with severe emotional distress. I have reached to support to hear "our specialist team is still reviewing your account" several times for the past week. They won't direct me to a supervisor or someone in charge and refrain from giving any explanation as to my account status. I am left with all the troubles they have caused me but their action and no one gets back to you or an explanation but some support member with no power in addressing your issues.
Please don't get me wrong! If you want in, they are all smile, help, support, etc. in the best way you could imagine, but once they want to hold your money, the disguise is off, and you'll see the real Stripe and their customer support.
I strongly recommend to stary away from Stripe at all costs.
I had a Facebook Marketplace store that I used to raise funds for our animal rescue at Christmas time. Someone ordered a pair of earrings last week and I shipped them off immediately because they are a friend of mine. They paid via Facebook payments, which go to Stripe. When I didn't see the money in my Paypal, I went into my Facebook Marketplace settings and discovered that (most likely an old volunteer) set up an account with Stripe to receive payments from Facebook. Luckily, until now, most people have used Paypal directly instead of going through Facebook to make a purchase. However, there is money in the Stripe account, and they are refusing to send it to me until July 25. In addition, they claimed that the payment for the earrings came through TODAY - even though I know they were paid for a week ago and were shipped then.
As soon as I get my money, I'm leaving Stripe and telling everyone to steer clear. Fees are more than Paypal, customer service is non-existent, and everything I'm seeing tells me their security is non-existent. I predict they won't be around much longer. I'm also sending an email to the Treasury Department about them.
They are the worst, a complete scam. NEVER USE STRIPE. They kept clawing back money months after the order was placed and shipped. Even after providing DHL Tracking number they took thousands of dollars. MORE THAN BITTER EXPERIENCE. THEY ARE A FRAUD!
I don't recommend this service at all- before opening our account we contacted customer service several times about our business. After the first week they said we were high risk and said that they were going to refund our clients (7 clients $7,500). I have never heard of anything like this, nevertheless it is what it is. We have had to contact Support everyday with no answer finanally they put 6 of our payments for refunds schedule for 5-10 business days. One of the refunds has not been processed and I have contacted support everyday with no response. HEY STRIPE WE NEED OUR CUSTOMERS LAST PAYMENT REFUNDED SO WE CAN TALK TO OUR CUSTOMER ABOUT PAYING FOR A SERVICE WE HAVE ALREADY PROVIDED.
I honestly wondered if my interactions with them were a prank.
Stripe held onto $437 through several exchanges by telling me that I had broken their rules using Stripe to power a raffle. Meanwhile, they are the only payment option available on RaffleRiver.com.
They were not rude to me during our interactions. More like, they kept telling me things and asking for things that were so unacceptable, I kept wondering if someone was playing a prank.
If you want to use Stripe to power event registration / ticket purchasing, they do several insane things:
1) They hold onto a percentage of your sales indefinitely for "dispute resolution" purposes
2) They make you provide your contract with your event venue, and any contracts you have with other suppliers
But they bury both of these things in the red tape, and they don't have a "You can't move forward unless you provide..." function. They wait until they have your money and then they make you jump through hoops.
I closed my account after I got my final transfer and I'm happy to be gone.
I was supposed to get paid through stripe and they refuse to answer my emails for months on end I finally contacted the better business bureau and made a report and they responded to me within 2 days today. Let me fix my bank account. They let me fix my email but now they won't even try to send my pay. So my next step is to report them again to the better business bureau and maybe they'll respond to that. This is a worthless company. They have no contact information. All you can do is email them over and over and over again and they still won't contact you. No phone number to contact them. No nothing. I don't know how any company could want to use them to pay their customers because half the time they don't get paid. If you look it up, there are hundreds of reviews talking about how horrible this company is. Then they tried to tell the better business bureau they have gotten back to me and then I just did it wrong until I sent the better business bureau proof of what I did. So to all you people out there are getting screwed over by stripe. Make a report on them maybe sooner or later they'll go out of business.
I was working for point pickup witch pays through stripe. So I loste debt card and stripe refuses to change my debit card so I can get paid out. They still owe me 200 plus dollars that they are keeping. And when you get to look up point pickup or stripe on the better Business bureau the company won't even come up to make a bad review. I hope people see this and not sight up for this. This company will take ur money and give you every reason not to pay you. And what's worse is they have no phone to call. So all you can do is email them and hope the email you back. But they won't if I could find out were they are located at I would blow up there building
Stripe, unlike PayPal, does not take responsibility for scams or products not received. I bought a mobile scooter which I have not received. I have no recourse through stripe, to get my money back.
Don't use this company as a processor. They are the worst. They make up stories on why they can't release your money to you. NO LEGITIMATE REASONS WHAT SO EVER. They are over priced and offer limited options and of course you don't get your money for two weeks. DON'T USE THEM.
I wrote a review previously about Stripe ( negative like the rest). Anyone interested in a class action lawsuit? Looks like they are as crooked as it gets and they just keep getting away with it.
So we have started a business and we use strip for our payment method and if our customers spend 100 or more our accounts get put on freeze guys don't use the they are rubbish
Answer: Hi Jon, I'm sorry that you're having trouble with disputes -- they can be frustrating! Unfortunately, when your customer initiates a dispute with their bank, it's the bank that begins an investigation and makes the determination on who gets to keep the funds -- and often times, they do favor the customer. This process is facilitated by credit card networks, but Stripe helps with this process by submitting evidence that you provide, such as tracking numbers. Although we can't make disputes go away, we do try our best to make them a bit easier to manage. As a bit of background on how the dispute process works, the minute that we learn about a dispute from your cardholder's bank, the funds and an additional fee are taken out of our account. In the event that you're able to win a dispute, we return the full amount of the charge and the fee to you, though the fee that we are assessed is not returned to us by the bank. We return that fee because we feel strongly that businesses shouldn't be penalized for disputes that are resolved in their favor. Because it is expensive for us to return those fees in instances were the dispute is resolved in the business's favor, we aren't able to return the fees at other times. In addition, since disputes are a forced refund by the cardholder’s bank and not a voluntary one on your part, you remain responsible for the processing fees for the initial transaction. It can be tricky for even experienced businesses to understand how to handle a dispute, so we've spent time documenting the various circumstances under which a payment can be disputed, and how best to handle each -- I'd recommend taking a look at https://stripe.com/help/disputes to learn more. Please also take a look at https://stripe.com/help/disputes#how-can-i-prevent-disputes to learn more about preventing disputes. I hope this helps shed some light on our approach here. Again, I'm sorry that dealing with disputes are frustrating. Stripe actively dedicates resources to making this problem better and, over time, go away entirely. We can certainly look into your account and these specific disputes, if you'd like, if you send us a message at https://support.stripe.com/email.
Answer: These are the most significant crooks in the industry but they will get what they deserve I joined a group how will exposed there behavior. It is impossible that they can keep on operating and not get arrested
Stripe has a rating of 1.2 stars from 447 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Stripe most frequently mention customer service, high risk and credit card. Stripe ranks 188th among Payment Processing sites.
