I opened a Stripe account to get paid for the articles I write on Medium. However, right after I entered all my information as an individual, I instantly received an email saying that my account activation has been denied "due to high risk." I sent an email asking for the reason, but the customer service rep replied that my account poses high financial risk according to their Terms and Conditions (?) I read all the Terms and Conditions thoroughly, and I have not violated any clause at any moment in time. I also took the time to read about what they consider a "high-risk business" and my business objective does not fall into any of those categories.
I am just trying to get paid for a legitimate reason: the articles I have written, which are already published and being read on Medium! I am not a business dealing with drugs or laundering money or anything listed as high risk.
Anyway, the only response I got from Stripe was "... we have done a thorough review of your account, and we will be unable to reverse our decision. We are unable to provide any further details regarding the reason for your account's closure in order to protect our processes." This is SO FRUSTRATING!
The worst part is that Medium does not accept any other means to pay out to their writers, or provide other support. Medium's customer service was far less helpful and asked me to deal with Stripe on my own. So, I have no way to get paid. Absolute nonsense!
I've been waiting since more than 5 days now for a migration, pinging 3 times a days and have sent more than 15 requests, to no avail they do not care about their customers, stay away at all cost
I hate stripe! I hate Steipe! I really hate stripe! It's hard enough to live out here without waiting 19 years to get paid everytime…. I have to sit and watch for a week or more before I can even access the money it's showing!
I fly drones and Dronebase use Sreipe, it's such a pain I don't even want to fly for dronebase anymore…. Today is Saturday June 25th…… the money has been showing in my account for three days but it's not actually in there yet…. And I flew the jobs over a week ago……. It can't take 2 weeks to get paid a measly $100……
Every other payments are instant now a days and with stripe you have to wait weeks…… ridiculous!

We are shop owners and had two sales reversed by stripe for over £2500. We sent out parcels for Orders. But then then customers say the item is faulty. Stripe immediately reversed the payment even without checking with us first. We lost these 5 products and lost the money resulting in total of £4000 lost as we didn't get the products back after the complaint was made. Stripe immediately takes a customers side and the retailer loses all this money. We have had enough of them and moving to new service. If you're a retailer don't use stripe they don't care about you losing your products and losing your sale money.
We are honest reputable company Smithers of Stamford. It's just shocking that stripe automatically takes the customer side and refunds without even giving us time to submit proof. One order was 3 months ago we disputed and we've sent over proof of shipping with DPD. We still did not get this money back. Be very aware of stripe if your a shop. The service is fraudulent sometimes.

They say that my business is of high risk, but I have never had any problem. It is a shame for the USA Authorities that they do not lead the Mafia of Stripe in Prison. Stay away from Stripe. They are CRIMINALS and Big Scammers.
I was trying to start my own company, I used stripe as a CC processor for my clients. I finally started getting business, invoices were getting paid. All payments cleared without an issue I was stoked! Go to cash out my money to my business account so I could pay bills associated with my business. Stripe tells me I'm to high risk, after taking money from my clients, having their money clear after weeks. Then tell me they are refunding all of my processed CCs, on services which were already rendered. Stripe does not allow phone calls, only email communication. They refuse to explain why I am high risk ( No payments on my account were ever returned). I operated under all their business principals as requested. Nobody will contact me and explain why out of the blue I am blacklisted or how I'm suppose to recover the money they already took from my clients. Now I'm out 1000 dollars and my business will likely fold. They should not be allowed to do business with anyone. There should be a class action lawsuit against stripe.
Stripe is the most painful way if you would like to start your own online business as the support is the worst in the world.
I did the mistake to ask a difficult question regarding the new SCA (Strong Customer Authentication).
They did not even respond to my question and closed my account without any reason.
This is not how you should treat your customers.
Therefore, never ever again with Stripe, bad vibes, bad company.
So to sum up:
DO NOT USE STRIPE FOR YOUR START UP. STRIPE SUCKS!

Worst company I've ever worked with. They are refusing to payout my money. They have stolen over $500.00 from me. May not be much to some, but I now can not buy my child's school supplies!
Allocations are a nightmare. Stripe is taking out their commission and the remaining amount is paid into your account, several client transactions in one payment - reconciliations are extremely difficult and I've never received one invoice from Stripe for their commission. They simply deduct their share and transfer the rest to you without any paper trail. In addition, every time there is a dispute, it is never settled in the seller's favour even when the supporting evidence and paperwork supplied to Stripe clearly shows that the purchase was valid, agreed and approved by the buyer, signed-off by them and the service used by them. The response from Stripe is never in the seller's favour. Finally - it happens at least a few times a month that Stripe rejects the transaction as suspicious and prevents prospects from buying our products. It often happens that clients contact us outside of the Stripe's workflow and finalise payment manually because Stripe is rejecting their cards and by extension is not allowing us to close the sale.
Our account with Stripe was closed on 4th May. At which point we had $28,362 in our Stripe account. Money which we had received from our customers and were waiting on Stripe to payout to our bank account.
To this day (26th June) they are still holding all of this money.
Stripe customer support send very generic emails with little specific information. They keep repeating that our account is under review (it's already closed so what is there to review?) and they will update me when the review is complete.
They refuse to say when the review will be complete and they also refuse to rule out keeping the money.
This "review" has so far taken 7 weeks, I have no idea how long it will take (months, years?).
We desperately need the money to finance our day to day operations and it's causing an unbelievable amount of stress. Despite this they refuse to send us our money.
I strongly recommend people to avoid using Stripe. Because they are so large you feel totally helpless when something goes wrong and there is nothing you can do. You are at the mercy of them. There is no escalating your problem. You just get bounced off random people in a call centre somewhere.
Our account has been denied when we are not a telemarketing company, do no use stripe, the customer service team will no respond and will block you account. (Especially to minorities).
Opened an account less than a month ago. Made 3 sales and on the 2nd one, they claimed that charge was fraudulent when customer clearly told us that they approved everything with their bank.
Stripe in return refunds ALL the transactions WITHOUT warning AND KEEPS THE TRANSACTION FEES even after refunding.
Stay the heck away from these crooks. They will wait until you get large transactions in your account and find a way to steal your money while disabling your account. Its been 2 weeks and one of the transactions still have not been refunded yet they have chipped their fees from their final balance while they hold it there. They will not send it to you either.
100x Worse than PayPal. Never thought i would say that.
Keep your business AWAY from these thieves.
If something is wrong, they gonna suspend your account and any ways to contact them. And you won't see your money ever again.

Stripe - stay away! They will keep your funds for months with no reason and no updates. Their foreign call center is adept at avoiding any kind of service and will not answer your questions.
They have suspended my account that we set up for a golf tournament for someone who has cancer and now there's money in there and they will not deposit into my bank which they have in the past or even refund back to the card holder so they can repay for the tournament. And of course they don't have a phone number to talk to anyone. It's a total BS company and I would NOT RECOMMEND anyone to use them.
We set up a stripe acct with my company as we put a benefit golf tournament together for a good friend who has cancer, we were using it so our friends can pay online. Well after a couple weeks stripe shut down my acct because they felt my business is a risk. We have payments that were made and they are not transferring them to my bank acct, which they have done for a few weeks. The issue is we need these payments refunded so the cardholders can pay us direct. At first we were told they would be refunded by 10/8 which is fine as the tournament is on 10/20, now they say the refunds won't happen until Nov. This is so unacceptable the money is not theirs! To top it off there is NO WAY to speak to anyone, I WILL NEVER us this company again and I would highly advise anyone thinking about using stripe to find a different avenues.
I can fully agree "I really like the idea of your services, but thanks to you I'm going to get sued and bankrupt by my clients, because you guy are holding the funds that was transferred to my account"
Anyone using Stripe should be fully aware before considering this kind of "Payment System" of one clause in their Terms and conditions which is the most important one and the only one which really count. "Stripe can hold funds for any reason" Anyone would agree that giving money to a stranger who does not give you a phone number or any physical address is just stupid, yet many business owners considering using stripe doing exactly that. Stripe is Big cheats... I am a merchant from india, i had used stripe as one of the payment option on my website everything went fine and suddenly i received a transaction dispute notice, for which i had already delivered the product to the customer and even submitted the PROOF of delivery to the seller panel and the dispute is won on my favour - stated by the bank on the 1 AUG 2020 but till date i haven't received the payment in my bank account and the payout date keeps changing since 1 AUG now its more then 1 month there is no response from the support team at all. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO STRIPE - AS THE MERCHANT WILL ENDUP LOOSING THE PRODUCT SHIPPED AND NOT EVEN RECEIVE THE PAYMENT. So ITS A LOSS - LOSS SITUATION. I will update my review once my issue is resolved. Till then i consider STRIPE as the Biggest Cheaters.
I had an account with those scammers, they closed it even though our business is on the allowed list of businesses and we had 1 refund in all that period, one day they decided to close it out of nowhere saying it posed high risk of chargebacks
Those scammers have been holding my money for almost 150 days now more than the requested 120 days and each time they postpone and reply with bot messages, I sent a request to the Better Business Bureau and will start legal actions with a lawyer against the scamming operation in the shadows
