I had about 4-5 VHS tapes converted to DVD. They came back labeled and dated and they also returned my original materials, though it was not expected. They also sent me emails along the way to let me know how it was progressing. If I ever have to use them again, I would be happy to.
I have trusted south tree with precious 8 and 16 mm film that my mother had dating back to the 1940's. Sure did not want to lose these precious memories that our family wasn't even sure what was on them. South tree did not disappoint. Transactions were uncomplicated and communications were timely and professional. I have also used their services to convert cassettes. Equally satisfied. They are my #1 to go to and should be yours as well.
The quality of the digital transfer of my cassette tapes was very good. The technicians, however, paid no attention to the holders in which the tapes were originally. I had to spend 45 minutes putting the tapes back in their original cases. That kind of sloppiness was disappointing.
I purchased the package through QVC which advertised a quicker turn around time for processing. I sent in 8 home movies on February 9,2022 and received two thumb drives only today, June 2,2022. If this a quick turn around time, I'm wondering what's the normal turn around time. Although my movies were packed very carefully, the thumb drives were placed in an unmarked gray envelope at the bottom of the box. Although I am familiar with thumb drives, even a form letter from Southtree would have been nice. Also, I was told that because only 5 of the 8 movies were salvageable, a credit would be offered but no refund because I purchased it through a third party (QVC).
I had some old reel-to-reel home movies that were about 55 years old. I had previously tried to have them converted to DVD by a local company, but was told they were too old and degraded. As I had nothing to lose by trying Southtree, I boxed them up and mailed them. The process was very simple; just put the bar codes on and send them in the box that was included. I was very surprised and pleased that my home movies were able to be preserved! The quality of the DVD is remarkable considering what they had to work with! I am extremely satisfied!
13 weeks since my original order and still NOTHING. They have had my money for too long with no action. Will now start refund process with my credit card co. Amazing that these people are still in business... they have my cash and have promised delivery over and over with no action. Maybe reporting them to the TN atty general will help get my home movies back so I can get them converted by someone reputable! DO NOT order from these people... you will be sorry if you do!
Excellent communication and good quality work. When I told them I lost the thumb drive after the job was done and delivered to me, they offered to the whole job again for free, charging only for the new blank thumb drive and postage. They managed to capture the audio from an old cassette tape which I was unable to play on my cassette player. I am very pleased.
I sent my tape in December, the only sound of my mother's voice I had left. Southtree received it on Dec 14... and promptly lost it. When I inquired about my tape in mid-January, I received a form response. Now that it has been well over a month, I still am only getting pat replies from the company. I have asked to speak with a manager but so far no luck. LOUSY customer service after a devastating loss! I wouldn't recommend sending them ANYTHING you truly cherish.
We've used Southtree twice to convert VHS and slides into a digital format and I am very pleased with their work. Once I placed my order I received emails explaining the status of my order. It may take some time but it is because they get it right the first time!

I sent my wedding video (that was on an old video recorder tape) in to Southtree and I was super nervous because it's irreplaceable and we've never watched it (this July will be 12 years!)... but Southtree kept me updated every step of the way, from sending me the initial box to ship it back it, to receiving it, to each step of the transformation and then the shipping info! I will be using this company for life!

Awful. I really regret sending them my audio tapes. Both shipments of audio tapes were sent to them around the same time. They rearranged the order of two of the tapes with noise of the endings or beginnings of songs in between. I waited 13 weeks from the time they said they received them until I received them back. What a disappointment. The other audio tape I sent had two or three songs merged together where I could not skip ahead to the individual songs. Awful, awful service. After reading all the negative reviews I won't even bother writing them. At least I got my originals back. I feel bad for all the folks who had Southtree lose their memories. I got off light.
Everything went as we were told and we were quite pleased - glad to have it done. There were just a few instances where the movie was flickering perhaps not your fault. I was quite sure I had already done this, but here it is. WE would use the service again.

It was up to me to put my slides in groupings of 25. The two boxes came with all of the labels. I bagged them up, barcode labeled them and they were off. Returned to me in the same individual bags and we opted for a digital download. Seamless process.

I am so happy we decided to have our photos scanned and loaded on a thumb drive. I sent in 500 photos and I had pictures of my grandparents from the 1940's and they turned out so well. I am now going to send in our VHS movies. Highly recommend this company

A year later, without letting anyone know, the deleted all of the online media and told me it can't be recovered. On top of this, they continue to charge me for a service which they stopped providing, and refuse to refund.

I had less than 5" reels / tapes of recordings that went back to 1967. I was on the DMZ in Korea and my parents talked to me via the recording and my Father sang a song. I was very impressed at the quality of the CD provided by Southtree. I appreciate the memories. J
Took over half a year to get my 9 Hi-8 video and 1 audio cassettes digitized and the quality after the long wait was a huge disappointment. The audio transfer was especially bad. Would not recommend at all.

Overall, Southtree is a very professional company for handling our video tapes, processing them, and sending me back the links to keep my memories, always keeping very well communicated. The quality is good enough, considering that the video tapes are old and I understand that, in some cases, the years have taken the toll on analog recordings.
The only thing that I didn't agree is that I've been charged for 3 extra items, to then being told that the quality was bad and couldn't be processed. I have been offered credits for the future, but I don't have anything to use them. I recommend that extra charge is paid after the quality have been checked.
