on 4/17/15Do not I repeat do not send them your precious memories Mina have yet to be returned and are most likely lost forever a lawsuit is my next option but no amount of money is going to ever replace those memories!
I was extremely disappointed with SouthTree. They are all hype and show. They do nothing to attempt to enhance the video quality, even though there are products out there to do so. I even used a Groupon and still paid out the nose. I found out later that I could have had the same work done locally for LESS than what my Groupon price was. Use your money wisely and shop elsewhere. You're wasting your money at SouthTree
I'm surprised they managed even a 46% rating. My experience was just the opposite. It took six months and numerous emails to receive my order. Each email reply stated they were in the final process, and I would receive my dvds in the next week. Never happened. Maybe your luck will be better, but a truly professional business shouldn't have to rely on customer luck. I'd definitely look elsewhere.
I received everything back in a timely manner. It may be for the shipping, or the quality. My 8mm film wasn't very clear, but then they are over 50 years old and I was thinking they wouldn't be very good. The VHS was better, but still not like what it was before. Not sure if this is common or not.
I find it strange that there are no reviews, good or bad, since 2015. Over the past couple of months I've placed three orders of various sizes and media. I've had nothing but excellent results. The ORDERING process makes me crazy but that's a different issue. I highly recommend them.
One thing I did was put a mailing address label on all my VHS tapes before mailing them out. I ended up with great service and great DVDs.
All I can suggest is just give them a test run first. 1 or 2 tapes. I had a great experience.
I loved the finished product they produced!
I can only speak of the experience I had. I'm very pleased with the quality of products and customer service. But maybe try a small sampling to see how you like it and not risk losing all your precious memories. I was nervous also but took the chance. Next I'm sending all my old photos because I was so pleased with with my vcr tapes into dvd's.
I can only speak about my experience with Southtree. My late husband was a musician and I wanted to preserve all his music that I had. I had 36 yrs. Of music. I had reel to reel, 8track VHS tapes and cassettes. Stutter digitalized every one of these and I had a lot! They kept me informed every step of the way and the final outcome was more than I ever expected... I am delighted to have my music protected and I cannot say enough good about Southtree. My experience was so good that it is hard for me to imagine some of the negative responses that I have read on here...
I had over 40 tapes done. They kept me up to date with what's going on with them, from receiving the, UPC'ng them, starting to process them and when they send them back, when I should receive them. They know how precious these are to us and I felt very assured my treasures were in good hands.
I can only speak for myself but I had wonderful results. I sent about 55 VHS tapes at various times over several months. That was after my initial order which was a 56-year-old Super 8 film. Everything came back and every DVD worked except one which was promptly replaced. I sent everything via USPS with tracking, but I always got an email telling me they had received my shipment. I also got updates until the time they sent them back with tracking. One of the steps in the processing is to label each submission and those are scanned throughout the process. I know no one is infallible but I had great results.
