1- Bait and switch: false initial fare then they hike it either before or after you pay.
2- False claim that you get free cancellation within 24 hours. Agents insist on charging $350/passenger because "that's what the airlines charge, not us"

I booked my trip with this company but I received reservation for another trip( trip same but layover 32 hours). When I called them and ask what's going on why I got wrong confirmation and they said" we don't know how it's happened" but if you want to cancel or make a changes please pay $350 for each passenger. I was on the phone couple hours but nothing changed and paid $1050 for 3 passengers. When I ask can I have a receipt for this transaction they said "NO". It was my mistake that I paid this amount. Later I called to airline and ask about fee for changes tickets and price was $150 for each passenger not $350. Please avoid this SCAM company.
Booked 2 tickets, no confirmation of airfare. After HOURS on the phone with these people I was told I had to PAY MORE to get the confirmation. I stated NO. Without PERMISSION they debited our card more money and have promised a refund NONE hAVE COME. SCAMERS allll the way
Don't fall into their trap. The low prices they advertise are NOT real! They will not confirm your booking and then will tell you that you need to pay more because the price has changed. Their customer service is also argumentative and unprofessional. Avoid.
As someone that travels extremely and uses a lot of booking agents, I can officially confirm that Smart Fares is the worst company I have ever come across, and is a complete SCAM.
After finding a flight and booking it through SmartFares, I get a confirmation email and code. Two days later, I noticed my card had still not be charged- so checked my spam email (it is now one day before my flight). Lo and behold, there is an email in my space folder from SmartFares. They inform me that a small charge has been put on my card, and i need to confirm the amount to complete the booking!
I do so and call them, and they tell me that now it is too late and the booking has gone up by 300usd to over 1100. I ask why they don't clarify this in their email, and tell people to check their spam- and he said all emails are different.
I check online for the SAME flight, and see other companies still selling the SAME ticket for 950! The agent asks me if I want to pay more than i originally approved, and more than all the other companies out there. And of course i say no!
I then read up about Smart Fares online and see SO many people have had experiences like this- where they say you have a "confirmed" booking, then refuse to honor it and try and sell you a more expensive one. Also, if you decide to cancel the booking- they then charge you a 30$ cancellation fee! Think of how many people they are trying to pull that cancellation fee out of!
This company is really a complete scam, and I seriously advise no one book with them.
This is such a scam, they advertise a lower price then when you go to book the flight it tells you a higher one sometimes almost double. Then when you call they negotiate prices? Ok, anyway whatever gets me a lower price. Then they realize they went too low and recant the offer. I understand prices fluctuate but when the prices haven't changed for two weeks and you tell me they change all the time it becomes s bait and switch. I am a very frustrated traveler right now, it's a waste of time DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY AND NOW THEY HAVE MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION. THEY TOLD ME 282.00 ON THE SITE AND CAME BACK WITH 425.00.
Beware of using this site. I got the flight I was looking for. Then I found out that I can't upgrade from an economy seat to an extra-leg seat. Bah!
The worst costumer crevice. They promised they would have my confirmation in 1 hour, but when I called back 3 hours later, they told me the reservation is not available at the price and now it will cost me $90 more. It actually was last minute flight reservation.
Total scam! Do not go for their chip price. You will pay more at the end! Never have business with them!

They offer you great prices get your credit card info and send you a confirmation #. Then they will send you another email a few hours later saying there was a problem, you must call immediately. This is where they try to UPSELL you to pay hundreds more for the same flight or a new one. Don't use this site.
Smartfares! They will offer a deeply discounted airfare and send you a confirmation number to your email. The next day you will receive an email to call them immediately because they were unable to confirm your flight. When you call them back, they will try to sell you another flight at a much higher price.

They are manipulative and have a very harsh sales techniques, they make you think you are paying small amounts then they add more amounts to the bill, be very careful when you are looking at the final amount you are paying, cause they will add costs without you realizing. Smart fares are big SCAM and are big thieves.
My friends and I booked a Galapagos trip through this company and didn't figure out our tickets were canceled until we got to the airport that morning. We were completely screwed because all of the other flights to the islands were already booked. We had no reservation under our names and the company didn't bother to tell us until we called them to ask why we couldn't get on our flight. Long story short, don't book with them unless you want to lose thousands of dollars. Pay the extra to book directly through the airlines.
Do no buy with this company. They book me trough Delta, and the airline had the news to rebook me due to the long waiting lines in TSA and we went through hell. The desk attendant bin Delta told me she has never seem that many restrictions and could no even verify the correct information in the sistem. No to add if you call them they verily speak English and are very very rude.
They charged extra fee $270 to change flight date without my permission! I said I want to use another credit and it wasn't disconnected. And I thought it is just hold. But they already changed flight date and charged $270 from my bank account. She was supposed to hold because I didn't give any permission to charge. This agent is so suck, please do not use this agent!
It is just a scam dont ever use it, all the flight searching engine should remove it from the list

Offer coupon codes but then say oh it doesnt apply to yours because it doesnt have any stops. And when you call them out on there BS they hang up on you.
Smart fares is SCAM. Watch out reviews on trustpilot well. Most of the reviews are fake... Don't use it.
They advertise cancellation is free within 24 hours, but charges $35 to cancel the reservation. Just book directly with t and e airline
