Smartfares deducted more money that what was necessary, and I have not been reimbursed with the difference. I have sent numerous emails regarding the issue, and the last email just stated that it will be reviewed, but nothing happened after that. Smartfares still owes me the difference. I explained that the information I had entered was what was required by the form, that no additional information was requested, and that it seemed like an abuse to try to confuse the user by charging them an extra fee. On the next call, they offered me a $150 discount for correcting each ticket. I reiterated that this was an abuse.

This company is running a scam. They offer tickets at incredibly low prices and then send you an email with a reference number. But they aren't actually giving you a ticket even though they collect the money. Then they send an email saying there is an issue with your flight and to contact them. When speaking with then they say the price has been changed and you need to pay an additional amount in order to keep your ticket, or they say the flight has been sold out and you will need to pay more for a ticket on a different day. But you only have 24 hours to respond to them or change your ticket so if you purchase a ticket believing you have obtained a seat on a flight because you've paid for it they will say you need to pay more. If you try to cancel after the 24 hour period I'm sure they charge some kind of a fee and that's where the scam is. They don't have tickets available at the price they're listing and once you've purchased a ticket they will try and get more money from you after you've paid for a ticket they don't have.
The setup of the website seemed "basic", seemingly early 2000s dotcom format. But everything seemed to have worked out. I subtracted a star for the website's appearance.

I actually went on Cheaplights' web page, but ended up paying Smart Fares without leaving Cheapflights. After credit card payment was stopped, Smart Fares submitted another request for payment and it was paid. No one answered my phone call to Smart Fares but Truecaller showed it was a number in Rwanda.

I bought a ticket which included fares and taxes but not all of them. So the site called me like an hour after the transaction and told me I had a payment missing. I admit I didn't check it didn't include that tax but also I think they should warn you about it
This was my first time ever purchasing a ticket through SmartFares. Price, easy website navigation, and purchasing experience were all good. HOWEVER, a rep started to call the day after to sell me their insurance. She called three times and asked if I would like to purchase the protection insurance. To be clear, that option was already available when I was purchasing the ticket, so I would have bought it if I felt it was necessary. There was no need for three extra marketing phone calls.
Hi Smartfares! Clearly it's a Scam-fare and nothing smart about your broad day robbery! I just booked below ticket at from Ghana to Johannesburg via Kenyan Airways at R12,651.00. And confirmed to pay this amount at check out, only to find out that a completely different higher amount of R13,504.75 went off my credit card! I do not care about bull$#*! and lame excuse of exchange rate, this amount should be indicated at checkout with the exact amount either in USD or Rands. But no, I was lured along to believe I was paying R12,651.00 even at the final confirmation of my credit card as per below screen shots, only to have a different amount go off my bank account. I do not agree with this and demand an immediate refund of the over charged amount. WHAT A TERRIBLE BAD TASTE FROM A FIRST TIME USE OF SMARTFARES!

I booked a flight from Arusha to Zanzibar, using Smartfares because their cheapest fares. A couple a minutes passed before I received a call from Smartfares, telling me that there was a mistake and I had to pay 62% in addition to the original price. There was not any other alternative, but paying that extracost, which was immediately charged by them to my credit card without my confirmation. It was a terrible experience, the first and the last one with Smartfares.
It was very quick and easy and very budget friendly too. It only took 6-8 hours for the confirmation to be ticketed and confirmed which I think was great time

Don't book through this company because they will play games that trying to get you booked some other date than you picked and get more money out of you. I booked through them back in 2021 and unfortunately forgot and booked through them again last week and as usual they did the same thing but I'm glad that my card was locked and the payment didn't go through and they couldn't force my to pick other day and pay the difference or I will lose my money. I forgot to mention, they will claim that they can't give you the money back while relocating your flight so you either pay extra or you will lose the whole amount. Their customer service is terrible and they can't handle a simple situation. Worst experience ever and worst customer service. NEVER WILL BOOK THROUGH THEM NEVER.

I will never use them again. I travel for work and it was an option, so I decided to use them. I had to rebook due to not making my drop. They wanted me to pay an extra 300, so it wasn't worth it at all. Lesson learned because I lost almost 300. Will never use them again.

At first I was very stressed because I booked JHB/LUA/LIS 17th May returning LIS/LUA/JHB... When I paid the ticket. I saw that it was booked JHB/LUA and LUA/CPT... My reservation code for flight from Kuwait on Ethiopian Airlines was C0QW78. Airline confirmation code was emailed by Smart Fares on 18 April and the ticket number sent too. Then the flight was cancelled by Ethiopian airline due to unplanned circumstances, and I got a notification email on night of 25 April. I was asked by the airline representative to contact my travel agent or the website where I booked. I tried your Live chat to get help, with no response from the live chat although you say on your website there is 24/7 help. I emailed *******@smartfares.com on 26th April and was told to be patient. I was then contacted telephonically by Otis, from your customer service and told about the options I have. I could get a refund on my ticket but lose almost half the price I paid. Alternatively I could change my ticket for $296.00 USD.
I am extremely upset by having to pay anything when I am not responsible for the cancellation by the airline. I trust the airline would give you back 100% of the amount you paid them for that ticket. May I know what was your service charge for making the changes? And if I asked for a refund why should I be the one to take the loss of around USD 480? This, for an ordinary person is a lot of money.
