There is no reason to charge for one year subscription automatically after trial. Why didn't they change this horrible policy after months of complaints and bad reviews?

I've been teaching on Skillshare for 5 years. About a year ago they changed their terms and immediately invalidated half my classes without warning (this happened to many instructors).

I was annoyed but I worked with them to restore my classes. Just as the final classes were being restored (this is in 2021) my account completely disappeared. No email from Skillshare. Just poof, *gone*.

I reached out to their help desk and got a generic reply about terms and conditions, nothing specific at all. And so, just like that, my years of work down the drain. My main income source down the drain with it.

If you're thinking about Skillshare as an instructor then please don't even try it. Much better to build up your own website which YOU control (Wordpress is the easiest way to do this).

If you're a student, just know that they are purging top rated instructors with no reasoning whatsoever. Add to that the multiple accusations on the web of additional credit card charges and I'd strongly advise against signing up. You can get all the courses you need on Udemy anyway, without a monthly subscription!

Skillshare is Awesome
April 10, 2019

Skillshare is awesome. I was able to make my first iPhone App within two weeks of starting. The great Team Skillshare.com teachers can make even the most complicated programming subjects seem easy.

My SkillShare Review
April 10, 2019

I joined a web design company a year ago having no background in web design
Or development. Using SkillShare made it possible for me to learn at my own
Pace and choose different types of coding languages to work with. It started out
Slow going because I was so foreign to the web developer world, but I've been
Learning HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and Swift. Having a base knowledge of these
Items in the back of my mind has been very helpful and provided some value-add
When connecting with my clients.

That is not ok
February 26, 2018

It is not ok, to prey on people who forgot to delete the account. Without any warning, I lost a lot of money for premium membership I didn't now I even have. If you like your money then stay away.

Skillshare has been the most effective online method for learning to code for me after trying a few others that have failed to engage me. With a huge wealth of how-to web design, programming and business videos, Skillshare goes the extramile to create high-quality videos and an interesting learning experience. I can now code in HTML and CSS, and Skillshare's YouTube channel is awesome keeping up-to-date with new methods, scripts and hints.

I like the format where presenters walk you through the code. This is helpful for
New content. The layout of the content allows a person to select those areas

Not Worth the Money
June 26, 2022

I signed up during the lockdowns and it was probably worth the $99 at the time since I was stuck in the house. I used for a while but then life got busy again. I forgot I had it for a few months, then I changed banks. And Thank God I did! Tonight I went to log in and my account has been suspended. If I hadn't changed banks and forgot the account, they would have auto-charged me...$167.88 for a year of service. Really? $167? I went to find a discount code, and every code I tried said I couldn't use it because I wasn't a "new" member. Okay, then you don't get any of my money. Almost anything you can find on Skillshare you can find on Youtube, for free. $99 was pretty reasonable, but $167 is robbery. I had it for about 2 years, and in that time I think I used it a dozen times, if that, and not at all since mid-end of 2021. I'm so grateful I forgot to renew and it slipped my mind. At least now they can't auto over-charge me for something I used sporadically. Skip this overpriced service and use the free ones. You'll thank yourself later.
