Shutterfly's reputation reflects a mix of strong product quality and significant customer service challenges. Many users appreciate the quality of photo books and personalized items, often highlighting the durability of products. However, recurring complaints about service delays, order inaccuracies, and inadequate customer support overshadow these positives. Customers frequently report issues with refunds, communication breakdowns, and technical difficulties on the platform. This blend of satisfaction with product quality and frustration over service reliability suggests a need for Shutterfly to enhance its customer service approach to improve overall customer experience and retention.

My package was scheduled to be delivered over a week ago and I still haven't received anything. Needed the labels on a deadline and now am out of luck! I placed the order on March 26 with the quoted 7-10 day shipping which has long passed. I can't even comment on the quality of the items, but the shipping is disappointing. Will not use this company again.
Have made many purchases over the years. Always poor quality. Blurry, improperly cut out of people, etc. Shipping is very expensive and I just learned that if you order a feebee, the free shipping promotion does not apply! Time to move on from Shutterfly!
I placed an order for graduation announcements on 3/15. I received the order on 3/22 with the daughters' heads cut off in the picture. I reached out and was reassured they would correct the error and send me new graduation announcements free of charge. I received the "new" announcements on 3/28 with their heads cut off again. When I reached out again, I was told there was nothing they could do about it. To correct it, they told me to resubmit the order - even though they could not guarantee it wouldn't happen again.
I tried to order because it says Costco members get free shipping on orders 49$ or more and 51% off. It would end up being around the same price Costco used to sell their photos for. However, they don't tell you that the free shipping only applies if you have 49$ or more in the shipping cost, which makes it more than the cost of Walgreens or Fred Meyer. If you have a Costco membership you also don't get the option to get the 1- hour pick-up, you HAVE to ship it. Why waste my time with shutterfly when I can do same day with Fred Meyer, at least I know the photos will turn out great. Not to mention it took me 3 separate tries to used their "24/7 assistant" since it kept kicking me off when it was my turn. Waste of time.
The areas on my photo that were white came out yellow. It didn't even match the photo I uploaded, so I had to request a reprint, which means I have to wait another two weeks to receive my photos. Not sure why it takes two weeks to print a photo and stick it in the mail, but they need to come up with a better system for getting photos out within a reasonable amount of time.
I was nervous about all online card outfits but now glad I selected Shutterfly. I added two photos to a template, edited verbiage, created an envelope address list, all with intuitive online instruction, and invitations were delivered a day prior to estimate. I had all sent to my home to be mailed because I wanted to inspect the results first. No issues. The ink and print was great, the cards handsome, the cardstock good, envelopes handsome... it was a very pleasant experience and I endorse them copletely.
It's going to be a while before I know for sure if after 2 years and 25 contacts I stopped getting advertising Lifetouch ( they now own) snail mail cards to somebody else who never lived at my house. Now for the third time they're ignoring unsubscribe from emails warning on going to lose my Shutterfly photos when I don't have any in there and I haven't for over 20 years
I ordered several pictures of my disabled son's graduation day. I cropped the pictures carefully. When they processed them they cut heads off on two 5 x 7's. When I contacted them they said the two different pictures were the same picture which they were not and that I cropped them incorrectly. They said they would reprint the pictures as a "courtesy" but I had to pay almost $5 shipping and handling. The most they would offer was $1 off on shipping when it was their mistake. I was going to order several photo books from them because I have in the past and really enjoyed them. I'm going to find another site for my pictures and books because it really burns me when they want me to pay for their mistakes.
I paid over $100 for a photo book with expedited shipping to arrive for a special occasion. I spoke to 4-5 customer service representatives and they cannot put me in contact with a manager. One guy promised me overnight shipping to rectify the situation but someone today said it was not approved. So he lied. I used to order from them all the time, but never again. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
You will get a damaged blanket if you order from Shutterfly, and they will not service you, so do not buy on Shutterfly
I decided to order my annual photo book and Christmas cards in 2020 from them after receiving a coupon in the mail, rather than using my normal printing service. The book itself was pretty "meh" and the cards were fairly nice but what irked me happened before I ever got my book.
It was very obvious from the tracking information that my package had gotten lost. It was going in circles back and forth across the country daily. The book had shipped before the cards from the same order and I received the cards quickly after they left Shutterfly so I was getting worried about my book. I called into Shutterfly to ask what carrier service they use so I could contact them directly (obviously, Shutterfly isn't going to know what shenanigans the carrier service is dealing with.) The person on the other end absolutely freaked out at me, going on about how they're refusing to do refunds and no one is getting refunds and how I'll have my book in time (how could they know that?) and would not calm down. I tried reiterating that I only wanted to know which carrier service they used, that I was neither looking for nor expecting a refund, and that I was not upset with Shutterfly. They continued with their rant until abruptly hanging up.
I might not have been upset with Shutterfly before that call but I certainly was afterwards! I will never give them my money again.
The only reason I used this service is because Costco transferred their photo services to them. Never had a problem with Costco. But Shutterfly has lost 75% of an almost $75 order of prints. There is no way to leave feedback, no phone number and the chat function is a joke. Horrible service, almost non existent customer service and I can't get my prints. Costco please offer a better solution than this sorry company.
Just go elsewhere. Was left with automated responses for over an hour. No real human customer service or support. They have zero in-house editing services, nor can they refer you to anyone that can help edit anything - per the automated reponses. They are the equivalent to taking your vehicle into a mechanic for a flat tire and the mechanic not being able to diagnose or fix it. A huge waste of my time, but hoping this review can help redirect other customers elsewhere who are looking to spend their money.
I ordered my granddaughter's high school graduation announcements. She customized the entire order, which cost extra. After completing the announcement in the order, you are then offered the option of which envelope you want. Plain ones come with the order for no extra charge. However, she selected the customizable envelope (and of course that was extra). There was a variety of customizable envelopes offered so we selected the one with the year & a tassel on the front of the envelope. The display had 2022. ONE WOULD ASSUME THE DATE WOULD REFLECT THE INVITATION, RIGHT? WRONG! We called Shutterfly and they said they would correct this and send us new envelopes with the correct year. They sent more announcements with envelopes STILL 2022. Tried repeatedly to call Shutterfly again. Each time they would hang up on us. Finally got through using chat. The agent informed us that we should have been told that those envelopes are not editable. "So, let me get this straight...I am ordering and paying extra for customizable envelopes that aren't customizable". Ok, so I said just send us plain envelopes then and be done with it. The agent says they can only give me a credit and I would have to place another order. While still chatting with her we go to the website and discover that we cannot order just the envelopes. You have to place an ENTIRE ORDER all over again. So, even if I use the credit (and I think it was only $10), I am out a good deal of money. I asked to speak to a manager. I was assured a manager would call me It's never happened. We gave up and just ordered envelopes from Amazon.
Had a fleece blanket made well this thing is barely the size of a baby blanket and to charge 40 bucks for it I WILL NEVER BUY ANY MORE FROM THEM
They'll charge you almost 20 dollars for shipping, just to send it in a cheap envelope that takes forever to arrive. With my first order the envelope ripped completely and I received an empty package. If you're going to charge so much for shippin, at least make its secure and arrives in a timely manner
I supported this company for 17 years but they recently changed some important things up and I am seeking to sever all ties with them as soon as possible. They claim they guarantee 100% satisfaction but they don't live up to this. Not at all. If I try calling them, then I typically am stuck on hold and then disconnected. If I finally get someone on the phone, they assure me they are trying to resolve my issue and someone will follow up with me, but nobody does. Weeks pass and I have to go through the cycle again. It is maddening. Save yourself a headache. Work with a different company.
Expensive shipping that takes way too long. Have a problem, call customer service in Kenya or Jamaica. Stay on hold for 40+ minutes then get hung up on!
Generally, Shutterfly has been good if you don't have any problems with an order or delivery and don't need to try to contact them. However, if you have a defect problem on a delivery ( which I just had), there is no way to reach customer service, i.e there is NO customer service. We need to crack down on companies that take our money and don't provide the customer service needed when a problem arises. We should put these type of companies out of business.
Our fourth time ordering. This time around we purchased two 4x6 and one 5x7. Fourteen days later and still no pictures. The tracking number they gave us is not valid.
