I have bought many things from Goodwill, they do have auto bidding, they have hidden bids, a bunch of bull for a few American Girl dolls. Not like they will get rich. But if I bought barbie dolls. 15.00 for bid. 45. At the end with shipping. I think we all should report to BBB. They need to do it fair or get off line.
I thought this would be a wonderful place to buy. I should have read the reviews first. I waited a very very long time and paid an exorbitant shipping and handling fee for TWO Starbucks mugs. When the box arrived today, there was only ONE mug in it. I am so upset and they have not even responded to my emails for assistance. WOW! Expensive lesson learned... never again. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED
I was expelled from Goodwill website.
Because I shopped there too much. Some times I would be late with my payment for action win and they would not extend time to pay for me or did not cancel. I tried to resolve with them. But not successful, they completely block me. Even if I sign up with new account they would block me next day. This is so annoying, I want to spend my money there for good cause.
Bought 2 DSLR cameras. Both not working. They finally said I could return, but had to pay shipping to return and they would not refund original shipping. Was not worth the trouble or expense. Did not learn my lesson. Bought a baseball glove. Paid with in 2 days. It has been 2 weeks and they have not shipped yet. They say they are busy but will ship some time.
I bought a tie for $11. Never checked the shipping price thinking... how expensive can shipping for a tie be?
$15.07 for shipping/handling on a tie later, I was totally screwed.
Thanks Goodwill. You're welcome for the donations. Thanks for the highway robbery on shipping.
My son was interested in a Nerf gun, so we looked and found the one he was looking for. We found it at a reasonable price and waited out the auction. Thank God I looked at the shipping before we bid, 101 pounds in shipping for a Nerf gun they claimed was 20 pounds. I didn't know they made 20 pound Nerf guns for kids... maybe it was metal and had real bullets. And Why the extra 81 pounds? Is it being shipped in a casket?
Not only has my account been suspended... for whatever reason... I don't know, but any other account I try to make so I don't miss out on things is disabled.
All I know is, they obviously don't want to sell anything and when they do decide to sell it... It's going to cost you.
Ok so they get items donated then list and sell for a profit. Their handling prices are crazy along with shipping. I bought a few things and then actually took them to my post office to see the price and they gouge you. They say they weigh everything...No they don't. Then they say that NO ITEMS CAN BE RETURNED...They say we describe items to the best of our ability. Here is one description: "Used." That's it... When you email them asking for specifics they now have a tag line they use: We are so sorry but the items you asked for are stored in our warehouse and we can't get the item out to photograph or look at. So you will have to bid at your own risk and remember there are no returns. I then found the number for two of the stores and called and spoke to the manager. They both confirmed after I pushed and pushed that there are no warehouses. Both items at the two different locations managed to finally get the items from the "back room". Neither item was bid on because BOTH were damaged. The prices are sky high. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY...
I checked shipping before bidding, it was $14 shipping and $4 handling. After I went to pay it was still $4 handling but mysteriously went up to $20 shipping! I knew shipping is high but how can they change it after I win the auction?
Loved shopgoodwill at first, but now they shill bid then relist everything they "won" over and over until it goes high enough. Then they tack on huge handling fees and inflated shipping prices. Not at all worth wasting your time. They will shill bid you every single time.
As a employee for Good Will, I thought it would be convenient to do aome christmas shopping online. Discourage with my purchase of what was supposed to be good condition Victoria's Secret bras. I received my package today to my surprise, my shipment was used nasty bras. As a employee we would have salvaged these garments, and never posted them on shop Good Will. Upset with shop Good Will, being I paid a good amount of money for these nasty garments.
By far the best shopping sight. I'm glad the rating are low, more treasure for me. Yes, shipping has gone way up and I don't like it, but you can estimate the cost of shipping in second. If shipping is to much for an item I will move on. Once you learn to shop goodwill, you will start to recognize the stores that charge to much for shipping. You can buy anything that you can think of on goodwill. So, keep it a secret, I love goodwill.
In the last several months, somehow a thick print was destroyed, a painting was completely lost and recd clothing item measurements wrong. They could care less. Postage is ridiculous. For books most stores refuse to use US post office media mail. At my local GW store the minimum wage workers have told me its an AWFUL place to work. And if u ever try to escalate to mgmt... good luck. Must be too busy making an employee feel miserable.
I purchased a $6.66 book and I was charged 31.59 including handling and shipping. This was a book which could have shipped media for $4.99. There was no customer cooperation from them. Sent UPS, it still could have shipped for half if packaged correctly. Beware if the outrageous handling fees and shipping costs. Never buy a book or media on Shop Goodwill.
The shipping is definitely way overpriced often as much as the piece is worth. When secondhand charities start taking out the valuable thing for online auctions we will soon see store closings starting with the small middle men that used to floor walk shop and resale - then the Charity stores themselves. They are knocking off the little venders between them and the retailer and going for less product shuffling. They are slowly killing their best wholesalers for greed and making it so we as consumers won't waste our time and gas in the storefront which prompts impulse junk purchases. A shooting yourself in the foot deal.
Buyers beware. Beside everything said and experienced above, which is true, the management has a practice to be extremely rude and violent. I'd suggest to stop hiring people with criminal past and probably feature, to run the stores. In the beginning they accepted as not as described items back or at least compensate you. But recently they sells a lot of not as described items and refused to have them back. Currently I have 2 disputes opened against them, for stolen iPad and danaged GPS. I hope people will stop buying anything from there online, cause this is just another moneymaking machine filling up mr. Buffets pockets :(
Having been a customer for a few years, the new website is the last straw. I haven't purchased since it has gone into effect. I spend on the average $ 1000. 00 per month. The shipping and handling charges are ridiculous. I've stopped buying and supporting Goodwill. I'm sure the upper management are pulling in huge salaries. Love to know what their" not for profit" CEO is making. Many listings are totally inacurate. Borderline fraudulent. The Attorney General needs to take a close look at this " not for profit". The stores are once again disorganized. Dirty and overpriced. I wouldn't feel so bad, if I knew that the money I spent was really going to help the people who really need it... but I'm sure it's not.
This was once a great site to shop. No more thoe. The new site is slow, cumbersome, and difficult to maneuver with inadequate and sometimes wrong search results. Never mind the extremely high prices, shipping charges and handling fees. And forget about last minutes bids where the site slows down and bids not accepted. It's not that I want the old website back. Improvements are good and necessary but I haven't visited an auction site as bad as with one. It just doesn't make any good that in these days of website store designs and Internet technology, goodwill allowed someone to create such an awful.
This website is great. Everything is dirt cheap and not that many people know about it yet so there isnt a lot of people trying to out-bid you. The only problem that I have for the site is that their video games and video game consoles are not tested. They say the condition but do not test it so its a little risky.
The Goodwill is getting crazy with their prices. They pay nothing for it and want new or above new price for it. A 2/3 bottle of Power Stick frome the Dollar tree for $3.99. At Winchester Kentucky Goodwill. $5 for a used bucket in My. Sterling KY and I could go on and on. The Goodwill store is suppose to be about help people not about getting rich from other people's Goodwill. I would throw my stuff away before I would donate it to the Goodwill. They have to be a better charity out there to donate to.
I joined Scorp and not realizing or knowing, it had mostly all
Singles, 16 to 20 something yrs old!
Out of perhaps 30 people only two would be American. Ive wanted off this site for good but they leave no way on the site to get ahold of them.
Then even on the net, The closet thing I found was this right here. So in my review I can say this site isn't cracked up to what it's supposed. To be. Scorp? Delete my file!
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
